Formerly spearheaded Tag Heuer and LVMH Moët Hennessy (LVMH) Watchmaking Division, Frédéric Arnault has been appointed GEO of Loro Piana.
French luxury conglomerate LVMH is currently undergoing shakeups and reshuffles in the top ranks since early this year, and has announced Frédéric Arnault – one out of the five sons of billionaire LVMH chairman Bernard Arnault – CEO of the Italian luxury label. The 29-year old Arnault will be succeeding Damien Bertrand, who will be moving to Louis Vuitton as deputy CEO. Under Bertrand's tenure, Loro Piana remained authentic to its core DNA while at the same time expanded the growth and development of its leather goods category.
Celebrating 100 years of history and heritage, the quiet luxury brand has remained on the radar for luxury enthusiasts over the last few years, both old and new, thanks to a well-executed strategy of collaborations, partnerships, and activations. Since its foundation, the Italian luxury fashion label has constantly focused and pursued offering sublime timeless beauty and authenticity to a discerning global clientele.
For Arnault, this will be the first-time to lead the fashion and leather goods division. Banking on his previous luxury experience, this exciting new chapter could potentially see stronger vision and journey to add to Loro Piana's brand legacy. – For more on luxury lifestyle, news, fashion and beauty follow Emirates Woman on Facebook and Instagram

Majority of British people support arms embargo on Israel

A majority of British people support a full arms embargo on Israel, according to a new poll commissioned by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign. The poll, conducted by Opinium Research between 30 May and 2 June, found that 57 percent of people think the UK should impose a full arms embargo, with only 13 percent opposed. The poll also found 53 percent of people think Israel should be expelled from the United Nations, while 50 percent said Israeli products in supermarkets should be boycotted. Fifty-four percent backed sanctioning far-right Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who has been a staunch supporter of Israel's total blockade of the Gaza Strip that has left over 93 percent of the population suffering from acute food insecurity. Increasing numbers of public figures in the UK are speaking out against Israel's war on Gaza, which has killed at least 54,607 Palestinians and wounded 125,341 since 7 October 2023. Support for Israel in Europe drops to record low, finds YouGov poll Read More » According to a survey by YouGov last month, fewer than a fifth of respondents in six countries held a favourable view of Israel. The poll was conducted between 12 and 26 May in Britain, France, Germany, Denmark, Spain and Italy. Middle East Eye revealed on Tuesday that the US has been pressuring the UK not to back a French proposal to recognise a Palestinian state. France is reportedly gearing up to unilaterally recognise Palestine at an upcoming UN conference. MEE understands that France has been lobbying Britain to do so as well. Prominent Israeli diplomat Alon Pinkas told MEE this week that Macron's push to recognise Palestinian statehood 'is serious and has the backing of most of the European Union and Saudi Arabia'. French officials believe the British government is on board with the plan, according to French media.

ALTÉRRA backs Absolute Energy to develop gigawatt-scale renewable energy capacity in Italy

ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD) ALTÉRRA, the UAE's $30 billion climate investment vehicle, has announced a €50 million commitment via the ALTÉRRA Acceleration Fund to Absolute Energy, a forward-thinking Italian renewable energy platform. The co-investment, made alongside global infrastructure investment manager I Squared Capital, aims to fast-track the development of an initial 1.4GW active pipeline of projects across Italy. Absolute Energy is focused on the swift deployment of multiple commercially viable small to medium-scale solar projects throughout the country. Through this initial phase — comprising 1.4GW of solar and battery storage capacity — and with a broader development pipeline exceeding 6GW, Absolute Energy is positioned to become a next-generation Independent Power Producer (IPP), advancing Italy's decarbonisation and energy independence objectives. ALTÉRRA estimates that the 1.4GW pipeline could eliminate up to 380,000 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO₂e) emissions annually. Italy has set a national target of adding 46GW of new solar capacity by 2030 in support of its net-zero ambitions. With high solar irradiation levels and favourable policy support, the country presents a compelling opportunity for expanding solar infrastructure. Majid Al Suwaidi, CEO of ALTÉRRA, said: 'We are excited to support Absolute Energy as it enters its next phase of growth. With a strong pipeline and deep sector expertise, the company will help drive Italy's clean energy future. ALTÉRRA invests to accelerate the climate transition through innovative approaches and partnerships. In working with a global leader like I Squared Capital with their strong track record in platform building and investing in renewables, this investment further demonstrates how ALTÉRRA works with partners to invest at scale to accelerate impact across key markets.' Sadek Wahba, Chairman and Managing Partner of I Squared Capital, added: 'We are proud to welcome ALTÉRRA as a strategic partner in Absolute Energy. Their investment underscores the strength of the platform and the scale of the opportunity in accelerating Italy's energy transition. ALTÉRRA brings deep climate focus and ambition, and we share their commitment to deploying capital with urgency and impact. This partnership is a powerful endorsement of Absolute Energy's innovative model and I Squared's long-standing approach to building transformational infrastructure businesses in critical sectors around the world.'
