J.J. Watt is right, Steelers made a mistake not extending T.J. Watt in 2024
The two-time Defensive Player of the Year and future Hall of Famer DE J.J. Watt has thrown in his two cents regarding a potential T.J. Watt contract extension—and the Pittsburgh Steelers may not like it.
While making an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Watt argued that the longer the Steelers delay extending his brother, the bigger the price tag will get:
"My personal belief—they should have done it last year. I think there was a hometown discount to be had last year. Now, the longer you wait this year—you got Micah [Parsons] coming up. Like you said, you got Aidan Hutchinson, you got Myles [Garrett], you got these guys getting new deals. That number is gonna inch closer to fours in front of it instead of threes."
Watt reiterated that while he would hate to be the 'holdout guy,' he understands that life-changing money is worth protecting his body until an extension is reached.
"Congratulations to Maxx Crosby he absolutely deserves that deal..The earlier you can get a deal done the better it is for everybody" ~ @JJWatt #PMSLive pic.twitter.com/IAaJiKDrID

Although Steelers President Art Rooney II has stated that a Watt extension is a priority, the team's lack of urgency set the team up for disastrous situations—like a holdout or trade request.

Steelers' Will Howard thankful for 'great mentor' Aaron Rodgers: 'He's been so good to me'
Aaron Rodgers is doing everything he can to mentor Will Howard — and the Steelers rookie greatly appreciates it. At mandatory minicamp, Howard was asked by reporters how his interactions have been with Rodgers — and this was his response (courtesy of Steelers Live): '[Rodgers] is a great mentor — already treated me with the utmost respect and just been really good to me,' Howard said. 'And a guy like that, he doesn't have to do that. I really just appreciate him being willing to take me under his wing a little bit and give me pointers and tips here and there. There's already some things that he's said to me that have already helped me.' Howard told reporters that Rodgers advised him not to get too wide at the top of his five-step drop, in order to generate more force in his throws — a difference the rookie says he already felt on the field. What Jets' Aaron Glenn said about Aaron Rodgers signing with the Steelers
What Jets' Aaron Glenn said about Aaron Rodgers signing with the Steelers The New York Jets will see a familiar foe in their first game under the watch of head coach Aaron Glenn. Former Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers. That union was long expected but has finally actually happened. The Jets also broke for the six weeks as the offseason is in full swing. Minicamp just ended this past week. Just before departing, Glenn was asked about facing Rodgers, who he decided to part ways with earlier this spring in one of his first decisions as head coach. Glenn did his best to downplay it, but he did admit he was trying to "hold back" his smile when asked about Rodgers. Glenn's full thoughts can be found in the clip below:

DK Metcalf says Steelers defense is so loud, he couldn't hear Mason Rudolph's adjustments
DK Metcalf says Steelers defense is so loud, he couldn't hear Mason Rudolph's adjustments Minkah Fitzpatrick's 'communicate or get benched' warning seems to be working — as DK Metcalf claimed the Steelers defense was so loud, he couldn't hear his QB's adjustments. At mandatory minicamp, Metcalf spoke highly of Joey Porter Jr., Darius Slay Jr., and Fitzpatrick — before switching gears to detail how loud the Steelers' defensive communication was (courtesy of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette): 'The defense is great, just going against them after yesterday — high energy group, very communicative,' Metcalf said. 'I was joking with Calvin [Austin III] that for the first play out there, I couldn't hear any of the checks that Mason [Rudolph] — or the snap count that Mason was saying, 'cause the defense was talking so much. It's just refreshing to see a defense that communicates, and we're just trying to model our game after them.' Fitzpatrick previously argued that the defensive struggles of 2024 fell squarely on the shoulders of poor communication — with Metcalf's recent comments serving as proof of a massive step in the right direction for the unit.
