Teluk Intan MP allocates over RM1 million for school students since 2023
The Minister of Housing and Local Government said the allocation was not only given to students who obtained excellent results in their examinations, but also to assist students from less-affordable families.
'The MADANI government always protect all groups and races, whether Malay, Chinese, Indian or other races, all are given equal attention.
'The cash contributions are allocations from the Teluk Intan Member of Parliament Service Centre,' he told a press conference after the bursary handover programme to students in the Teluk Intan parliamentary constituency at the Hilir Perak District Education Office here today.
Also present was the Perak Domestic Trade, Cooperatives, Consumer Affairs and Kampung Baru Cina Committee chairman, Woo Kah Leong, who is also Pasir Bedamar Assemblyman.
Regarding today's programme, Nga said a total of RM82,000 was allocated to students who obtained excellent results, namely those who scored 11As, 10As and 9As in last year's Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia examination.

Felda to consult PMD on RM100,000 allocation for land scheme villages
KUALA LUMPUR: The Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) will consult the Prime Minister's Department to determine the best approach for distributing the RM100,000 allocation to each village in its land schemes, as announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim yesterday. Its chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek said the move aims to ensure the funds are distributed efficiently and achieve the government's objectives. "We will refer to PMD to establish the appropriate criteria for recipients to ensure that the assistance is properly utilised and achieves the intended goals," he said. He said the allocation would be tailored to the needs of individual villages, some of which have Land Scheme Working Committees (JKTR), cooperatives, or youth councils. Ahmad Shabery said this to reporters after launching the Felda Robo and Novate 2025 programme, themed 'Young Innovators, Global Future,' at the Mega 3D Carnival (MK3D) 2025 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec). Also present was Felda director-general Datuk Dr Suzana Idayu Wati Osman. Yesterday, Anwar announced the RM100,000 allocation for each village under Felda to fund development projects decided by the local residents. This initiative aligns with the Madani government's focus on consultation and empowering the people. Regarding the delisting of FGV Holdings Bhd (FGV) from Bursa Malaysia, Ahmad Shabery said it should not be viewed negatively. He said delisting will allow for a restructuring of the company without being constrained by the regulations governing public companies, ultimately enabling Felda to fully own FGV and run welfare activities for settlers more effectively. Anwar had earlier confirmed that Felda would have control over FGV's direction once the delisting process is completed, which will begin on August 28.

MAIPs honours Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra's 25 years of leadership
KANGAR: Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail has marked 25 years of leadership as the Raja Muda of Perlis, making significant contributions to the development of religion, social welfare, and the economy of the ummah. In a statement issued today, the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) highlighted His Royal Highness' notable achievements, including his humanitarian missions, educational collaborations, and efforts to promote religious diplomacy. "His work has had a lasting impact, particularly in strengthening the zakat and waqf management systems and enhancing the role of mosques as community hubs. "Under His Royal Highness' leadership, MAIPs has emerged as a progressive and authoritative religious institution. His leadership is a symbol of a monarchy that is close to the people and visionary in developing Perlis," read the statement. Most recently, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra led MAIPs' humanitarian missions to Kenya and Rwanda, forging strategic collaborations with international Islamic education institutions. One of his significant projects includes introducing UniSIRAJ (Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin International Islamic University) and promoting the harmonious and humanitarian values of Islam. MAIPs also celebrated Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra's milestone during the Takrim 25 Tahun Pemasyhuran (25th Anniversary of His Royal Highness' Ascension as Perlis Raja Muda) which coincided with the 2026-2030 consultative dialogue on the direction of state's Islamic affairs here on Friday. The anniversary celebration symbolised the highest appreciation for His Royal Highness' leadership over the past two and a half decades. His dedication to guiding the ummah, upholding religion, and serving the people of Perlis was honoured through a special ceremony, which included a trilingual poetry performance titled Ungkap Kata Puji Mahkota – حملة المدحِ. His focus will remain on ensuring Perlis remains a harmonious, knowledgeable, and prosperous state through an integrated and impactful approach. "This Takrim ceremony not only reflects on His Royal Highness' 25-year leadership journey, but also serves as a renewed pledge to continue the struggle for blessings, justice, and the well-being of the ummah," said MAIPs, adding that prayers for His Royal Highness's continued leadership and divine blessings were made. Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra was officially installed as Raja Muda of Perlis on Oct 12, 2000, at the Balairong Seri, Istana Arau, following the proclamation of his father, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, as Raja of Perlis on April 16 of the same year. Since then, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra has carried the responsibility of being the heir to the Perlis throne and the president of MAIPs, advising the Raja of Perlis on Islamic affairs and Malay customs. – Bernama

Nvidia denies back-door features in its H20 chips after Beijing raises security concerns
Nvidia said its chips had no 'back doors' after China's cyberspace regulator interviewed company representatives over alleged security risks associated with its H20 chips, which were tailor-made for Chinese customers, although it remains unclear what impact Beijing's mistrust of the US firm will have over time. 'Cybersecurity is critically important to us,' an Nvidia representative said in an email to the South China Morning Post on Thursday night. 'Nvidia does not have 'back doors' in our chips that would give anyone a remote way to access or control them.' The statement was in response to a regulatory move by the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC), the agency responsible for the country's cybersecurity. The Chinese regulator said on Thursday that it had summoned and interviewed Nvidia regarding the potential tracking and remote control functions of its H20 chips, a surprise move as Nvidia had just received the green light from Washington to export the chips to clients in China. Nvidia's shares were down 0.8 per cent on Thursday in New York. The latest development highlights the challenges faced by Nvidia, the world's most valuable company in terms of market capitalisation, in trying to please both Washington and Beijing amid intensifying US-China rivalry in artificial intelligence and hi-tech. While China needs Nvidia chips to build out its computing infrastructure, Beijing remains committed to the long-term goal of tech self-sufficiency by reducing its reliance on imported American equipment and technologies. In the latest example of that, a group of Chinese semiconductor and AI companies – including Huawei Technologies, Cambricon Technologies and Moore Threads – formed an alliance to push for the adoption of locally developed processors for AI projects. China's cyberspace administration did not specify the source or evidence for its concerns about back-door security threats associated with Nvidia chips. In May, a bipartisan group of US lawmakers introduced a bill that would require makers of AI processors to incorporate tracking technology in their chips before export. The proposal aimed to address reports of US export-controlled AI chips being smuggled into China via third countries. But Nvidia has never said that its H20 chips have such tracking functions. The summoning of Nvidia was the latest example of the long-lasting mistrust between Beijing and Washington over the other's tech hardware. The US has banned the use of Huawei gear in the American telecommunications network, while new guidelines from the administration of US President Donald Trump implied that the use of Huawei's Ascend AI chips 'anywhere in the world' could be a violation of US export controls. For its part, China accelerated the process of replacing imported technologies in its key infrastructure facilities about a decade ago, after former US National Security Agency contract employee Edward Snowden exposed the global spying practices of the US.
