GTA Online age check settings confirmed real as screenshots leak

Metro4 days ago
Rockstar's rumoured age verification system for GTA Online appears to be real, as a reliable leaker unearths menu screens showing it in action.
The UK's Online Safety Act has led to a wave of newly implemented age checks across porn sites and social media, but it's creeping its way into gaming, too.
Platforms like Discord have already rolled out age verification systems to access certain features and age-restricted content, and a leaker earlier this month claimed Rockstar was planning to add something similar to GTA Online.
A week later, and the same leaker has posted further evidence that age verification in GTA Online is happening – this time via actual screenshots.
In a post on X, Tez2, a long-serving dataminer for Rockstar titles, posted screenshots of the menu screens showing the age check settings. 'A preview of age assurance in-game,' they wrote. 'This is not active yet.'
One screenshot shows a splash screen for GTA Online with 'please verify your age to access online features' emblazoned across the bottom.
Another screenshot shows new toggles in the settings menu, with the option to 'verify age' at the top and buttons below it to turn on online access, store access, and Snapmatic upload, presumably once you've confirmed your age.

Based on these screenshots, it's unclear what options there'll be to verify your age, but it will likely involve some kind of facial recognition scan or credit card details, based on what's been implemented elsewhere. More Trending
Rockstar hasn't officially announced any age check systems for GTA Online yet, but it certainly makes sense to avoid any blowback from these new laws – especially ahead of GTA 6 next year, which will likely become another focal point of controversy.
The big question, if these age checks are rolled out, is whether this might impact the sales of GTA 6 to some degree. Although considering adults have been buying 18+ games for underage teens for decades, this will likely just become another minor nuisance for parents who aren't that bothered about their offspring attending a virtual strip club.
GTA 6 is set to launch on May 26 next year across PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, but there are concerns it could be delayed again.

Huge US rock star shares very rare snap of lookalike son as turns he 18 – can you tell who his dad is?

A HUGE US rockstar has shared a rare snap of his look-a-like son on his milestone 18th birthday. The performer uploaded two sweet pictures showing the pair striking a sultry pose as well as on the day the teen was born. 5 5 White Stripes guitarist and lead singer Jack White was eager to celebrate his son Henry Lee White's special day with his thousands of followers. Henry, who leads a private life out of the spotlight, is one of Jack's two kids with former wife Karen Elson, who he married in 2005. The pair split in 2013. Henry looked just like his Seven Nation Army hitmaker father Jack in one snap, which saw the rocker posing with his guitar. The teen donned a black top as he stood in front of a speaker, with his floppy dark hair over his forehead. In his caption, Jack revealed his pet name for his son as he wrote: "Want to wish a very Happy 18th birthday to my one and only son Henry Lee White! "Been proud of this young man since day one! "Keep being you Hank." It is also a milestone year for Jack, who turned 50 in July. Fans were quick to react to the sweet upload and one wrote: "Like father, like son. Happy birthday 18th! Well done Pop and Mum!" A second put: "Happiest 18 Henry!!!" A third then wrote: "That's wonderful!! Happy birthday to your son!" OPENING UP Previously, Jack opened up on how parenting had changed him. In a candid chat, Black Math vocalist Jack told how welcoming daughter Scarlett, now 19, had "changed everything." He revealed to "I'm a very protective person and there's a big side of me, that when situations come up, things will happen. "Sometimes there's a voice inside me that says 'This element needs to be removed.' "But when you see life through a child's eyes, you take on a whole different protective nature." More recently, the rock icon revealed his balanced approached to parenting. He told Esquire three years ago: "Nobody wants to get out any harsh lessons to their own kids,' he continues. "It's unappealing when you've been through harsh lessons. But that's not exactly the right thing to do. "We all need lessons of different kinds—gentle, and sometimes harsh, and sometimes sad—to get to these really healthy places." 5 5

Take-Two refuses to comment on GTA 6 pricing, but says it'll be 'more value than what we charge'

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has spoken out about the pricing of GTA 6, though he was hesitant to make any concrete statements on the matter. The boss of Take-Two Interactive has remained tight-lipped on the potential price tag for the much-anticipated GTA 6, as fans anxiously await news of another possible steep price increase for what is set to be 2026's most eagerly awaited game. ‌ GTA 6 is poised to become one of the most significant video games in history if the current hype continues to build over the next few years. However, this brings its own challenges. Can Rockstar Games truly meet the high expectations and deliver one of the greatest games ever made? And if it scores a mere 7/10, would that be considered a failure for the company? ‌ There's a lot of uncertainty surrounding the game. While other titles are set to launch in 2026, such as the stunning Neverway revealed at the recent Nintendo Direct Indie World showcase, and a new Monster Hunter Stories title announced at its preceding Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, there's no doubt that GTA 6 will dominate the gaming conversation – if players can afford it. ‌ Following the audacious $80 price tag for Mario Kart World, and The Outer Worlds 2 being forced to slash its price due to player backlash, announced via Twitter, the discussion around video game prices has once again taken centre stage. Naturally, the world's most anticipated game has come under scrutiny. Yet, Take-Two Interactive has offered little insight into the matter, although there seems to be a hint that gamers might be spared another $80 release. ‌ Another GTA heist? Take-Two Interactive has been probed about the possibility of a particularly pricey GTA 6. While the company hasn't explicitly ruled out the idea of an £80 game, it has emphasised its commitment to providing players with value for money. "That announcement will come from Rockstar in due time," Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick told Variety. "Our goal always is to deliver more value than what we charge, so we've had variable pricing at the company forever. As you know, the approach of the industry is to launch at a premium price, sometimes with special editions, and over time, typically to reduce the price to enhance the overall size of the market. We do the very same thing. I think, probably more than most, we're highly focused on making sure that the experience is great, not just because the game itself is great, but also because consumers have paid a fair price for it." Zelnick has kept mum on the burning question, but he's hinted that GTA 6 will be worth every penny. Rockstar Games is in a privileged position with its biggest franchise – even if they slapped a £100 price tag on each copy, it would still fly off the shelves and become one of the best-selling titles ever. Whether this practice is ethical or not is up to the fans to decide, but if anyone can pull it off, it's Rockstar. We're not out of the woods yet, but that doesn't mean we aren't being pursued by a red-eyed, raging price tag.

GTA 6 might be cheaper than expected as Take-Two boss talks 'fair price'

Take-Two Interactive's CEO has addressed questions about the price of GTA 6, stating they want to offer 'more value than what we charge'. With the release date officially announced, one of the other big questions about GTA 6 is how much the massive open world blockbuster will cost. Several analysts have claimed it will cost around £100, a dramatic increase from the £70 most people pay today for the likes of Call Of Duty and EA Sports FC. Although we've already seen signs this average price could soon increase, led by the £75 price for the physical version of Mario Kart World. While Rockstar is yet to announce the price tag for GTA 6, Take-Two Interactive CEO and chairman Strauss Zelnick has discussed the company's approach to pricing – emphasising how it wants to deliver 'more value than what we charge'. When asked by Variety about the sequel's price, Zelnick said: 'So now that announcement will come from Rockstar in due time. Our goal always is to deliver more value than what we charge, so we've had variable pricing at the company forever. 'As you know, the approach of the industry is to launch at a premium price, sometimes with special editions, and over time, typically to reduce the price to enhance the overall size of the market. We do the very same thing. I think, probably more than most, we're highly focused on making sure that the experience is great, not just because the game itself is great, but also because consumers have paid a fair price for it.' While it's a vague answer, the mention of a 'fair price' certainly doesn't scream a potential £100 price point – even though many fans would surely pay that. Last month, leaker Millie A claimed the base version of GTA 6 would match the industry's current standard price of £69.99, but it will have several more expensive special editions. More Trending According to the leaker, along with the standard £69.99 version, there will be a £89.99 deluxe edition with early access to GTA Online, and a premium version priced at £109.99 with even earlier access to GTA Online. This sounds plausible, especially as GTA Online has been Rockstar's biggest money spinner for years, so it's not necessarily in Take-Two's favour to make the cost of entry for the game too expensive. Following its latest financial results, Take-Two is not short of money. In the first fiscal quarter of 2026, the company saw net bookings increase by 16% to $1.42 billion (£1.05 billion). This was described as 'significantly above the guidance range' for the period, which was $1.25 billion to $1.3 billion (£967,000). In light of these figures, Take-Two has raised its projections for Q2 to between $6.05 billion to $6.15 billion (£4.5 billion). Over the next quarter, the company is set to release Mafia: The Old Country, NBA 2K26, and Borderlands 4. Email gamecentral@ leave a comment below, follow us on Twitter.
