Saudi Arabia gives confirmation on no refunds for cancelled exit and re-entry visas to the country
Saudi Arabia
's General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) has confirmed that exit and re-entry
visa
fees are non-refundable, even if the visa is cancelled. This clarification was issued following a public inquiry as thousands of expatriates plan travel during the summer break, as per a report by Gulf News.
A resident recently asked if fees could be reclaimed after cancelling an exit and re-entry permit. In response, the
Passports Department
stated, 'If the exit and re-entry visa is cancelled, the fees are non-refundable.'
According to the Gulf News report, under current visa rules, a single exit and re-entry visa costs 200 Saudi riyals and is valid for up to two months. An additional SAR 100 is charged for each extra month, provided it remains within the validity of the resident permit (iqama). For multiple exit and re-entry visas, the fee is 500 riyals for up to three months and 200 riyals per additional month.

Hijri New Year 2025: UAE declares June 27 as paid holiday for private sector
Employees with Saturday-Sunday weekends will enjoy a rare three-day break as Hijri New Year falls on a Friday (Representational Image) Friday, June 27, 2025, has been declared an official paid holiday for private sector employees in the United Arab Emirates in observance of the Islamic (Hijri) New Year 1447 AH, according to an announcement issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (Mohre) on Monday, June 16. The announcement aligns with an earlier confirmation by the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, which extended the same day off to public sector employees. This reflects the UAE's unified national holiday policy that ensures both public and private sector workers receive equal official holidays throughout the year. For employees with a standard Saturday-Sunday weekend, this creates a three-day long weekend from June 27 to June 29, with regular work expected to resume on Monday, June 30. The holiday is part of the UAE Cabinet's approved list of official holidays for 2025, and follows the extended break residents recently enjoyed during the Eid Al Adha holidays earlier in June. The Islamic, or Hijri, New Year, also referred to as Hijri New Year, marks the beginning of the Islamic lunar calendar and falls on the first day of Muharram , the first month in the Hijri calendar. The Hijri calendar is based on lunar months and differs from the Gregorian calendar in both structure and observance. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo The occasion commemorates the Hijrah, or migration, of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) from Mecca to Medina in the year 622 CE, an event that marks the start of the Islamic calendar. While not typically celebrated on the same scale as Eid Al Fitr or Eid Al Adha, it remains a solemn and significant religious date and is recognized with a public holiday in the UAE. The ministry's announcement applies to all private sector companies operating within the UAE. Looking ahead, the next Islamic holiday is expected to be Mawlid Al Nabawi, or the Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) birthday, which is anticipated to fall on Thursday, September 4, 2025, corresponding to the 12th day of Rabi Al Awwal. As with all Islamic holidays, the exact date will be confirmed by the moon-sighting committee and relevant religious authorities in the UAE. Following that, the UAE National Day holidays will be observed on Tuesday and Wednesday, December 2–3, marking the country's founding with a two-day mid-week break. Under UAE law, the handling of official holidays is governed by several key provisions: Article No. 2 of the Cabinet resolution states that, except for Eid holidays, official public holidays may be moved to the beginning or end of the week by a Cabinet decision. Article No. 3 clarifies that if a holiday coincides with a weekend or another public holiday, it will not be carried forward. Article No. 4 permits local governments to approve additional official holidays not listed in the federal resolution for special occasions or institutional needs. The announcement reaffirms the UAE's structured and transparent approach to managing public holidays across all sectors, allowing residents to plan their personal and professional commitments in advance.

Fighter jets, refuelling aircraft, frigate: UK assets in Mideast
Britain is deploying extra fighter jets and other assets to the Middle East amid the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has said. Below, AFP takes a look at the UK's military presence in the region. - 'Contingency support' - by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Play this game for 1 minute and see why everyone is addicted. Undo Starmer told reporters travelling with him on his plane to Canada for G7 talks on Saturday that Britain was "moving assets to the region, including jets... for contingency support". The jets are Eurofighter Typhoon planes , according to Britain's defence ministry. Live Events Additional refuelling aircraft have also been deployed from UK bases, according to Downing Street. Royal Air Force fighter planes are already in the region as part of Operation Shader , the codename given to Britain's contribution to the international campaign against the Islamic State group. RAF Typhoon jets aided Israel in April 2024 when they shot down an unspecified number of drones fired by Iran, as confirmed by the UK's then-prime minister, Rishi Sunak. Starmer, Sunak's successor, refused to speculate whether the UK would become directly involved this time in the conflict between the arch foes, which entered their fourth day on Monday. Iran threatened to target American, British and French bases if Western countries intervened to stop Iranian strikes on Israel. Tehran also urged London, Paris and Berlin to pressure Israel to stop its deadly attacks on Iran. - Air bases - The UK Ministry of Defence did not confirm where the fighter jets were heading to but the BBC reported they would be operating from RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus, Britain's largest air force base in the region. The permanent joint operating base is where RAF jets fly from for Operation Shader. Transport, air-to-air refuelling and reconnaissance aircraft operate from there and Britain's other base on Cyprus at Dhekelia. The RAF's operational headquarters in the Middle East is housed at Al Udeid air base in Qatar, a site that is also used by the US Air Force. Britain's air force also operates from Al Minhad air base in the United Arab Emirates and Al Musannah air base in Oman, according to information provided by the UK parliament. - Navy and army - The British Royal Navy's main operations site in the Middle East is the UK Naval Support Facility in Bahrain in the Gulf. A type-23 frigate is permanently based there, as are four mine-counter vessels and a Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessel, according to research complied by the House of Commons library. The navy has also operated a logistics base at Duqm port in Oman, by the Arabian Sea, since 2018. The British Army permanently deploys two infantry battalions to the bases on Cyprus. Some 2,220 British soldiers were stationed there as of April last year, according to Ministry of Defence (MoD) statistics. UK troops are also involved in training Iraqi and Kurdish security forces in combatting IS. Two hundred personnel were deployed on operations in Iraq as of January 2024, according to the MoD.
