RM1.2m MADANI projects boost Kampung Batu 8, Bendang Siam
Polytechnic and Community College Education Department (JPPKK) director-general Datuk Dr Mohd Zahari Ismail stated the funds will enhance infrastructure and living standards. Key projects include upgrading the village surau, constructing a community hall and school hall for SK Bendang Siam, and building a funeral room at Masjid Al-Wusqa.
'A recreational gazebo will be added near the surau, and an abandoned pond will be revived for fish farming to create income opportunities,' Mohd Zahari said during a site visit.
Additionally, 21 homes in the B40 group will undergo repairs, including electrical upgrades, roof fixes, and solar-powered lighting installations. The project involves 162 lecturers and students from 10 PolyCC institutions, with Kolej Komuniti Bagan Serai leading coordination.
Mohd Zahari highlighted the initiative's dual benefit: improving rural livelihoods while strengthening ties between education institutions and communities. The project runs from today until Aug 20, supported by Perak ICU and local agencies. - Bernama

UPM students embrace rural life and volunteerism in Kampung Angkat MADANI
SHAH ALAM: Fifty Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) students participated in the Kampung Angkat MADANI @ Jiwa Putra Programme in Kampung Sawah Sempadan, Tanjong Karang. She appreciated the chance to gain new insights, attend motivational sessions, and participate in gotong-royong activities. Block AGH Village Development and Security Committee chairman Zam Zaidi praised UPM's impact on the community. He noted that the podcast introduced villagers to digital platforms for product promotion and eco-tourism. The programme was a collaboration between UPM's University Community Transformation Centre and Strategic and Corporate Relations Centre. Organised by UPM's Co-Curriculum and Student Development Centre (PKPP), the three-day programme involved 25 foster families and featured a variety of community-based activities, including agricultural knowledge sharing, entrepreneurship, tree planting, and local product exhibitions. 'We want the community to understand and embrace the spirit of Malaysia MADANI, particularly in the context of unity, progress and the pursuit of new opportunities. Amira Farhana Sallehuddin, a Bachelor of Science in Human Development with Honours student at the Faculty of Human Ecology, said she joined the programme during the semester break, drawn by the adopted village concept.

PSIS team restores 21 homes for B40 and disabled in Perak
KUALA LUMPUR: Twelve lecturers and 16 students from Politeknik Sultan Idris Shah (PSIS) were among over 100 participants from 10 institutions who helped restore 21 homes for B40 families and people with disabilities in Changkat Jering, Perak. The initiative was part of the Kampung Angkat Madani Programme (KAMBEST TVET), led by the Polytechnic and Community College Education Department. The programme aims to empower rural communities through technical and vocational education and training. They were among 162 lecturers and students from 10 institutions under the national PolyCC (polytechnics and community colleges) network who came together to contribute their time, skills, and knowledge to the local community. The project was led by Kolej Komuniti Bagan Serai, with participation from nine other institutions: Politeknik Sultan Idris Shah, Politeknik Nilai, Politeknik Jeli, Politeknik Bagan Datuk, Kolej Komuniti Sabak Bernam, Kolej Komuniti Seberang Jaya, Kolej Komuniti Masjid Tanah, Kolej Komuniti Selandar and Kolej Komuniti Kuala Langat. The project ran from Aug 5 to 20. The programme's goal was to improve the village environment by upgrading homes, installing single-phase electrical wiring, and building community gazebos. Repairs included replacing distribution boards, rewiring electrical systems, installing solar-powered lights, and fixing leaking roofs, damaged wooden floors, pillars, windows, and doors.
