Gorakhpur: The Gorakhpur link expressway has been equipped not only to facilitate seamless travel, but also to ensure safety and swift assistance in emergencies. Passengers can avail immediate help by simply dialling the control room helpline number 14449.
Upon calling, GPS-enabled vehicles or ambulances operated by UPEIDA will be dispatched promptly to the location, officials said.
To enhance safety and support, a fleet of 15 security vehicles will operate round the clock on the expressway. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath will flag off this fleet during the inauguration ceremony at the Bhagwanpur toll plaza on Friday. The expressway has been divided into two packages of around 45 km each.
For each package, UPEIDA has deployed two patrolling vehicles, two patrolling campers equipped with safety tools (provided by the construction agencies), two ambulances for immediate medical aid, one crane for removing damaged vehicles and one hydra vehicle for the entire stretch.
This setup ensures continuous 24x7 support along the entire expressway.
Retired IG and UPEIDA's nodal security officer, Rajesh Pandey said that until the automated traffic management system (ATMS) is installed on the expressway, the integrated control room of the Purvanchal expressway will temporarily handle alerts.

Any incident reported to the helpline number will be relayed to the nearest patrolling vehicle, ambulance, or crane via this control room.
The GPS-enabled fleet ensures that the control room can trace and dispatch the nearest available vehicle swiftly, minimising response time in case of emergencies.
In the near future, ATMS will be implemented on the Gorakhpur link expressway. This system will include CCTV cameras installed at regular intervals, monitored centrally. It will also feature speed detection cameras, number plate recognition (NPR) systems and alerts for speed limit violations, further strengthening safety and surveillance on the expressway, officials said.

GST revamp! Over 40 company stocks set to gain from rate cuts, say experts– check full list of potential beneficiaries

Representative image Prime Minister Narendra Modi 's Independence Day announcement regarding India's GST restructuring by Diwali has significantly impacted Dalal Street, with over 40 stocks across various sectors identified as potential beneficiaries. As the stock markets marked the opening for the week on Monday, it witnessed substantial gains across automotive, financial, real estate, consumer and cement sectors as investors responded to what analysts consider the most significant indirect tax reform since 2017. The proposed GST reforms aim to simplify the current four-tier structure into two primary rates - 5% and 18%, excluding sin goods. According to market projections, 99% of goods in the 12% category will shift to 5%, whilst 90% of items in the 28% bracket will move to 18%. "Here too, households can expect sizable savings, owing to some higher-ticket consumption items bracketed in the 28% tier. The proposals and finer details are likely to be approved by the GST Council in early 3QFY26. The Finance Ministry has indicated Rs 50,000 crore of tax revenue impact, which appears manageable," Motilal Oswal said in a research note, a squoted by ET. The restructuring aims to reduce retail prices by 4-5%, providing relief to households whilst encouraging consumption across categories. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like This Could Be the Best Time to Trade Gold in 5 Years IC Markets Learn More Undo The automotive sector stands to gain significantly, with Jefferies identifying two-wheelers, small cars and commercial vehicles as primary beneficiaries from the proposed 28% to 18% rate reduction. "All the listed 2W OEMs – Bajaj, Hero, TVS and Eicher – should be beneficiaries of this cut," Jefferies noted. In the cement sector, the proposed rate reduction from 28% to 18% could result in a government revenue impact of Rs 200-250 billion. "A key sentiment positive for the sector; lower GST from 28% to 18% can lead to 7.5%/8% lower prices," Motilal Oswal stated. Consumer durables, particularly air conditioners, could benefit from rate reductions. Meanwhile, banking sector advantages include increased consumption and credit demand, with ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank and IDFC First Bank positioned as key beneficiaries. Emkay Global anticipated these reforms will strengthen consumption over capital expenditure, potentially reducing CPI inflation by 50-60 basis points annually. However, they caution that the overall impact depends on how the government addresses the revenue deficit. GST cut on cars, bikes likely soon: Expected percentage and who gains most

Car and bike buyers may soon have a reason to cheer this festive season, as the government is working on a plan to slash the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on automobiles. The move is aimed at making passenger vehicles and two-wheelers more affordable for the masses. The Finance Ministry has already forwarded its proposal to the GST Council, suggesting a simplified two-slab structure of 5% and 18% across all goods, replacing the current four-tier system, IANS reported. GST reduction for cars, bikes: Who benefits and how At present, passenger vehicles attract 28% GST, and on top of that, a compensation cess ranging from 1% to 22% depending on engine size, length, and body type. This means the overall tax outgo on cars can go up to nearly 50%. Electric cars, however, enjoy a much lower 5% GST rate with no cess. Two-wheelers also fall under the 28% GST slab. While entry-level and mid-segment bikes up to 350cc do not carry any cess, larger bikes with engines above 350cc are charged an additional 3%. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Use an AI Writing Tool That Actually Understands Your Voice Grammarly Install Now Undo Volvo EX30 Review: Is the smallest Volvo worth buying? | TOI Auto If the proposed structure is cleared, the 28% slab would be replaced with 18%. This change is expected to give a big boost to mass-market segments such as hatchbacks, compact SUVs, commuter motorcycles, and scooters, which together make up the bulk of India's auto sales. For two-wheelers, which are still the most common mode of transport for daily commuters, an 18% GST rate would directly reduce costs. This is significant because motorcycles and scooters in the entry-level and commuter space form the largest chunk of sales in India.
