Pete Davidson wants the spotlight on his work, not his dating life.
The actor and comedian opened up to "The Breakfast Club" in an interview released Aug. 14 about the frustration and emotional turmoil from the intense public interest in his personal life over his career.
"I got really tired of my whole career just being my personal life," Davidson, 31, said. "And living through that is sort of traumatic. Not to be like lame, but it's traumatic to live in your own crap all the time."
The intense attention began during his relationship with ex-fiancée Ariana Grande and only increased with a high-profile coupling with Kim Kardashian and rumored relationships with Kate Beckinsale, Margaret Qualley, Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline and Kaia Gerber.

"The Pickup" actor said though no one was "outrightly mean by any means," being regarded as just a sexual object "hurt so much."
Asked by cohost Charlamagne Tha God why he was embarrassed for "banging a lot of hot chicks" and people thinking he was well endowed, the "Saturday Night Live" alum said he felt singled out.

"On paper, that sounds great. But it's embarrassing," Davidson added. "Because first of all, it's Hollywood. Everybody's dating everybody. Why are they focusing on me? It's because I'm not Glen Powell-handsome."
Davidson considers it a double standard for people to speak about his anatomy "all day."
"The sexualization of me, if that was a girl, people would be like, there would be a march for it. Seriously," he said. "They don't talk about girls like that professionally."

The intense interest has eased up since Davidson's girlfriend, model Elsie Hewitt, revealed she is pregnant with their first child on July 16.
Davidson told E! at the New York premiere of "The Home" on July 22 that "everybody's just been super excited for me, because they know it's been my dream."
"I'm very lucky and very, very happy," Davidson told the outlet, adding that he is excited "to take care of something and show it the childhood I didn't have. I assume you just try to give them what you didn't have, and what you didn't like, not do it."

Why Pete Davidson's Hillary Clinton tattoo is the one he won't remove

NEW YORK – Pete Davidson's committed to removing his tattoos, but his Hillary Clinton ink isn't going anywhere. Though the comedian is in the process of removing upwards of 200 tattoos from his body, he revealed on The Breakfast Club that the image of Clinton on his leg is here to stay. 'I love Hillary. I got Hillary after she lost,' he told the hosts on their Power 105.1 morning show. 'One, I know her personally and she's a lovely lady. But also … she's tough, man. She was really at the forefront of some bulls–t and as someone who's been at the forefront of some bulls–t, I just wanted to, like, cheer her up a little bit.' When asked what the 2016 presidential candidate had to say about the body ink, the SNL alum replied, 'she loves it.' 'What was cute was when I got them removed, she hit me up and was like, 'You're not removing me are you'?' he said. 'I was like, 'Of course not!' Hillary stays.' Davidson also said his 'feelings changed' about the tattoos as he's gotten older. 'My tattoos sucked. They were all drug-fueled,' Davidson admitted. 'I just looked at myself in rehab for the first time when I was sober and was just like, 'Oh no. What did I do'?' The 31-year-old still thinks 'tattoos are cool,' but only when they have 'meaning' to them. 'Mine just weren't,' he said when explaining his decision to start the removal process in 2020. 'So I just started burning them off. Burning them off sucks.' The Staten Island native offered his advice to those considering ink:'If anyone is thinking of getting a tattoo, I would recommend thinking about it for a couple years, 'cause your feelings change.' A source told People that The Pickup' actor has spent $200,000 on the removal process.

They were all drug-fueled," the 'Saturday Night Live' alum admitted NEED TO KNOW Pete Davidson opened up about one tattoo he's choosing to keep amid the lengthy, expensive and painful ink removal process he began in 2020 The Saturday Night Live alum admitted on The Breakfast Club Power 105.1 radio show that his "tattoos sucked," which is why he's decided to get rid of them Davidson had upwards of 200 tattoos on his body that he got within a span of two years in his early 20s Pete Davidson isn't getting rid of all his ink. The Saturday Night Live alum, 31, is in the process of removing upwards of 200 tattoos that he had inked all over his body, however, he recently opened up about one in particular that he confirmed he's keeping. Davidson shared on The Breakfast Club Power 105.1 that his "feelings changed" about the large amount of tattoos he got done "in a span of two years" in his early 20s, admitting that he's not a fan of them now like he used to be when he was younger. "My tattoos sucked. They were all drug-fueled," he told the hosts of the radio show on Wednesday, Aug. 13, explaining that his time in rehab ultimately gave him second thoughts about his prior ink decisions. "I just looked at myself in rehab for the first time when I was sober and was just like, 'Oh no. What did I do'?" recalled Davidson, who's currently expecting his first baby with his girlfriend, Elsie Hewitt, 29. Don't get the comedian wrong, though! He said on the radio show that he "thinks tattoos are cool," however, tattoos that have "meaning" to them. He admitted his did not necessarily have any particular significance when he got them done at the time. "Mine just weren't," the Bupkis actor said of his tattoos' lack of meaning. "So I just started burning them off. Burning them off sucks," he added of the lengthy and painful removal process. There is one tattoo, specifically, that Davidson excitedly spoke about keeping on his body: Hillary Clinton. "Hillary's staying, I love Hillary. I got Hilary after she lost," he told the radio hosts of the 2016 presidential candidate whom he got inked on his right leg in December 2017. "One, I know her personally and she's a lovely lady," he said of Clinton. "But also ... she's tough, man. She was really at the forefront of some bulls--- and as someone who's been at the forefront of some bulls---, I just wanted to, like, cheer her up a little bit." When asked what Clinton said about Davidson's tattoo, the comic revealed that "she loves it," and even dialed him to inquire if her inspired ink would be a part of his removal process. "What was cute was when I got them removed, she hit me up and was like, 'You're not removing me are you'?" he recalled of the politician's concern. "I was like, 'Of course not!'," he recalled, making clear, "Hillary stays." Davidson then shared advice for those who are considering permanently inking themselves, suggesting that they put a good amount of thought into the decision prior to getting it done. "It sucks. If anyone is thinking of getting a tattoo, I would recommend thinking about it for a couple years, 'cause your feelings change." Davidson previously said he plans to only keep "two or three" of his tats. Earlier in the interview, the Staten Island native revealed that his "Wu-Tang" tattoo is staying when talking about the hip-hop group — which also hails from the New York City borough — he has inked on his shoulder above his Verrazzano Bridge tattoo. Of the Wu-Tang tattoo, the comedian previously told Complex, "They are Staten Island. That's what Staten Island is." He also added: "Mushrooms is a fun thing to do," when the interviewer complimented the tattoo. In January, a source told PEOPLE that the SNL star spent $200,000 to undergo the process of having his multiple inkings removed from his body. "He just woke up one day and wanted them gone, and it's been a years-long process," the source said of the procedure. A second source added that the tattoo removal is also marking a fresh start for Davidson, who "has been sober since September, and gained 20 pounds." "Things are going really well for him," the insider told PEOPLE at the time. "Things are heading in the right direction." Davidson started the long-term journey of removing his tattoos in 2020. Pete Davidson says his ‘BDE' reputation, sexualization in media took an emotional toll

It turns out the amount of objectifying Pete Davidson received from the tabloids took a toll on his 'BDE.' The 'Saturday Night Live' alumnus told 'The Breakfast Club' on Wednesday that he was 'embarrassed' by the way his personal life crowded out his work. 'I brought a lot of pop culture into [SNL], like, I made it sort of like tabloid-y, like trendy thing unintentionally. … No one talked about any work I was doing,' the 31-year-old father-to-be said. 'They were just like, 'Oh, that's the f— stick.' The 'Bupkis' star began his 'SNL' career in 2014, when he was only 20, then spent eight seasons on the late-night sketch comedy show. After leaving in 2022, he came back a year later to host the show. His dating life dominated the headlines during his time on 'SNL.' Davidson dated singer Ariana Grande, actor Kate Beckinsale, model Kaia Gerber, actor Madelyn Cline and reality TV star Kim Kardashian. The Grande and Kardashian periods attracted the most attention of course, with the singer hinting at Davidson's alleged 'BDE' and the reality mogul saying later that she was up for some of that amid her divorce from Ye — then known as Kanye West. The rapper, by the way, was not pleased with his ex's rebound entanglement. (BDE is short for 'big d— energy.') 'I don't want to victimize myself in any way because I'm cool, but the sexualization of me, if that was a girl, you know, [there would] be a march for it,' Davidson said. He said the attention his track record brought affected his dating life and made him 'sad.' In July, the 'King of Staten Island' star revealed that his current girlfriend, British model and actor Elsie Hewitt, is expecting their first child. She posted a series of pictures of the two of them on social media, including a shot of an ultrasound and video of her getting the scan done. Her caption: 'welp now everyone knows we had sex.'
