Razorpay invests $30 million into consumer payments startup Pop
, a consumer payment platform, has raised $30 million from payments solutions company
Razorpay
. This investment will go towards solving two of India's most pressing challenges in
digital commerce
: rising customer acquisition costs (CAC) for merchants and the lack of meaningful rewards for consumers.
The company operates a rewards-first UPI payments app that merges payments, commerce, and credit into one experience. It has previously raised funding from several marquee investors, including India Quotient, Unilever Ventures, Incubate Fund, and Nuventures.
"India doesn't need another cashback-only rewards app. What we need is a new rewards economy built on a long-term purpose. Popcoins are designed to build habits, increase retention, and reduce CAC for merchants — all while making payments more rewarding for the end user,' said Bhargav Errangi, Founder of Pop. 'With Razorpay's support, we will double down on our mission to bring a loyalty-first payments ecosystem that will help businesses scale with purpose, speed, and impact.'
Pop will use the funding to strengthen product innovation, enhance the value proposition for consumers via Popcoins-led rewards, and build deeper merchant partnerships across D2C and lifestyle categories.
Since launching its UPI platform last June, Pop has scaled to over six lakh daily UPI transactions, crossed one million unique monthly active transactors, fulfilled two lakh monthly commerce shipments and issued 40,000 RuPay credit cards in a co-branded partnership with
Yes Bank
.
The investment expands Razorpay's footprint beyond payments into the broader ecosystem of loyalty, engagement, and commerce enablement. The company believes that while checkout journeys have been digitized, most merchants still lack easy-to-use tools that incentivize repeat purchases, drive real-time engagement, and convert casual visitors into loyal customers. Pop solves this by building a multi-brand rewards currency in the form of Pop Coins, in the company's view.

'Our investment in Pop is driven by a clear purpose and that is to serve D2C merchants better. In today's crowded D2C space, brands need more than just payment solutions; they need tools to earn trust, drive repeat purchases, and build real loyalty,' said Harshil Mathur, co-founder and CEO of Razorpay. 'Pop bridges that gap by combining instant rewards, seamless payments, and brand discovery in one platform. It's a powerful way for businesses to turn everyday transactions into lasting customer relationships."
This investment in Pop complements Razorpay's earlier acquisition of PoshVine, a loyalty and rewards management platform, which laid the foundation for Razorpay Engage, touted as India's 'first full-stack intelligent marketing growth suite'.
According to a recent Consumer Spending Report by Upside, over 90% of digital consumers consider rewards and loyalty while making purchase decisions. With India's D2C market expected to surpass $100 billion by 2026, the pressure on brands to create sticky, rewarding customer experiences has never been greater.

UPI users will not be able to make these transactions from October 1: PhonePe, Google Pay to stop…
Do you often rely on Unified Payments Interface (UPI) apps like PhonePe, GPay, and Paytm for online payments? Then, you may want to keep an eye out for the new National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) rules for UPI payments. Reportedly, the NPCI will remove one of the most used UPI features, which we call peer-to-peer (P2P) transactions. This feature is widely used to send a UPI account holder a request for money. Now, this feature will be removed from the UPI apps from October 1, 2025, to strengthen user security and reduce financial fraud. Know more about how the new UPI payment rules will affect users. NPCI announces new UPI payment rules to reduce fraud. Here's everything you need to know.(AI generated) New UPI payment rules In a circular dated July 29, NPCI stated that 'By October 1, 2025, UPI P2P Collect shall not be allowed to be processed in UPI.' This means that the 'collect request' feature from banks and payment apps will be entirely removed from the mentioned date. The P2P feature is widely used to send money requests to other UPI app users, reminding them to share the amount or simply split a bill. However, this feature is being used by fraudsters to trick UPI users and empty their accounts. Fraudsters often use this feature to send user requests in the pretence of a fake role or a false emergency. Once the user accepts the requests, they instantly start to lose money, without realising that they have become a victim of a scam. Therefore, removing the P2P feature will reduce these scam risks. Earlier, the P2P transaction was limited to ₹2,000 per transaction. This has helped reduce several fraud cases, yet it was not enough to entirely stop them. Now, users will have to strictly rely on a QR code or select the contact number to send money using the UPI PIN from October 1. Will it affect merchant transactions? Well, these new UPI payment rules will not affect merchant transactions that include Flipkart, Amazon, Swiggy, and IRCTC. These platforms will be allowed to share a collection request to complete the payment. However, users will still have the charge, as they will have to approve the request and enter their UPI PIN to complete the payment. Mobile Finder: iPhone 17 Air LATEST specs, features, and price

Breaking down the UPI revolution in India
The value of Unified Payments Interface (UPI) transactions in India was ₹25 lakh crore in July 2025. Given the fact that UPI came into being less than a decade ago — it was launched in July 2016 — and had transactions of just ₹38 lakh in its first month, this is a huge revolution in India's payments space. What do Indians UPI on? Who do they UPI to? (Yes, it's now a verb that can be used in several contexts, that's how popular it is) . How popular is UPI compared to other retail payment methods? Here are three charts which answer these questions. UPI has pretty much substituted traditional ways of making interpersonal payments.(Representative image)

Pixxel-led consortium to use own funds for EO satellite constellation
Pixxel-led consortium that won the government contract to design, build, and operate India's first fully indigenous commercial Earth Observation (EO) satellite constellation bid at zero cost. This means the group will bear the entire Rs 1,200 crore investment while forgoing the government's public-private partnership (PPP) offer of up to Rs 350 crore in support.'The winning bid was zero. I cannot reveal the other bids, but this zero bid by the consortium is a very strong statement that the private sector sees immense opportunities in space,' IN-SPACe chairman Pawan Goenka confirmed to Pixxel consortium, comprising SatSure, PierSight, and Dhruva Space, on Tuesday emerged as the lowest bidder (L1), ahead of two other technically qualified groups: Astra Microwave Products Bharat Electronics , Sisir Radar, and Spectragaze Systems; the second one was GalaxEye Space, with added that without an Indian constellation, the country would end up spending heavily on foreign data, and noted that the PPP model had drawn strong interest. Asked if IN-SPACe had estimated potential savings, he said it would depend on the constellation's revenue.'The lowest revenue estimate among the bidders was Rs 1,800 crore annually. If all of that would otherwise be imported, India could save about Rs 9,000 crore (~$1 billion) over five years,' he founder Awais Ahmed said the partners are confident of recovering the investment within a few years of operations, given strong demand in India and global markets. 'Pixxel and our consortium members will pool in our own fundraised money to put into the project. At a future stage we could augment it with more investor funding or by bringing a strategic partner or debt financing as well,' he told has raised $95 million across 11 rounds so far. SatSure has raised $27.1 million in 11 rounds, Dhruva Space $16.1 million in seven rounds, and PierSight $6.6 million in two rounds, according to consortium said its primary customer will be the Indian government. The group will also leverage its global customers globally in agriculture, oil and gas, mining and maritime sectors. "We'll sell to them as well and then other friendly governments,' Ahmed first satellite will launch within two years, with the rest following over two-and-a-half years. Goenka stressed that all contractual obligations, local content norms, and penalties will still apply despite no government project will deploy 12 satellites over four years carrying optical, hyperspectral, multispectral and synthetic aperture radar (SAR) sensors to deliver high-resolution data for agriculture, urban planning, disaster management, climate monitoring, and national security.
