Reddit feels Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par remake is a frame-by-frame copy of Campeones trailer: ‘Another remake after Laal Singh Chaddha'
Aamir Khan Productions unveiled the trailer of RS Prasanna's coming-of-age sports comedy Sitaare Zameen Par on Tuesday evening. While it's a spiritual sequel to Aamir Khan's 2007 directorial debut Taare Zameen Par, the lesser known fact is that it's an official remake of Javier Fesser's 2018 Spanish film Campeones.
A Redditor compared the trailers of both the films, and pointed out striking similarities. These include Aamir's character of the coach drinking while driving and bumping his car into a police van in the middle of the road, just like Javier Gutierrez's character in the original. Both are then penalized by the court to train a bunch of mentally challenged kids for a basketball tournament.
Other similarities include the coach's character throwing the basketball straight into the face of one of the kids, as the others shield their faces in the next shot. The bouncing boards of the protagonist are the same too — his friend and his mother — but his wife (played by Genelia D'Souza in Sitaare Zameen Par) — doesn't feature in the trailer of the Spanish original.
Looks like SZP is a frame-by-frame copy of the Spanish hit Campeones(2023).

'After the Forest Gump fiasco, he should have stayed away from remakes or adaptations,' commented another Redditor, referring to Aamir's last film, Advait Chandan's Laal Singh Chaddha (2022), the official Hindi remake of Robert Zemeckis' 1994 cult film Forrest Gump, starring Tom Hanks. Laal Singh Chaddha didn't work at the box office.
'Perfectionist in copying the film frame by frame,' claimed a Redditor, while another one pointed out, 'Look at his filmography again. He has remade the godfather, kramer vs kramer, on the waterfront, forrest gump. A lot of them have scenes lifted frame by frame. I still love Ghulam, akele hum etc. The point is he's had a lot of practice,' referring to Aamir's films Aatank Hi Aatank (1995), Akele Hum Akele Tum (1995), Ghulam (1998), and Laal Singh Chaddha respectively.
However, several others also defended Aamir. 'Official remake hai bhai toh of course usme konsi nayi baat hai (If it's an official remake, then what's the harm?),' wrote a Redditor. 'You're acting like people in India have all seen Champions and it's a massive hit here. No one gives a shit if it's a remake as no one has seen the original, all that matters is if it's a good film,' argued another.

Campeones has already been remade in English as Bobby Farrelly's Champions in 2023, starring Woody Harrelson as the coach. Meanwhile, Sitaare Zameen Par, which will launch 10 newcomers as the mentally challenged kids, also stars Dolly Ahluwalia as Aamir's mother. Sitaare Zameen Par is slated to release in cinemas on June 20.

Last Updated: Aamir Khan praised Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah during IPL 2025 final, calling them cricket's 'perfectionists' after Sachin Tendulkar. Aamir Khan made a rare appearance in the commentary box during the IPL 2025 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) clinched their first-ever IPL title by defeating Punjab Kings. Aamir joined former cricketer Suresh Raina and actor-politician Ravi Kishan to provide live Hindi and Bhojpuri commentary. Raina, in a lighthearted moment, asked Aamir to name the cricket equivalent of Bollywood's 'perfectionist." Aamir responded, 'I used to call Sachin Tendulkar a perfectionist. I feel that Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah are perfectionists. What a bowler he is." His remarks were met with nods of agreement as fans rejoiced in RCB's long-awaited triumph. Ravi Kishan, seated alongside Aamir, chimed in during the broadcast with praise for the actor's upcoming film. Speaking in Bhojpuri, he said, 'Main poori India ko bolna chahta hoon, ab Sitaare Zameen Par aa raha hai. Inhone mujh jaise sitaare ko movies mein wapas laya Parliament se, aur mujh jaise desi aadmi ko Oscar tak le kar gaye." After a three-year break from the big screen, Aamir is making his return with Sitaare Zameen Par, the spiritual successor to Taare Zameen Par. The film, which releases on June 20, revolves around a football coach who mentors a team of specially-abled children. Directed by R.S. Prasanna and produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit, the cast also features Genelia Deshmukh in a key role. Meanwhile, RCB's victory was nothing short of historic. The team defeated Punjab Kings by six runs to win their maiden IPL trophy, finally ending an 18-year drought. An emotional Virat Kohli addressed the fans after the win, saying, 'This win is as much for the fans as it is for the team. It has been 18 long years. I've given this team my youth, prime and experience… To finally have the IPL title is an unbelievable feeling." First Published:

'Sitaare Zameen Par' makers shares his opinion on marching of tech in cinema
Director R.S. Prasanna, who is awaiting the release of his upcoming film 'Sitaare Zameen Par', feels that human beings will soon catch up with the technological changes in filmmaking. The filmmaker spoke with IANS in the run-up to the release of his film, which features Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh. He recollected how he saw Indian cinema legend Kamal Haasan experimenting with a digital camera, Red Dragon. Speaking with IANS, Prasanna said, "I think the industry is pretty fast in adapting, like I remember when 35mm film was there and I was in film school and Kamal Haasan sir was testing the Red camera in our L.V. Prasad Film Institute, Chennai where I studied. He was doing a test shoot. I remember all the people around saying, 'it's just a fad and it'll not happen, it's not gonna happen', and it did". Aamir Khan's altered AI video hits cyberspace; 'Mr Perfectionist' issues clarification on 'endorsing' a particular political party The director said that one cannot stop the march of technology and one has to adapt. The audience will demand a change, the filmmakers will rise, the technological change will happen as it should, and experiments will keep happening, some will click, some will not. He further mentioned, "But I think one thing which will never change is the way our hearts beat, so as long as the heart is there in everything, the visual is only pixels, the sound is only decibels, but that feeling, that soul, that is, as long as we have a heart, stories told by humans will always be relevant". He then cited the example of romance as to how the shape or form of romance in cinematic storytelling has changed but the soul is the same. He shared, "If you see around yourself, romance has been there from early manage, they may say romance has changed, no romance has not changed, the medium has changed, today you call it situationship or anything else but, still the heart pains if you don't get to be with the person of your choice". "I feel unless genetically our heart changes or our mind changes, I think storytelling and emotions will be the same, the form will keep changing and we have to be on the awareness of that as a director, but I think for me as a filmmaker, I'm only looking for the soul, which I think soul is very old, so it won't change that fast", he added. Produced by Aamir Khan under his banner, Aamir Khan Productions, 'Sitaare Zameen Par' is set to release in cinemas on June 20, 2025.
