'Janata sab yaad rakhegi': RJD slams PM Modi and Nitish for holding rally in poll bound Bihar just days after Pahalgam terror attack
NEW DELHI: The Rashtriya Janata Dal (
RJD
) launched a strong criticism against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar chief minister
Nitish Kumar
for conducting a political rally in Bihar while the nation mourned the victims of the recent
Pahalgam terror attack
in Jammu and Kashmir.
RJD leader Sanju Kohli put up posters featuring PM Modi and Nitish Kumar, bearing the message: "Ek taraf matam mana raha hai, doosri taraf rally. Janata sab yaad rakhegi" (On one side, the country is mourning, on the other side, a rally. The public will remember everything).
This follows Prime Minister's rally in Bihar's Madhubani, from where he issued a stern warning to terrorists on April 22, pledging to "identify, track, and punish" those responsible for the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives.

Addressing his first public gathering since the attack, PM Modi expressed the nation's grief and assured decisive action against the perpetrators. "On April 22, terrorists killed innocent people of the country in J&K's Pahalgam... The country is sad and in pain after this incident. We stand with the families of the victims. The terrorists will not be spared, strong action will be taken against them," PM Modi said.
Ahead of PM Modi's rally, RJD took a jibe at PM Modi and alleged that the state administration is pressuring local officials and representatives to ensure crowd attendance at the event.
"The pyres of the victims of the Pahalgam terrorist attack have not yet been lit, but the country's Prime Minister will come to Bihar tomorrow to campaign and deliver speeches because Bihar is holding elections this year," RJD had said in a post on X.
"The Nitish-BJP government is exerting immense pressure on BDOs, DTOs, DMs, SPs, and others to mobilize crowds. On government orders, officials are intimidating and threatening panch, sarpanch, ward members, committee members, and mukhiyas to gather and bring crowds. They are being forced to go to Madhubani," it added.
The attack, carried out by terrorists at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam on Tuesday, is one of the deadliest in the Valley since the 2019 Pulwama strike in which 40 CRPF jawans were killed. The attack was one of the biggest terror attacks in the region after the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019.

Contribute now New Delhi: Lok Sabha leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi, who has once again claimed that US President Donald Trump compelled Prime Minister Narendra Modi to 'surrender' during the India-Pakistan conflict, said he was only saying the same thing Trump has repeated '11 times'. 'Trump … has said 11 times that Modi stopped due to pressure from him. I am only saying what Trump is saying and has said 11 times,' Gandhi said on Friday (June 6) to mediapersons. He continued: 'Modi has not made any statement on Trump's comments. Modi should say that Trump is lying.' Earlier in the day, Gandhi claimed while addressing an event in Bihar's Rajgir that Trump had repeatedly said he made Modi surrender and that the latter was unable to say that the US president was lying because he was speaking the truth. 'You know that he has a habit of surrendering,' Gandhi said referring to the Union government's decision to enumerate castes during the next population census, something that had been a demand of opposition parties in the run-up to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. 'Trump has said 11 times – 11 times – that 'I made Narendra Modi surrender'. He's said it 11 times, in public. Modi is not able to object to this. Modi is not able to say that Trump is lying. Because it is the truth,' the Congress MP alleged. On Tuesday, Gandhi while addressing a function in Bhopal claimed that Modi obeyed Trump's diktat to 'surrender'. 'Trump gestured from there [the US], picked up the phone and asked Modi 'what are you doing?' 'Narendra…surrender'. Aur, ji hazoor karke, Narendra Modi ji ne Trump ke ishaare ka paalan kiya. ['Saying yes sir, Modi followed Trump's instructions'],' Gandhi said. As the four-day military conflict between India and Pakistan ended on May 10, Trump was the first to announce the cessation of hostilities, claiming also that the US mediated the ceasefire between the two South Asian nations. He has since repeated this stance and also claimed to have used trade as leverage during a mediation effort: 'I said, come on, we're gonna do a lot of trade with you guys. Let's stop it. Let's stop it. If you stop it, we'll do trade. If you don't stop it, we're not gonna do any trade. 'People have never really used trade the way I used it, that I can tell you, and all of a sudden, they said, I think we're gonna stop.' Since then the US government has said in a court filing that Trump used trade access as incentive to 'avert a full-scale war' between India and Pakistan. The Modi government has denied claims that the US mediated the cessation of hostilities or that trade came up in discussions between Indian and American officials during the conflict. Modi has not personally addressed the claims. Meanwhile, the BJP has called Gandhi's mentality 'sick' and 'dangerous'. 'By making extremely cheap, low-level statements, the self-proclaimed, self-styled, supreme leader, the leader of opposition, Rahul Gandhi, is telling the world that even after becoming the LoP, he lacks seriousness and maturity that the post requires,' BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said on Wednesday. He added: 'The manner in which Rahul Gandhi compared our armed forces' valour and the briefing given by our armed forces on Operation Sindoor's success with surrender, shows how sick and dangerous his mentality has become.' BJP leaders maximise public outreach with personal touch
Ludhiana: With only a few days left for the West bypoll, senior leaders of the BJP have urged local leaders to make maximum public appearances. Those who were not coming forward for the campaign are now visible in the city. BJP leaders, who prefer door-to-door campaigns, are visiting different areas one by one. Sources said that recently, Punjab prabhari and former CM of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani also asked leaders to meet residents personally. On Friday, Rupani held a meeting with members of the Marwari community to solicit their votes. The party's national general secretary, Tarun Chugh, visited a few leaders and workers who wanted to contest the bypoll but did not get the ticket. BJP's bypoll candidate Jiwan Gupta is also visiting people and holding small public meetings in markets, parks and religious places. Apart from major temples in the West constituency, the party has made a list of gurdwaras where they are meeting people. BJP candidate Jiwan Gupta hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the biggest supporter of Punjab and Punjabiyat. Gupta said that after Independence, Congress or non-BJP parties have been ruling Punjab for about 60 to 65 years, but no one had shown sensitivity towards the state. Gupta reiterated the commitment of the BJP towards development, brotherhood, nationalism, drug eradication and harmony in Punjab. BJP activists protest in Mysuru over Bengaluru stampede
Mysuru: BJP activists protested near Ramaswamy Circle on Friday, condemning the state govt's stance on suspending the Bengaluru police commissioner. Led by Krishnaraja MLA TS Srivatsa, the activists accused the Congress govt of being responsible for the death of 11 RCB fans in the stampede, a day after RCB won its first IPL title. Chanting slogans naming CM Siddaramaiah as A1, deputy CM DK Shivakumar as A2, and home minister G Parameshwara as A3, the protesters demanded the resignation of Siddaramaiah. Srivatsa, addressing the protesters, said officials were held responsible for the Bengaluru incident and suspended, but questioned why there was no action against officials in the Muda scam in which Siddaramaiah was accused. He claimed the CM was misusing power for his benefit and convenience. The protesters accused the CM and Deputy CM of being directly responsible for the loss of 11 precious lives. They argued that the suspension of police officers was like deflecting someone's mistake onto others. City BJP chief L Nagendra, a former MLA, was also present.
