Speech contestants showcase eloquence
The month of May was rather busy for the Department of Languages at Port Shepstone Secondary, as learners from Grades 8-12 prepared for the annual language speech contests.
Learners competed in two categories – the prepared speech and the impromptu speech. These participants were well supported and eager for the rich experience, to develop and showcase their eloquence and speaking abilities.
The school thanks the adjudicators and the coordinators for their time and valued expertise.

Please note there has been no serious incident,' reassured a company spokesperson. 'A tea cup with excess mould coating likely caused a loud 'pop' sound when slag was tapped into it. While the sound was loud, it's a harmless reaction.' 'Given that there's currently a furnace reline in progress and many contractors on site, the shift supervisor evacuated the plant as a precaution to carry out inspections.' 'There is no cause for concern,' the company confirmed. Don't have the ZO app? Download it to your Android or Apple device here: HAVE YOUR SAY Like our Facebook page and follow us on Twitter. Learn about light pollution
Light pollution has been found to affect human circadian rhythms. The dark-sky movement encourages the use of full-cut-off fixtures that cast little or no light upward in public areas and generally to encourage communities to adopt lighting regulations. To learn more about this, the Bendigo Conservation Group encourages everyone not to miss a fascinating talk by Dominique Coetzee at Die Local on Sunday, June 15 at 14:00. She will talk about light pollution awareness and the dark sky initiative. It will be an enlightening talk about the detrimental effect of lights used at night on the nocturnal and diurnal animals in the surrounding area. Contact Dee on 071 8662129.
