Why Did Cierra Ortega Leave ‘Love Island USA'?
Earlier last week Love Island USA viewers uncovered a 2024 social media post seemingly from Cierra in which she spoke about the cosmetic work she had done, and used a racial slur towards the Asian community while referencing her eyes. Fans also found another (older) Instagram post that showed her using the same slur while referring to her eyes, but the post appears to have been deleted.
Following the discovery of these posts, Love Island USA viewers took to social media demanding Ortega be removed from the villa, just like Yulissa was earlier this season. And, despite show narrator Iain Stirling's announcement that 'Cierra has left the villa due to a personal situation,' it looks like the producers listened.
While Cierra has not addressed the comments herself since leaving the Villa, her parents have responded to her removal with a statement posted to her Instagram Stories. In the statement, the pair acknowledged what had happened but also asked for compassion for their daughter who they were yet to see as she had not yet returned home.
They said: 'As Cierra's parents, this has been one of the most painful weeks of our lives. We've seen the posts, the headlines, the hurt and the hate. And while Cierra hasn't seen any of it yet, we have. And so have the people who lover her.
'We're not here to justify or ignore what's surface. We understand why people upset and we know accountability matters. But what's happening online right now now has gone far beyond that.
'The threats. The cruel messages. The attacks on her family, her friends, even her supporters, it's heartbreaking. It's uncalled for. And no one deserves that kind of hate, no matter what mistake they've made.
'While Cierra is not in the Villa anymore, she is still away. She's hasn't had the chance to process of this or speak for herself. But we know our daughter. We know her heart. And when she returns, we believe she'l face this with honesty, growth and grace.
'While she'll always be our little girl, she's also a woman, one who will take responsibility in her own time and her own voice. Until then, we're simply asking for compassion. For patience. For basic human decency. Not just for her, but for everyone caught in the middle of this. Thank you to those who've continued to show love, even when it's not easy. With love, her family.'
Cierra is the second Love Island USA contestant to be removed this series following unearthing of racial slurs. Earlier in the series Yulissa Escobar was removed from the Villa in the second episode after it was discovered she had repeatedly used the N-word during a podcast interview prior to appearing on the show.
Since her departure she has apologized for her actions.

Cartoon characters on cartoon accents in ‘King of the Hill'
This new 'King of the Hill' features a few voices who weren't around for the show's original run on Fox from 1997 to 2009. Ronny Chieng now plays Kahn Souphanousinphone, previously voiced by Toby Huss, who also played Ted Wassanasong. Ted is now voiced by Kenneth Choi. Ted's son, Chane, is now played by Ki Hong Lee, replacing Advertisement In casting Asian actors to play Asian characters, the 'King of the Hill' team, including series creators Greg Daniels and Mike Judge, are acknowledging that things aren't the same as when the series first aired. The practice of using white actors to voice non-white characters — often using exaggerated accents — is now rightfully scorned. Alison Brie, star of the new body horror movie 'Together,' has expressed regrets about voicing a Vietnamese character on 'Bojack Horseman.' This isn't 'woke.' It's evolution and basic courtesy, much like the death of minstrelsy. Advertisement Emilio might see Speedy Gonzalez as a revolutionary, and Mel Blanc was definitely a talented guy. But as Hank Hill might say, that kind of voice casting ain't right. Chris Vognar can be reached at

Rachel Recchia Calls Louis Russell 'Selfish' for Spoiling ‘Perfect Match'
It looks like Love Island USA's Huda Mustafa found romance beyond the villa with Too Hot to Handle alum Louis Russell after they hard-launched their relationship on the red carpet. We love to see wait a minute. Hasn't Louis been exploring another connection with Love Is Blind's Sandy Gallagher on the current season of Perfect Match, which released its first six episodes this summer? Yes, yes he has. Allow us to elaborate. The Netflix reality series reportedly started filming over a year ago after it was renewed for its third season in June 2024, so his real-life relationship with Huda is, unfortunately, a major spoiler. Because of it, we know Louis and Sandy's flirtation will fizzle out at some point—and fellow Perfect Match cast member Rachel Recchia is fully calling him out for it, too. During an interview on Nick Viall's The Viall Files podcast, Rachel shared that she was 'disappointed' when she saw Louis and Huda walk the red carpet of the Weapons movie premiere on July 31. 'It's literally airing—we have what, maybe two weeks? It feels, like, a little selfish,' Rachel said, referring to the remaining episodes' release schedule. 'It affects the whole cast.' She clarified that while it's frustrating, there's no bad blood between her and Louis, adding, 'I love him as a person. I think he's amazing. I get along with him so well. He's such great TV.' She continued, 'I mean, Sandy and him have such a good connection on the show. Now people are kinda seeing things like, 'Oh, what's going on now?'' The Bachelor Nation alum also said that 'everything that's happening now is crazy' in the aftermath of Louis going public with Huda and his alleged falling out with Love Island: Beyond the Villa star, Miguel Harichi. ICYMI, Miguel's girlfriend, Leah Kateb, and her PPG besties Serena Page and JaNa Craig, all unfollowed Louis on social media after he stepped out on the red carpet with Huda. Love Island USA devotees thought this was Huda shade, but Leah later clarified that it had nothing to do with the season 7 fan favorite and more to do with Louis. Then, Miguel cleared the air with a series of Instagram Stories, in which he wrote, 'Leah and the girls didn't unfollow Louis because he was dating Huda, they did it because as women the reasoning behind why he was dating her didn't sit right with them.' He added, 'Whether or not they are truly falling for each other at this point I couldn't care less. I wish them nothing but peace, but my road is my own and I would prefer if my name and my girl's name no longer crossed into their world.' Oh, and if you're wondering how Rachel is feeling about her ill-fated reunion with Clayton Echard on Perfect Match? As she told Nick: 'I think he came on the show because he did want that redemption and I'm the easiest path to it... He said we're both better versions of ourselves. I definitely am.'

Brad Pitt's Mom Jane Etta Pitt Dead At 84
Brad Pitt's Mom Jane Etta Pitt Dead At 84 originally appeared on Parade. Brad Pitt is mourning the loss of his mother, Jane Etta Pitt, who has passed away at the age of 84. Sources close to the family confirmed to TMZ on Wednesday, August 6, that Jane died within the past couple of days. One of Jane's granddaughters, Sidney Pitt, also posted a heartfelt tribute on Instagram. 'My sweet Grammy, Jane Etta, we were not ready for you to go yet but knowing you are finally free to sing, dance, and paint again makes it a tad easier.,' Sidney began her caption. She elaborated on how her 'Grammy' taught her strength, how to paint, and kindness. She told childhood stories, and how her grandmother believed in 'doing good simply because it was the right thing to do.' Brad, 60, was said to be especially tight with his mother, often crediting her as the emotional cornerstone of their family. Jane worked as a family counselor and generally stayed out of the public eye, though she did attend several red carpets along with Brad's father, William Pitt, to support her son throughout his career. Jane shared a decades-long love story with her husband that began at Oklahoma Baptist University, where the two first met, according to PEOPLE. They tied the knot in 1962 and welcomed Brad soon after. The young family eventually moved from Oklahoma to Tulsa before settling in Springfield, Missouri — the city where Brad and his younger siblings, Doug and Julie, would grow up. In addition to her husband and three children, Jane also leaves behind 14 grandchildren. At this time, her cause of death is unknown.
