Calvin Harris has revealed his heartbreak after his much-loved cockerel Smokey was savagely killed by his neighbours' dogs.
The superstar DJ, 41, took to Instagram on Tuesday to share the sad news, posting a photo of himself holding the bird before the incident took place.
Alongside the snap, Calvin - who was holding Smokey in the grounds of what appeared to be his Cotswolds home - wrote: 'Raised this lad from a chick to a majestic cockerel.
'Murdered by the idiot neighbours' grimey dogs.
'Absolutely gutted.'
The music star added at the top of the story, set to Smokey Robinson & The Miracles' track My Love For You, which read: 'RIP Smokey we love you,' with a sad face emoji.
Calvin's grief comes just a week after he and his wife, the broadcaster Vick Hope, 34, celebrated the arrival of their first child together.
British DJ Calvin announced the arrival of their son Micah on his Instagram page on Monday afternoon and praised his spouse as a 'superhero'.
BBC Radio 1 host Vick had a home water birth at their property in Ibiza, where she flew after beginning her maternity leave.
Calvin shared a candid photograph of his wife laying in the birthing pool and a tender shot of himself with Micah moments after the birth.
Alongside the series of photos, Calvin announced the birth and wrote: '20th of July our boy arrived. Micah is here! My wife is a superhero and I am in complete awe of her primal wisdom! Just so grateful. We love you so much Micah.'
He included a graphic photograph of Vick's placenta, which was later turned into pills by drying and grinding the organ into a powder that's then encapsulated.
This practice, called placentophagy, is believed by some to offer postpartum benefits.
Some people believe eating the placenta can prevent postpartum depression; ease bleeding after delivery; promote a healthy hormone balance in the body; improve mood, energy and milk supply; and provide important nutrients, such as iron. But there's no evidence that eating the placenta has health benefits.
The Feel So Close hitmaker splits his time between the UK and his 138-acre farm in Ibiza, where he grows vegetables and keeps animals.
Smokey was a treasured part of his rural life.
His Cotswolds retreat is no ordinary home ‑ he and his wife are nearing completion of a grand three‑storey mansion on a 10‑acre estate in the Gloucestershire countryside, replacing an old post‑war house with a honey‑coloured Cotswold‑stone build designed by celebrated Royal Family architect Ben Pentreath.
He originally purchased the property in 2019 for £3.6 million, and alongside demolishing the old structure, he also acquired two neighbouring homes, reportedly bringing his total investment in the area - including builds - to around £15 million.
The newly built home includes a swimming pool, tennis court, gym, hot‑yoga studio, glasshouses, staff quarters, a pond, and a wildlife observation pod - all nestled within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
