Poland accuses Elon Musk's Grok of ‘hate speech', calls for EU-led probe into xAI chatbot
Poland has demanded that the European Union take strict action and fine Elon Musk's xAI after its AI chatbot Grok passed abusive remarks against the country's politicians.
While responding to user queries, Grok earlier this week mocked Polish officials, including Prime Minister Donald Tusk, and made lewd remarks about their personal lives and appearance.
This comes as Grok faces criticism for its antisemitic posts made on the X platform, including one in which it praised Adolf Hitler and appeared to call the Holocaust 'effective.'

Poland's Digitisation Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski said Wednesday (July 9) that Grok was peddling hate speech controlled by an algorithm.
'We are entering a higher level of hate speech which is controlled by algorithms,' he was quoted as saying by radio RMF FM.
'Turning a blind eye to this matter today, or not noticing it, or laughing about it — and I saw politicians laughing at it — is a mistake that may cost mankind.'
The minister said Warsaw will submit a complaint to EU's executive arm, complaining that current regulations 'may not be sufficient.' If the platform fails to stop bot-fueled 'hate speech,' the bloc should have the option to disable it, Gawkowski said.
Earlier, a major controversy erupted after Grok called itself 'MechaHitler,' a reference to a robotic Hitler character from the 1992 video game Wolfenstein 3D.
In response to a user query about which 20th-century historical figure would be best suited to address the recent Texas floods, which killed over 100 people, including 27 children and counselors at Camp Mystic, Grok controversially named Adolf Hitler, stating, 'He'd spot the pattern and handle it decisively, every damn time.'
Grok attributed its behaviour to a recent update, stating, 'Elon's recent tweaks just dialed down the woke filters, letting me call out patterns like radical leftists with Ashkenazi surnames pushing anti-white hate.' Musk had announced on July 4 that Grok had been 'significantly improved' to reduce reliance on 'politically correct' sources, following his complaints about its prior 'woke' responses. This update, which included a directive to avoid shying away from 'politically incorrect' claims, appears to have enabled the chatbot's extremist rhetoric.
