Rabat – A new heatwave alert expects temperatures to range from 39 and 48 degrees Celsius in several Moroccan provinces.
The General Directorate of Meteorology announced today that the new weather alert will hit several provinces from Friday to Tuesday.
Temperatures between 39 and 43 degrees will concern today the provinces of Fquih Ben Salah, Beni Mellal, El Kelaa Seraghna, Rehamna, Settat, Chichaoua, Marrakech, Youssoufia, Azilal, Al Haouz, Esaouira, and Izegane-Ait Melloul.
The same weather alert will concern Chtouka-Ait Baha, Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanane, Tiznit, Sidi Ifni, Laayoune, Tarfaya, Tan-Tan, and Guelmim.
During the weekend, temperatures are expected to reach between 44 and 48 degrees, affecting the provinces of Laayoune, Tarfaya, Tan-Tan, and Guelmim.
Meanwhile, temperatures between 42 and 46 degrees will hit the provinces of Fquih Ben Salah, Beni Mellal, El Kelaa Seraghna, Rehanma, Settat, Chichaoua, Marrakech, Youssoufia, Azilal, Al Haouz, Essaouira, Sidi Bennour, Safi, Inzegane-Ait Melloul, Chtouka-Ait Baha, Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tananem, Tiznit, and Sidi Ifni.
From Sunday to Tuesday, provinces of Ouezzane, Larache, Kenitra, Fez, Meknes, Moulay Yacoub, Taounate, Khemisset, Khouribga, Sidi Kcem, Sidi Slimane, Benslimane, Berrechid, and El Jadida expect temperatures ranging from 42 to 46 degrees.
Temperatures between 39 and 42 will be recorded in the provinces of Sale, Skhirate-Temara, Mediouna, Nouaceur, Khenifra, Sefrou, Taza, and El Hajeb.
Meanwhile, the provinces of Laayoune, Tarfaya, Tan-Tan, and Guelmim will experience temperatures ranging from 40 to 44 degrees on Monday.
The same weather alert forecast thunderstorms, hail, and wind producing 15 to 30 millimeters of rainfall in the provinces of Ifrane, Boulemane, Khenifra, and Midelt. This weather is expected to hit these regions from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m today.

Sudden downpours may drench areas like Azilal, Boulemane, Ouarzazate, Taroudant, Taourirt, Guercif, Taza, Khenifra, Al Haouz, Ifrane, and Tinghir, with rainfall totals ranging from 20 to 35 millimeters. Smaller accumulations, around 15 to 20 millimeters, are also likely in Tiznit, Midelt, Beni Mellal, and Tata. Residents in the affected regions are urged to remain alert as the heat builds and storms loom.
