Traffic diversion in and around ISKCON temple in Bengaluru for Krishna Janmasthami on August 15-16
Elaborate arrangements have been made on the occasion of Sri Krishna Janmashtami festival celebrations around the ISKCON temple on West of Chord Road at Rajajinagar in Bengaluru considering lakhs of devotees and dignitaries are expected to visit the temple for darshan (viewing the deity) on August 15 and 16. The traffic police requested devotees coming for darshan to use public transport. Passes have been issued by the temple management, and such pass holders are requested to park their vehicles only at designated areas. Devotees visiting the temple are requested to complete their darshan preferably before 5 PM. Senior citizens and children are requested to complete their darshan before 12 noon, and return home safely. Devotees coming for darshan are requested not to carry jewellery or valuable items. After the darshan, people are requested to exit the temple premises promptly without engaging in selfies, photography, or activities that may cause inconvenience to others. Traffic diversion Vehicles coming from Soap Factory Junction on West of Chord Road towards Vijayanagar, Nandini Layout, and Mahalakshmi Layout should proceed via Dr. Rajkumar Road, turn right at 10th Cross or Kethamaranahalli Junction, and reach Chord Road via 1st Block Rajajinagar Signal. Pick-up and drop-off from Soap Factory Junction to Mahalakshmi metro station on West of Chord Road is prohibited. Auto and cab drivers bringing the people to ISKCON temple are allowed to pick-up and drop-off near Mahalakshmi metro station or Soap Factory. Devotees coming in private vehicles to ISKCON can pick-up and drop-off on the road from Mahalakshmi metro station towards Soap Factory. KSRTC and private buses traveling towards Majestic via Tumakuru Road are advised to take the route via Yeshwantpur flyover – Circle Maramma – Margosa Road – K.C.G. Signal, and proceed through Link Road.

KSRTC parking at Pampa hilltop: Devaswom board resists plan
PATHANAMTHITTA: The district administration's plan to explore parking facilities for KSRTC buses at Pampa hilltop has met with resistance from Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB), which maintains that it owns the land. 'Neither KSRTC nor the district administration can decide on parking without TDB's sanction. Such matters should be inspected and approved by the high-power committee,' TDB president P S Prashanth told TNIE. The proposal was discussed during a review meeting chaired by District Collector S Prem Krishnan. The meeting was held to assess preparations for the upcoming Sabarimala Mandala-Makaravilakku festival. The official issued after the meeting announced that queues will be introduced for pilgrims boarding KSRTC buses, and possibility of a parking space for 20 KSRTC buses at Pampa Hilltop will be examined. However, Prashanth said the decision cannot be taken by the district administration single-handedly. 'We have been providing parking facilities for KSRTC, but that does not mean they can take unilateral decisions on the matter,' Prashanth said. Temporary covered walkway At the meeting, it was decided to construct a temporary covered walkway (pandal) from Marakkoottam to Saramkuthi neck point. The structure, aimed at improving pilgrim comfort, will extend from the banyan tree at Saramkuthi down to the U-turn on the footpath, covering about 1.5 km in two sections. Ahead of Onam, KSRTC set to roll out premium buses with vibrant look
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: After a nine-year gap, KSRTC is rolling out new buses, with nearly150 vehicles sporting fresh colour themes set to hit the road ahead of Onam. The fleet includes fast passenger, super fast, fast passenger link, premium seater, sleeper, and seater-cum-sleeper categories. The designs blend aesthetics with vibrant hues. Sleeper services feature a Tricolour livery with a kathakali motif, while fast passenger and link services retain their classic red-and-white, light green, and blue themes in updated shades. Premium buses come with wide leather seats, wooden panelling, reading lights, mobile holders, AC vents, ambient lighting, and TVs. All buses are equipped with CCTV cameras. Transport Minister K B Ganesh Kumar, who took a special interest in the bus aesthetics, inspected the first batch at the Central Works unit in Thiruvananthapuram, on Tuesday. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will flag off the vehicles at a function in Anayara on August 21. 'We have started receiving the buses in batches. The first batch will be launched on August 21. The Chief Minister will also launch the digital initiatives of KSRTC which include travel cards,' said an officer. The buses will be showcased at a Transport Expo at Kanakakunnu from August 22 to 24. KSRTC will also conduct a Transport Expo at Kanakakunnu to showcase the new buses from August 22 to 24. KSRTC has placed orders for 340 new buses.
