Temporary traffic diversion activated on KL-Karak Expressway
Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) Director-General Datuk Sazali Harun said the diversion redirects the existing three-lane carriageway to a one-way lane on the opposite side towards Kuala Lumpur.
This maintains a three-lane capacity to ensure smooth traffic flow during the diversion.
"The Traffic Management Plan design has been reviewed and approved by a road safety auditor through the Stage 4 Part 1 Road Safety Audit.
"The next audit, RSA Stage 4 Part 2, will be carried out on Wednesday (July 30) to assess compliance during implementation and to propose improvements based on construction progress," he said in a statement on Thursday (July 17).
He added that LLM, together with concessionaire AFA PRIME Bhd and Malaysia Rail Link, has been conducting continuous monitoring since the diversion's activation.
"The latest monitoring carried out on Monday (July 14) showed that traffic at the location remained orderly, controlled and smooth."
He advised road users to adhere to safety signage at the site and to plan their journeys in advance to avoid congestion.

KUALA LUMPUR July 30 — Two major expressways here will be temporarily closed this Sunday to accommodate the annual IJM Duo Highway Challenge Run. New Pantai Expressway (NPE) and Sungai Besi Expressway (Besraya) will be shut down from 1am to 11am on August 3, according to a joint announcement from the highway operators. The NPE closure will affect the stretch from KM 1.8 at Kewajipan Roundabout in Subang Jaya to KM 11 towards Bangsar, as well as the section from Kuchai Lama Entrepreneurs Park to Pantai Dalam Toll Plaza in both directions. Meanwhile, Besraya will be closed from the Kuchai Lama Interchange to Jalan Pandan 1 at KM 21.9 towards Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) in both directions during the same period. The title sponsor for the run is IJM Corporation Berhad, which owns both expressways as well as the Kajang–Seremban Highway (Lekas). Malaysia holds special meeting to improve highway telecom coverage
KUALA LUMPUR: A special meeting was held to tackle telecommunications and internet coverage issues on Malaysian highways, according to Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi. The discussion involved Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), and the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM). The meeting was prompted by frequent complaints from highway users about dropped calls and poor connectivity. Nanta stated, 'To date, approximately 50 kilometres of highways have been identified as not receiving telecommunications coverage, including in several sections of the PLUS Expressway, West Coast Expressway (WCE) and East Coast Highway 2 (LPT2).' Key outcomes from the meeting include the formation of a Special LLM-MCMC Task Force. This team will coordinate an action plan, identify critical drop call zones, and assess the need for additional telecom infrastructure. Highway concessionaires will also be engaged to implement both short and long-term solutions. Nanta emphasized the urgency of the matter, saying, 'This issue cannot be taken lightly. In an all-digital world, access to the internet and telecommunications network is no longer a luxury, but a basic necessity, including when on the highway.' Additionally, regional LLM and state MCMC teams are conducting on-site inspections to evaluate power supply facilities for infrastructure upgrades. Nanta also proposed MCMC's direct involvement in resolving frequency disruptions and supporting the multi-lane free flow (MLFF) system.
