President Sisi orders acceleration of logistics projects
The ports are to be transformed into global-level, high-capacity hubs, integrated with the modern transportation network – comprising roads, highways and railways – providing the necessary components to position Egypt as a global center for trade and logistics.
During a meeting Sunday with prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Transport and Industry Kamel al-Wazir and General Advisor to the President for Financial Affairs Ahmed al-Shazly, President Sisi was briefed on progress of projects carried out under the Ministry of Transport and Industry, especially ventures related to the railway system, including Arish–Taba railway line and the completion of the Bir al-Abd–Arish railway project – expected to contribute to the development of the Sinai Peninsula and create a logistical corridor linking the Red Sea to the Mediterranean.
Presidential Spokesman Mohamed al-Shenawy said, the meeting also covered updates on the development of seaports, given their central role in the country's development programs.
In this context, the implementation progress of construction, development and upgrading of several ports was reviewed, including Ras Sedr, Gargoub, Abu Qir, the Grand Port of Alexandria, the new El-Max Port, the expansion of Ain Sokhna Port, the construction of Taba Port and development projects at Damietta Port.
The spokesman added that the meeting also took up progress achieved in the fourth metro line in Cairo and the high-speed electric train project. It further discussed efforts to develop industrial zones in Wadi al-Sirriya and al-Motahhara in Minya Governorate and northern Fayoum in Fayoum Governorate.
All efforts are part of broader initiatives to promote industrial development in Upper Egypt and create more job opportunities for citizens, mainly in labor-intensive industries including, textiles, ready-made garments and weaving, according to the spokesman. (MENA)

Taarek Refaat Egypt's Official Gazette has published Decree, signed by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, introducing amendments to the public sector minimum wage framework effective July 1, 2025. The calculation will exclude certain special allowances such as remote-area bonuses, risk allowances, or non-cash benefits, while regular bonuses and collective financial advantages will be averaged into the monthly wage for assessment. This incentive system aims to harmonize wage fairness across ministries and public entities while maintaining eligibility conditions aligned with the Civil Service Law and other relevant public finance legislation. The amendments were adopted following Cabinet approval and a comprehensive legal review, as referenced in the decree's legal preamble, which cites Egypt's Unified Public Finance Law and recent Law, which governs public sector bonuses and incentives. The Egyptian government has incrementally raised the minimum wage in recent years as inflationary pressures and currency fluctuations have affected purchasing power. The current adjustment follows multiple prior increases, with the most recent benchmark set in 2024 at EGP 10,000 for many categories. PM Highlights Egypt's Economic Progress, Commitment to Expat Engagement
Nada Mustafa Prime Minister (PM) Dr. Mostafa Madbouly stated that Egypt has faced significant economic challenges in recent years due to regional and international crises. Egypt's PM reviews efforts to support local pharmaceutical industry
Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on Sunday chaired a meeting to review efforts to support and develop the country's pharmaceutical industry, with the aim of boosting local manufacturing and attracting more foreign investment. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, the Minister of Finance, Ahmed Kouchouk, and the heads of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) and the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement (UPA). Madbouly affirmed the government's interest in providing all necessary support for the growth and localisation of this vital industry. He noted that Egypt has a long history in pharmaceuticals, with large industrial facilities, and possesses promising advantages for further progress, including a large domestic market and access to nearby regional markets. During the meeting, EDA Chairman Ali El-Ghamrawy presented a report on the state of the industry. He stated that the sector is nationally stable and has achieved significant jumps in local market sales in 2024 compared to 2023, with positive expectations for continued growth in 2025. El-Ghamrawy confirmed that there is a secure level of coverage for various therapeutic groups, including hormones, cardiovascular drugs, oncology products, and corticosteroids. He also assured that there is a safe strategic stock of pharmaceutical raw materials, sufficient for three to six months. The EDA chairman highlighted the growth of foreign companies in the Egyptian market, noting that their sales in 2024 saw a 43% increase compared to 2023. He attributed this progress to several measures taken by the EDA to attract international firms, including monitoring modern and innovative products, a reference-based registration process that reduces approval times from two years to as little as two months, a unified electronic registration system, and support for localisation projects. El-Ghamrawy also noted that the EDA provides about 979 essential regulatory services to support the pharmaceutical industry and has not increased the fees for these services in the past two years.
