The Cabinet reviewed the preparations undertaken by relevant authorities for the Hajj season.
This comes following the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to support Bahrain's pilgrims who will perform this year's Hajj pilgrimage.
These preparations include the administrative and medical services to ensure the pilgrims' well-being.
This follows a revision of a report submitted by the Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs, and Endowments in this regard.
The Deputy Prime Minister, His Excellency Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, yesterday chaired the weekly Cabinet Meeting at Gudaibiya Palace.
The Cabinet reaffirmed the strength of the longstanding Bahrain-UAE relations and the mutual commitment to advancing cooperation in line with shared development goals.
It commended His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's visit to the United Arab Emirates, and his meeting with the President His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Successful hosting
The Cabinet praised Bahrain's successful hosting of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Congress, which brought together 180 national federations, underscoring the Kingdom's growing stature in hosting international sporting events.
It attributed this achievement to the support of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty the King's Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, and His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority, and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, in enhancing the Kingdom's sports standing.
The Cabinet also recognised the efforts of His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Deputy President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee and Chairman of the Supreme Organising Committee of the 2025 FIBA Congress and Hall of Fame Ceremony, as well as the efforts of the Ministry of Tourism, along with other relevant authorities, in organising the Basketball event.
Congratulations
The Cabinet congratulated the winners of the fifth edition of the King Hamad Award for Agricultural Development, affirming the award's importance in fostering innovation and competitiveness within the agricultural sector.
It welcomed the Kingdom of Bahrain's election as the ViceChair of the Executive Bureau of the Council of Arab Health Ministers, as well as the Minister of Health's election as the Vice President of the World Health Assembly milestones that reflect the Kingdom's international health standing and the advanced capabilities of its national workforce.
Beneficiary
The Cabinet highlighted the Kingdom's first beneficiary of the 'Tas'heel+' programme, which was processed within a record time of a week since application.

Lionel Messi and Argentina Team Confirmed to Play in Kerala This November

Kerala Sports Minister V. Abdurahiman has reiterated that Argentina's national football team, led by captain Lionel Messi, will play in the state this November despite growing political controversy and uncertainty over sponsorship. Speaking on Saturday, Abdurahiman dismissed speculation that the plan had collapsed, insisting that Kerala remains on track to host the football icons. 'The Argentina team has not said they will skip Kerala. On the contrary, we have been informed of their arrival in November. Security arrangements have already been requested,' the Minister stated. Opposition Questions Credibility The assurance follows pointed criticism from the Opposition Congress party. State Congress president Sunny Joseph accused the government of raising 'false hopes' over Messi's arrival and demanded clarity, arguing that repeated announcements without formal confirmation from the Argentina Football Association (AFA) risked misleading the public. The Minister, however, stressed there was no ambiguity. He noted that Messi's reported visits to Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, and Delhi in mid-November were personal appearances unrelated to Kerala's proposed fixture with the AFA. Reports suggested that Messi could appear in Kolkata on November 12, Ahmedabad on the 13th, Mumbai on the 14th, and Delhi on the 15th, where he may also meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Sponsorship Setback and Contract Dispute Adding to the confusion, AFA's Head of Marketing, Leandro Peterson, alleged that the Kerala government had breached its contract, leading to the collapse of the original sponsorship deal. This fueled speculation that Messi's Kerala appearance might be cancelled. Abdurahiman countered these claims, saying that the AFA had assured him the event would proceed. 'My visit to Spain was not just about meeting AFA officials, but also to hold discussions with Spain's Sports Council on the new stadium project in Thiruvananthapuram,' he explained. He confirmed that talks with potential new sponsors are underway. Optimism Despite Uncertainty Despite the conflicting signals, the Kerala government remains optimistic. The Minister insisted that Messi and his team will take the field in Kerala this November, framing the visit as both a sporting milestone and an opportunity to showcase the state's readiness to host international events. For football fans in India, the government's assurances mean the possibility of seeing Lionel Messi play in Kerala remains alive — though doubts fueled by sponsorship issues and political disputes continue to linger.
