Boy suffers scratches as leopard lunges at safari bus in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: Visitors on safari at Bannerghatta Biological Park (BBP) panicked Friday afternoon when a leopard reportedly lunged at a 12-year-old boy seated inside a bus operated by KSTDC (Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation). The boy who was sitting by a window of the bus suffered scratches, BBP said. According to BBP officials, the incident occurred during a post-lunch safari trip when the KSTDC bus entered the leopard safari enclosure. "A leopard suddenly jumped onto the safari bus. The boy suffered minor scratches when the leopard brushed its claws against the window grills," an official said. The child, reportedly a resident of Bommanahalli, visited the park with his family during the Independence Day school holiday. Alert staff onboard the bus and in the safari area immediately intervened and drove away the leopard, after which the situation was brought under control. BBP officials described the incident as minor.
