Atif Aslam is going through a personal upheaval as his father, Muhammad Aslam, has passed away. Months after surviving a heart attack, Atif's father breathed his last at 77. The Pakistani singer took to his Instagram handle to share an emotional tribute to his father, along with an adorable picture of him kissing his father on the cheek.
'A final goodbye to my Iron Man. Rest in love, Abu g. Keep us in your prayers,' Atif wrote in the caption. While his Instagram handle can't be accessed in India currently, multiple screenshots of his post were spotted on social media. Several other Pakistani celebrities, from the film and music industries, also took to social media to condole the death of his father.
As per the Times of India, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif also prayed for the family's strength in the trying times ahead. Atif also requested his fans to keep his father in their prayers. The final rites of Atif's father will take place in Valencia Town in Lahore following Asr prayers.
Atif was born to Muhammad Aslam and Rehana Shaheen in Wazirabad, Punjab in 1983. He also has three brothers — Shahzad Aslam, Shahbaz Aslam, and Shiraaz Aslam — who have collaborated with him professionally too, as his photographer, designer-manager, and website coordinator respectively.
Atif started his music career as a member of the Pakistani band Jal. They sang the iconic track 'Aadat', which was later used in Mohit Suri's 2005 romantic thriller Kalyug. After separating from Jal, Atif released his own album 'Jal Pari' in 2004, which turned out to be a hit. It was followed by more popular albums like 'Doorie 'and 'Meri Kahani' in 2006 and 2008 respectively.
Atif made his debut in Hindi cinema with the popular track 'Woh Lamhe Woh Baatein' from Suri's 2005 directorial debut Zeher. He reprised Aadat as 'Aadat – Juda Hoke Bhi' in Kalyug the same year. Atif then gained more popularity in India with memorable tracks like the title track of Onir's Bas Ek Pal (2006), 'Pehli Nazar Mein' from Abbas-Mustan's 2008 hit crime thriller Race, 'Bakhuda Tumhi Ho' from Kismat Konnection (2008), 'Tu Jaane Na' and 'Tera Hone Laga Hoon' from Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani (2009), 'Main Rang Sharbaton Ka' from Phata Poster Nikhla Hero (2013), 'Jeena Jeena' from Badlapur (2015), 'Tere Sang Yaara' from Rustom (2016), 'Hoor' from Hindi Medium (2017), 'Dil Diya Gallan' from Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), and 'O Meri Laila' from Laila Majnu (2018).

Atif's music career in India took a hit after the Pulwama Attack in 2016, which led to a temporary ban on Pakistani artists. As his songs began to make his way back into Indian cinema a few years later, another ban has now been imposed after the Pahalgam terror attack earlier this year. Even the Instagram handles of Atif and other Pakistani artists can't be accessed in India anymore.

Mohanlal's ‘Hridayapoorvam' drops soulful ‘Venmathi'; Onam release hype peaks

(Picture Courtesy: Facebook) Malayalam superstar Mohanlal's upcoming family drama 'Hridayapoorvam', directed by veteran filmmaker Sathyan Anthikad, is fast becoming one of the most anticipated films of the year. Now the makers have released the lyrical video of the film's melodious track 'Venmathi', exuding Onam vibes. The soothing composition which is set to tune by Justin Prabhakaran, has been soulfully rendered by Sid Sriram. Lyricist Manu Manjith's heartfelt words, accompanied by simple yet beautiful visuals, make the song a treat for both the ears and the eyes. Adding to its uniqueness is an a capella portion sung by Shibi Srinivasan, with backing vocals from Feji, Indu Sanath, Devu Mathew, and Gayathry Rajiv. Onam festivities get a cinematic touch The timing of Venmathi's release could not be more perfect. The film is set for an Onam 2025 release, with the lyrical track dropping just days ahead of the festivities. Mohanlal himself shared the song on his social media handles, writing, '#Hridayapoorvam lyrical video #Venmathi out now!' The film's production house too shared the song with the caption, 'Good things take time… and this one's straight from the heart.' Venmathi Lyrical Video - Hridayapoorvam | Mohanlal | Sathyan Anthikad |Sid Sriram|Justin Prabhakaran Netizens react - 'Heavenly' Fans have already begun hailing the track as an 'Onam gift,' adding to the celebratory mood that accompanies Mohanlal's films during festival seasons. One comment read, "Hoping Lalettan to score a hattrick blockbuster with Hridayapoorvam." Another comment read, "Wat a freshness !!!!.." A third one commented, "Justin Prabhakar is so under utilized by Tamil Industry. Glad that he is making a mark in Malayalam. Kunjiramayanam, Pachu and now Hridayapoorvam. " Comedy, heart, and Sathyan Anthikad's magic Beyond its music, 'Hridayapoorvam' has already raised expectations thanks to a teaser released earlier. The teaser was filled with situational humor and shows Mohanlal in a lighthearted exchange with a non-Malayali fan of Fahadh Faasil. The teaser perfectly blends humor with cultural quirks in a way that only Sathyan Anthikad can. With a stellar supporting cast that includes Malavika Mohanan, Sangeeth Prathap, Siddique, Sangita, Lalu Alex, and Baburaj, the film will release on August 28.
