Pramod Sawant
said on Saturday that Goa is a 'yog bhumi' (land of yoga) and not a 'bhog bhumi' (land of enjoyment). He said that initially, people came to Goa for the sun, sand, and sea, but today, they visit for the temples and culture.
Addressing over 14,000 people at the Sanatan Rashtra Shankhnad Mahotsav, he said that anyone who wants to see beautiful and clean temples must come to Goa.
He also said that the
Sanatan Sanstha
has created awareness about Hindutva. 'Whenever people come to Goa, they think Goa is a 'bhog bhumi'. This is not 'bhog bhumi', but this is '
yog bhumi
'. This is cow bhumi and Parshuram bhumi,' he said.
He also said that those who have come to Goa to attend the mahotsav would create awareness about temples and culture in their states, which will help boost tourism and the economy of Goa.
Sawant also said that there is no govt involvement in managing temple affairs. 'Local villagers and committees are responsible for the management of
temples in Goa
. In every village in Goa, we have gods like Shankar, Shantadurga, and Sattari,' he said.
He also said that Goa is the only state in India that follows a common civil code, and that the people of the state are proud of it. He also said that state govt pays Rs 80 per cow to protect it from slaughter.

Union minister of state State Shripad Naik said that today, the country is facing attacks from outsiders and called for national unity. 'To move ahead, the programme organised by Sanatan Sanstha will give us direction to make India a cultural country. We know what Sanatan rashtra and
Hindu rashtra
are. Sanatan rashtra means no injustice to anybody, and we will achieve this purpose. We all will work to make this a Hindu rashtra,' he said.
Devkinandan Thakur, a spiritual leader, said that the movement to make a Hindu rashtra has kicked off from Goa, with the Shankhnad Mahotsav.
'Goa was known for tourism and casinos. Just now, I came to know that around 70-75% of those who live in Goa are Hindus. I have discussed this, and we have to promote this. Goa is not just to sit on the beach but to worship Shankar and Lord Parshuram,' he said.
He also stated that all those who have come to attend the mahotsav have the purpose of making a Hindu rashtra. 'Everyone wants a Hindu rashtra, and it is important to think like that,' he said.

Once operational, the journey from Noida to Indira Gandhi International Airport will take only 20 minutes. As reported by India Today, this route will offer great convenience to travellers to and from West Delhi and the NCR, and relieve the congested Ring Road in the city. Once these projects are complete, they would relieve congestion on the internal roads, relieving the pressure on NH-48, NH-44, the Ring Road, and finally the Barapulla Elevated Corridor. The estimated construction cost of UER-II is Rs 3,300 crore. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate two major National Highway projects worth a combined cost of nearly Rs 11,000 crore on 17th August, 2025, at around 12:30 PM in Rohini, Delhi. The projects, the Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway and the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II), have been developed under the Government's comprehensive plan to decongest the capital, with the objective of greatly improving connectivity, cutting travel time, and reducing traffic in Delhi and its surrounding initiatives reflect Prime Minister Modi's vision of creating world-class infrastructure that enhances ease of living and ensures seamless mobility. The section will also provide Multi-modal connectivity to Yashobhoomi, DMRC Blue line and Orange line, the upcoming Bijwasan railway station and the Dwarka cluster Bus Depot. 'This section comprises: Package I covers a 5.9 km stretch from the Shiv Murti intersection to the Road Under Bridge (RUB) at Dwarka Sector-21, while Package II spans 4.2 km from the Dwarka Sector-21 RUB to the Delhi-Haryana border, offering direct connectivity to Urban Extension Road-II,' the statement from PMO added. Bangladesh Army Chief issues Big statement, says Grand Janmashtami rally will now..., Wakar Uz Zaman now plans to...

Rebellion in Bangladesh army, many officers against military chief, tension for India due to... New Delhi: In a major statement, Bangladesh Army Chief General Wakar Uz Zaman has said that the country belongs to people of all religions and communities. During his address to the Hindu devotees gathered at the Dhakeshwari Temple at the inauguration of the Janmashtami rally, General Wakar Uz Zaman said that all citizens living in Bangladesh are equal, regardless of their religion or region. Extending his greetings on Janmashtami, he urged everyone to celebrate the festival with joy and harmony. It is important to note that the statement comes at a time when minorities are facing massive atrocities in Bangladesh. Since Yunus took charge of the interim government in August last year, minority Hindus and temples have increasingly been targeted in Bangladesh. Against this backdrop, the Army Chief, through his speech, sent out a strong message to extremist elements. People of all religions should live together: General Zaman During his address, General Zaman thanked the temple committee for inviting him to the Janmashtami celebrations. 'Bangladesh is a land of harmony, where Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, Christians, hill communities, and Bengalis have been living together peacefully for centuries. On this sacred occasion of Janmashtami, our pledge should be to preserve this brotherhood forever.' Zaman emphasized, 'Bangladesh belongs to everyone; there will be no division here. There can be no discrimination on the basis of religion, caste, or creed. We are all citizens of this land, and we all have equal rights to it. Together, we aspire for a bright future.' Janmashtami Rally Will Be Held Every Year: The Army Chief said that the Janmashtami procession used to be a major annual tradition in Dhaka during the 19th and 20th centuries, but it had been discontinued in recent times. He expressed full confidence that the Janmashtami rally will now be held every year. He assured that whatever support is required from them will definitely be provided.

Bare hands, broken lives: The untold story of Odisha's drain cleaners

Narrow definition It's a narrow definition of law that keeps these sanitary workers out of the ambit of social security while denying them safety and dignity at work. The Prohibition of Employment as Manual Scavengers and their Rehabilitation Act, 2013 (or MS Act, 2013) defines manual scavengers as people who manually clean or handle untreated human excreta from insanitary latrines or railway tracks. Under Section 2(g) of the Act, hazardous cleaning of sewer lines, septic tanks, manholes and interceptor chambers is strictly prohibited and a punishable offence. As per reports of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Odisha had only 230 manual scavengers (till July 2024) and there are no dry/insanitary latrines (which need manual cleaning) in the state. These 230 persons have been completely rehabilitated, as per government records. Workers like Purnima and Dhananjay scavenge all forms of waste including human waste from open drains but do not come under the ambit of manual scavenging given the definition. Because, they do not work in dry/insanitary latrines which as per official records do not exist. And going by the same definition, the Odisha government asserts that the state is free from the practice of manual scavenging which is majorly mechanised now. The Safai Karamchari Andolan in Odisha has long been demanding identification of workers engaged for drain desiltation as manual scavengers but in vain. National convenor of the Andolan and Ramon Magsaysay awardee Bezwada Wilson said it is a fact that many houses in urban areas of Odisha do not have septic tanks even today. 'Both kitchen and bathroom water and everything else comes to these drains including untreated human excreta. So, cleaning these drains should be considered manual scavenging,' added Wilson. All the civic bodies play it smartly as they outsource the drain desiltation work to private agencies who, in turn, employ sanitary workers on a daily wage basis. Considered unskilled, these workers get roughly around Rs 430 per day as daily wage. And work without any form of protection. Only a few are under the payroll of the agencies which provide them a salary of around Rs 12,000 with EPF benefits.
