Iconic London institution Mr Chow has officially opened in Dubai
Known for its refined Chinese cuisine, striking interiors, and a jet set crowd that includes the likes of Bella Hadid, Jay-Z, Martha Stewart, and Snoop Dogg, Mr Chow has built a cult following since first launching in Knightsbridge, London in 1968. The brainchild of restaurateur Michael Chow, it blends traditional Beijing recipes with modern flair and theatrical presentation.
The Dubai outpost is the brand's eighth location worldwide and its second in the Middle East, following a successful opening in Riyadh's buzzing King Abdullah Financial District last year. Housed in the former Indochine space, the new venue brings the same blend of culinary excellence and glamorous energy to the heart of Dubai's financial district. Anticipation & excitement
First teased in November 2023, Mr Chow's Dubai debut has been met with buzz and high expectations from foodies, creatives, and luxury lovers across the city. With its doors now open, it's set to become the city's go to spot whenever that Chinese food craving hits. What to expect
The art of dining, reimagined: at Mr Chow, dinner is a performance. Think daily hand-pulled noodle shows, a Champagne trolley that makes its rounds, and service that feels equal parts elegant and playful.
Signature showstoppers: Dishes are made for sharing, with crowd pleasers like the world renowned Beijing duck, velvety Chicken Satay, Mr Chow noodles, and Ma Mignon all paying homage to classic Beijing cuisine with a luxe, modern twist.

Bella Hadid wears dress by Dubai-based Palestinian designer Reema Al Banna's brand Reemami
Palestinian-American model Bella Hadid has once again used her platform to spotlight Palestinian culture, this time for the launch of her latest fragrance, Eternal Roots. For the social media post accompanying her announcement, Hadid wore the Maqlouba dress, a floor-length, halter-neck piece by Reemami, the label of Sharjah-born Palestinian designer Reema Al Banna. The design is covered in hand-drawn sketches – from tatreez embroidery emblems to a horse and cart and a tin of olive oil – reflecting everyday Palestinian heritage. Hadid praised Al Banna as a 'brilliant, beautiful, hard-working, talented young Palestinian artist and designer'. Explaining the name of her new scent, Hadid wrote that Eternal Roots 'represents more than trees,' symbolising the anchors that 'hold us steady through storms' and reminding us 'who we are when the ground feels unsteady'. The social media post also included the song Olive Branch by Palestinian musical artist Elyanna. Since the start of the Israel-Gaza war, Hadid has been a prominent voice for Palestinian rights, marking occasions such as the Nakba and declaring that 'Palestine belongs to the Palestinians'. Fashion has been one of her most visible forms of activism. At the 77th Cannes Film Festival, she wore a vintage red-and-white keffiyeh dress by New York label Michael and Hushi, in another nod to her heritage. Eternal Roots is the fifth release from Hadid's fragrance brand Orebella, which she launched in early 2024. It follows Window2Soul, Salted Muse, Blooming Fire, and Nightcap, each scent reflecting a deeply personal narrative. Reemami, founded in Dubai in 2009, is known for its distinctive hand-drawn illustrations that often carry cultural storytelling. Responding to Hadid's post, Al Banna wrote: 'Thank you from the bottom of my heart for carrying my art in the most beautiful and powerful way. This dress is a piece of me – my identity, my roots, my Gaza, my Palestine – our Palestine – and seeing you wear it fills me with so much pride.' Reemami's latest collection was inspired by what the brand describes as 'the vibrant heritage and beautiful memories of our founder Reema's visits to Gaza,' capturing 'what makes her Palestinian in every sense'. The designs merge heritage elements with contemporary silhouettes, bridging cultural memory and modern fashion. In partnership with Dubai Cares, a global philanthropic organisation advocating for children's rights, Reemami is pledging a portion of sales towards essential supplies for Gaza. Every purchase over Dh1,000 will generate a Dh100 donation, while purchases under Dh1,000 will contribute 10 per cent of the sale price. Since October 7, 2023, Hadid has often protested for the rights of Palestinians to be heard.

New Japanese restaurant, KIGO, to open in DIFC, Dubai next month
There's a gorgeous new restaurant coming to the fancy-restaurant-capital of Dubai, DIFC and it's by the group behind GAIA, Shanghai ME, Maison de la Plage and more huge success stories in Dubai. Fundamental Hospitality is bringing KIGO to the Four Seasons Hotel Dubai International Financial Centre and the restaurant offers counter style dining built around omakase, a Japanese phrase meaning 'I'll leave it up to you', where guests entrust the chef to craft a bespoke, multi-course journey that evolves with the seasons. The new restaurant is set to open in Dubai in September. The experience begins before you step into the restaurant, on the terrace, where guests cross a stone path and a minimalist dry garden as they make their way into the 44-seat dining room. In the centre, you'll find a striking sushi counter crafted from rare Aji stone sourced from a single mountain in Japan's Kagawa area, known for its 40,000-year history and enduring strength. Find artwork by Eiki Kimura, drawing on the Rimpa-style. The whole restaurant oozes creativity and authenticity to the Japanese culture. The name KIGO originates from Japanese haiku poetry, encompassing words or phrases that capture the essence of each season, and the restaurant is also doing just that with its concept. KIGO's menu is as carefully created as the decor, ingredients are selected for their cultural resonance and only when they reach their fullest flavour. When you visit KIGO, as you sit at the stone counter, you can witness each dish come to life before your eyes as the chef crafts a personalised omakase in real time or if you prefer, opt for the set kaiseki menu that represents the luxury culture of Japan. For drinks, you'll find rare sakes exclusive to the region, including one produced by a brewery from the birthplace of Head Chef Akinori Tanigawa. You can expect premium cocktails too, each served with a poetic micro story. Chef Izu is loved by the Sheikh Hamdan, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, and he regularly visits his restaurants. If it's good enough for Sheikh Hamdan, it's good enough for us.
