Ryan Garcia is returning from a one-year suspension with plenty at stake.
He'll fight Rolando 'Rolly'' Romero Friday with a chance to help secure a rematch with Devin Haney in the fall. A common opponent may help understand Garcia's chances against Romero in a 147-pound welterweight bout.
Gervonta 'Tank'' Davis has stopped both men in the ring, and he says Romero hits harder.
'Well, shoot, (Romero) could hit harder,'' Garcia told USA TODAY Sports. 'But he got to hit me, and at end of day I hit hard, too.''
Garcia knocked down Haney three times April 20, 2024 and won the fight by majority decision. But that result became a no-contest after Garcia failed a post-fight drug test that resulted in a one-year suspension.
Will Garcia return to the ring with the same power? Will Romero be able to tap into his own power and avoid Garcia's lethal left hook?
USA TODAY will provide the latest updates, highlights and live coverage of all the action from the fight card. Follow along.

Sports Illustrated: Ryan Garcia
Apratim Banderjee writes: "Ryan Garcia can put his opponents out as he has shown time and again during his career. Apart from the power, Garcia's speed is phenomenal. Meanwhile, Rolly Romero has nuke-like power and like Garcia, he can put anyone to sleep with a shot. That said, he might not be as technically gifted as Garcia. Romero's chin, however, is questionable. His ability to take shots can be questioned and Romero has been brutally knocked out before. KingRy' has a solid chin and can take what comes in his way. He can also serve it out good. Garcia might be able to take Romero's offerings before landing his own finishing shots midway through the fight."
Predict Em: Ryan Garcia
Loot Levinson writes: "I'm betting that the Ryan Garcia vs. Rolly Romero fight goes under 6.5 completed rounds at -115 betting odds. You have two fighters with big firepower whose defensive abilities lag far behind their offensive prowess. Combine that with the urgency of Garcia and the style of Romero, and it seems a lot would need to go wrong for this to be a fight that goes into the latter rounds."
Ryan Garcia has a record of 24-1, with 20 KOs. His most recent bout vs. Devin Haney on April 20, 2024 was ruled a no contest after Garcia failed a post-fight drug test that resulted in a one-year suspension.
Rolly Romero comes into the bout with a a record of 16-2, with 13 KOs.

At YouTube Brandcast, Lady Gaga, ‘Hot Ones' & NFL Help Video Giant Mark 20 Creator-Shaped Years

At YouTube Brandcast on Wednesday night, the finale of a three-day blitz of upfront presentations in New York, Lady Gaga achieved the rarest of things: a standing ovation and screams of enthusiasm from a crowd of advertisers. The pop star's scorching 20-minute set closed things on a high note and received the opposite of the usually jaded reactions, but the event had already been a substantive one before she stepped onstage. The 20th anniversary of YouTube earlier this year served as the framework for the presentation, with appearances and remarks reflecting the milestone. 'We want to bring more of these moments to fans everywhere,' Mohan said. One example in September will be an NFL game in Brazil, streamed on YouTube in full for the first time. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell took the stage at the Lincoln Center presentation and joined Chief Business Officer Mary Ellen Coe to mark the step-up in the relationship between the league and the video giant. Keyshawn Davis Vs. Edwin De Los Santos Fight Card Ring Walk Times

Saturday's boxing card at Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia, is an important one for the lightweight division. In the main event, Keyshawn Davis returns to his hometown to put his unbeaten record and WBO lightweight belt on the line against Edwin De Los Santos. Meanwhile, in the evening's co-main event, the NABO and NABF lightweight titles are on the line when Abdullah Mason meets Jeremia Nakathila. We look at the ring walk times for the headlining fights on the Davis vs. De Los Santos boxing card. Keyshawn Davis vs. Edwin De Los Santos - 12 Rounds - WBO lightweight title Abdullah Mason vs. Jeremia Nakathila - 10 Rounds, NABO & NABF Lightweight Championships Kelvin Davis vs. Nahir Albright - 10 Rounds, Junior Welterweight Tiger Johnson vs. Janelson Bocachica - 10 Rounds, Welterweight Troy Isley vs. Etoundi Michel William - 10 Rounds, Middleweight Keon Davis vs. Michael Velez-Garcia - Six Rounds, Welterweight Euri Cedeno vs. Abel Mina - 10 Rounds, Middleweight Deric Davis vs. Naheem Parker - Six Rounds, Lightweight Patrick O'Connor vs. Marcus Smith - Four Rounds - Cruiserweight Davis and De Los Santos are expected to make their ring walks at approximately 10 p.m. ET Mason and Nakathila are expected to make their ring walks shortly after the ESPN broadcast begins at 9 p.m. ET. The 26-year-old Davis is widely regarded as one of the bright, young stars in boxing. After winning a silver medal at the 2020 Olympics, Davis had his first pro fight in February 2021, picking up a second-round TKO win. He won his first title in his seventh outing, picking up the WBO Inter-Continental lightweight belt with a unanimous decision win over Juan Carlos Burgos in 2022. A little more than two years later, after picking up five more wins (and a no contest for a failed drug test for marijuana), he stepped into the ring against the unbeaten Denys Berinchyk for the WBO lightweight title that Berinchyk had won in May 2024. Davis dominated Berinchyk during their meeting at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City. In the third round of that contest, Davis scored a knockdown via a left to the body. Berinchyk, bleeding from the nose, got back to his feet for an eight-count after that blow. However, in the fourth round, Berinchyk was unable to regain his feet after another powerful left to the body, giving Davis the title. The 25-year-old De Los Santos opened his pro career with 13 straight wins and 12 knockouts. His unbeaten run came to a halt in January 2022 when William Foster III beat him via split decision. De Los Santos bounced back from that setback with three wins (two via knockout). In November 2023, De Los Santos got a chance to fight for a title when he faced Shakur Stevenson for the vacant WBC lightweight crown. Stevenson won that contest via unanimous decision, beating De Los Santos by scores of 116-112 x 2 and 115-113. De Los Santos struggled to land in that contest, connecting on just 13 percent of the punches he threw. ESPN has Davis ranked as the No. 3 lightweight behind Stevenson (No. 2) and Gervonta 'Tank' Davis. De Los Santos is the No. 14 ranked fighter according to the WBO. The NABO and NABF lightweight title fight between Abdullah Mason (18-0 with 16 KOs) and Jeremia Nakathila (26-4 with 21 KOs) will air with the main event on ESPN on Saturday night in Norfolk. Mason enters Saturday's event as the No. 2 ranked lightweight in the WBO. The WBC has him at No. 4, while the IBF has him slated in as the No. 15 fighter at 135 pounds. The 21-year-old. who turned pro in 2021 is coming into his matchup opposite Nakathila on the strength of eight straight knockout wins. His most recent victory came in April when he stopped Carlos Ornelas in the sixth-round. The win came on Mason's 21st birthday. Nakathila is ranked by the WBO at No. 11. The 35-year-old is on a three-fight winning streak. His most recent win came in November 2024 when he defeated Tafadzwa Mushando via first-round knockout. Nakathila made his US debut in 2021 when he faced Shakur Stevenson in the main event of a Top Rank card in Las Vegas. Stevenson handed Nakathila his first professional loss in that matchup, beating him via 12-round decision. The betting odds of this matchup favor Mason. 'Ready for war': Aussie Opetaia alert to Italian ambush

Like the 27 challengers who have come before him, Jai Opetaia is swatting away Claudio Squeo's threat to derail the Australian boxing superstar's undisputed world title dream. Opetaia (27-0, 21KOs) will place his IBF and The Ring cruiserweight belts on the line against the unbeaten Squeo (17-0, 9KOs) on Sunday. Despite entering the bout as a 15-1 underdog, the Italian is promising to prove the doubters wrong and pull off one of boxing's great boilovers at the Gold Coast Exhibition Centre. "This is a big opportunity to shock the world, the people writing you off," Squeo said through a translator on Friday. First face off done. War ready. 😤 This Sunday on @DAZNBoxing — Jai Opetaia (@jaiopetaia1) June 4, 2025 But with a multi-million-dollar pay day and a place in Australian boxing immortality also at stake, Opetaia is having none of it. With much bigger fish to fry, the 29-year-old is vowing to win whatever way is required, knowing a loss is non negotiable ahead of a succession of potential super fights that could propel him to Hall of Fame status. "I believe I can beat him in the pocket, I believe I can outbox him. We are just going to fight smart," Opetai said. "We've got to choose our battles and just wait til Sunday." The fight comes almost three years after a then-unfancied Opetaia defied two jaw fractures to beat champion Mairis Briedis and claim his two straps. Opetaia has fought five times since, with the Briedis rematch last year his only genuine challenge, and is yet to land a shot at the other three belts in his division. Badou Jack owns the WBC belt but it is WBO and WBA champion Gilberto Ramirez who is firmly in Opetaia's sights. The Mexican two-weight champion is due for a mandatory defence later this month and insistent he will face Opetaia next. Should both win, as most predict they will, Opetaia will be in line to finally secure a unification blockbuster against Ramirez later this year. An Opetaia-Ramirez mega-money four-belt stoush would sit nicely on the undercard to September's historic duel between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford in Las Vegas. Little wonder why Opetai's priority is to see off Squeo however he needs to, saying he's even ready to slug it out for 12 full rounds if that's what it takes. "Once that bell goes every time, man, it's on and I'm ready for 12 rounds of war," he said. "I've got no doubt he's going to come forward. That's got to be his game plan. "We've just got to be patient. We just stick to our game plan, do what we do and we put on clinics. "So on Sunday, I love to put on a clinic. We always do the goods, we always put on good performances. "We are some hard-noses. We've been in the trenches the last couple of weeks. I'm riding in the wave. You know how I train to stop people."
