SoloEra Solo 1C electric motorcycle attracts over 6,000 customers, production is underway

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 20 — Over 6,000 customers have pre-ordered the SoloEra Solo 1C, according to Blueshark Malaysia and its manufacturing partner, EPMB. The electric motorcycle made its way to headlines back in July, mainly due to its affordable price tag of just RM599.
Blueshark and EPMB have also confirmed that the production of Solo 1C has now begun at EPMB's plant in Glenmarie, Shah Alam. Capable of producing 12,000 electric motorcycles per year, SoloEra's two other models, Solo 2 and Solo 3, are also in production, even though the official launch of SoloEra itself has not yet taken place.
Blueshark Malaysia has previously said that the Solo 1C delivery timeframe is around 1 to 6 months after booking confirmation. If their bike is not delivered within 6 months, customers can then request a refund for their RM278 booking deposit.
Why is SoloEra 1C priced at just RM599?
According to Blueshark, the pre-launch price tag for the SoloEra 1 is actually RM2,999. This price tag is not inclusive of other related charges such as admin fee, JPJ registration fee, number plate installation, and insurance.
As it is being assembled locally, the SoloEra 1C is eligible for the MARiiCAS rebate, which is currently being reserved exclusively for Completely Knocked-Down (CKD) electric motorcycles. The MARiiCAS RM2,400 helps cut down the SoloEra 1 price tag to just RM599.

Once the 5-year period is over, customers will have the option to either continue paying for the battery rental on a monthly basis or directly purchase a new battery. The pricing of the battery will be announced during the official launch of SoloEra later this year.
SoloEra Solo 1C quick specs
Equipped with a 2kW (2.7hp) electric motor, the SoloEra Solo 1C is powered by a removable 70.4V 28Ah (1.97kWh) LFP battery. With a 75kg rider, the electric bike is capable of delivering up to 101km of NEDC-rated range and can reach a top speed of 75km/h.
Weighing just 84kg, it is still capable of carrying a maximum payload of 220kg. The Solo 1C also comes with 4 riding modes, including reverse assist and is capable of going up an incline of up to 15 degrees.
For braking, the Solo 1C relies on CBS-based disc brakes, and it has also been fitted with a pair of 12-inch wheels with 100/70 tyres.
In terms of charging, it takes around 3.5 to 4 hours to charge the battery from 20 per cent to 100 per cent. While Blueshark is planning to offer a battery swapping plan for Solo 1C similar to the R1 and R1 Lite, pre-order customers will be provided with a home charger alongside their bike.
The Solo 1C will also be able to support the SoloEra mobile app, which explains why customers need to subscribe to the connectivity plan. KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 20 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today said Malaysia's abundance of water and energy resources has made the country an attractive destination for data centre, semiconductor and artificial intelligence (AI) investors. For that reason, Anwar said the water and energy portfolios were placed under Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof as they are 'too strategic for the country'. 'If we ask investors, their first two reasons are usually water and energy, and professional workforce is only the third reason. 'We cannot defend our credibility as a peaceful and competent country if we cannot resolve basic issues such as energy and water,' he said at the official launch of the Langat 2 water treatment plant (LRA) at Hulu Langat, Selangor today. The prime minister also stressed the need to upgrade old pipes to reduce non-revenue water and prepare for droughts by exploring modern, water-efficient technologies. Constructed to meet rising demand in the Klang Valley, the Langat 2 water treatment plant can now treat up to 1,130 million litres of water per day (MLD) from Sungai Semantan in Pahang. The raw water is channelled from Sungai Semantan through a 44.6-kilometre tunnel across the Titiwangsa Range to Hulu Langat. The Langat 2 facility will supply treated water to the Western Corridor (KL City Centre, South KL, Petaling, Sungai Besi, Kinrara and Puchong) and the Northern Corridor (Ampang, North KL from Wangsa Maju to Maluri, Keramat and Gombak). The RM4.2 billion project was funded and developed by Pengurusan Aset Air Bhd (PAAB). The plant is equipped with modern technologies including the Granular Activated Carbon double filtration system, a lamella clarifier inclined plate settler, and real-time monitoring through the supervisory control and data acquisition system. It also incorporates environmentally friendly processes such as static mixing, zero discharge, and hosts Malaysia's first and longest pipe conveyor system for water treatment residual. Fadillah, who was also present at the launch, said Malaysia's water supply access stood at 97 per cent in 2024 while the water reserve margin in the peninsula and Labuan was at a satisfactory 14.9 per cent. He added that Malaysia aims to develop local water technologies that meet international standards under the Water Sector Transformation Plan 2040, as well as explore the use of recycled water for non-food industries.

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 20 — The government has assured that genuinely eligible B40 households will not be affected by the ongoing People's Housing Programme (PPR) whitening exercise carried out by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL). Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa said the Madani government inherited a big challenge in ensuring that PPR facilities truly reach those who are in need. She said that with rental rates as low as RM124 per month, PPR homes are among the government's major subsidies to help B40 families live more comfortably in the capital city, and the whitening process aims to ensure fairness in the allocation process. 'I felt compelled to respond to the issue of PPR eviction notices that have caused public concern in recent days. For those affected and wishing to appeal, they can do so within 30 days. 'For tenants facing rental arrears, DBKL is ready to negotiate instalment rates and schedules. Tenants only need to pledge to comply with the agreed schedule so that they can continue to stay in the PPR homes under the agreed-upon terms,' she said in a Facebook post today. Zaliha said DBKL has set clear eligibility conditions for tenants, including being a married Malaysian citizen couple, having a household income not exceeding RM3,000 for low-cost and RM4,000 for medium-cost units. Tenants must also not own any property or land within 35 kilometres of the city centre, hold the status of widow, widower, single parent, living or working in Kuala Lumpur, and be registered with DBKL. 'The whitening process conducted by DBKL is to enforce these conditions. 'Tenants were notified six months before the end of their lease, which is a standard review procedure carried out each time a rental contract expires,' she explained. She said out of the 3,379 tenants reviewed, 3,031 tenants or 89.7 per cent remain eligible and can continue renting, while 348 tenants or 10.3 per cent failed to have their leases renewed due to violations such as high rental arrears, household income exceeding eligibility limits, owning property within 35 km of Kuala Lumpur, non-citizen status of spouses, and not residing in the PPR unit. 'For the record, current arrears for PPR and DBKL public housing have reached up to RM70 million. This long-standing issue must be boldly addressed to ensure public housing initiatives are fair and truly assist those in need. 'Vacant units resulting from the whitening exercise will be reassigned to applicants with the greatest need,' she said. — Bernama
