'I'm horrified by my cousin's baby name choice - she needs to be stopped'
A woman has sought advice after her efforts to dissuade her cousin from choosing an 'atrocious' baby name were in vain. In a bid to convince her cousin to rethink the unconventional spelling of her soon-to-be-born daughter's name, she's turned to Reddit for help.
She shared her dilemma on the Tragedeigh forum, a space dedicated to discussing names that are "deliberately misspelled or completely made up to appear more unique than it actually is."
Her cousin is set on the name Phoebe but wants to add a 'unique' spin by spelling it Feabe.
She explained: "I've tried to convince her that people won't understand how to say it, and the traditional spelling looks a lot prettier, but she has her mind set.
"She says nobody will read it differently, and uses the names Lia and Lea as examples. I just don't think it's the same thing. But tell me, is it a tragedeigh like I think it is? Will the kid get bullied?", she asked.
With the baby's arrival imminent, the worried woman is frantically trying to persuade her cousin to stick with the original spelling, fearing the child's future could be affected. She added: "I'm struggling here on trying to find ways to convince her to change it. I texted her about the Phineas and Ferb reference the kid is going to get, and she just said that she loved the show as a kid.
"My cousin and I are super close, like sisters, so any suggestions? It also doesn't help that her middle name will be spelt Feiey, like Fae for Fairy. So Feabe Feiey."
One person replied to her post: "Wouldn't Fea be a feminine form of feo, Spanish for ugly? Even if not, any chance you can convince your cousin of that?".
Another chimed in with their take: "I would pronounce Feabe as Feeb. Maybe Fabe as a distant second guess."
A third cautioned: "Any elementary teacher will tell you that Phoebe spelled as Feabe is going to get teased as Flea be and when she's older? Even worse, Fee is for sale to the highest bidder. Kids are Cruel. Girls are crueler."
Someone else weighed in: "It is more than a tragedy. The poor kid will be called Feeble or Febreeze, and even well-intentioned people will say it incorrectly.
"It also entirely hides its Greek meaning of 'bright' or 'shining' (as in Phoebus Apollo), and it disconnects it from any of the characters in mythology, or the woman in the Bible, who have the name Phoebe."

Just beforehand, he revealed that he was dating lingerie model Yasmin Amelia - also known as Yasmin Bennett. His fans on Reddit claimed that he was taken, but noted that he has usually kept his cards close to his chest when it came to his personal life. One wrote on the forum platform: "Caught me off guard because he is a very private person especially about his dating/love life. "Even on the pod he has expressed his desire to keep things private and off socials. "Often relies on the 'can't talk to women'/catfish story to dodge specific relationship questions." However, the star has now broken his silence over the timing, saying that he wanted 'full control' of the narrative. Speaking on the Useless Hotline Podcast, he admitted: "That's part of the reason why we wanted to say something. "Because the two options were, say something. You have full control over how it comes out." However, the star rubbished the infamous 'Strictly Curse', as he claimed that it would not affect him. Strictly's George Clarke 'gives away' who his pro dance partner is George said: "Whatever you say is basically how people find out, or it stays private." He then explained that he didn't want there to be any rumours or anything that could ruin his relationship. The star added: "[it] just sort of takes all the control out of your hands. "But then, I [will] just go on stream after that and be like, that's not true, by the way. "But, yeah, she's my girlfriend." He also said that his girlfriend is still her own person and is getting used to being thrown into the public eye. This comes after he may have accidentally let slip who he's partnered with for this year's series. On the podcast he also spoke about the audition process where he revealed that he was partnered with Lauren Oakley. He also admitted that the duo rehearsed for a full hour together, as he explained: "I've not met anyone apart from, I believe her name's Lauren, who was the pro that I met. "Because when we had a interview for it, so it's like an hour long interview, and then like an hour long dance session." Lauren has appeared on the show since 2022, and so far has competed with two stars – Krishnan Guru-Murthy, who placed 8th, and JB Gill last year. She took over from fellow pro Amy Dowden mid-season after she was forced to withdraw due to injury. 7 George was the sixth star to be announced to be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing Credit: PA 7 The star explained that he would address any rumours that come out Credit: Instagram 7 Fans on Reddit noted that the star has always been private about his personal life Credit: Instagram

Emmerdale fans slam ITV soap's most insufferable couple
Characters come and go on the programme, but sometimes certain residents don't always appeal to loyal viewers. Many will be rooting for particular couples on the show, while others will be hoping their relationship comes to an end, as they 'don't like either of them'. It comes as someone posted a poll for some 'good fun' on Reddit, and asked fellow Emmerdale supporters: 'Just talking in terms of being the most annoying, unpleasant, intolerable... I could go on. 8 Most Iconic British Soap Characters of All Time 'At first, for me, it was Dawn & Joe but... Sarah & Jacob seem to be giving them a good run for the money. 'So, who do you think should walk away with the title, or do you have write-in candidates for the ballot?' Emmerdale fans debate ITV soap's 'most insufferable' couple The most popular response for the 'most insufferable' couple on the Yorkshire Dales-set programme was Dawn and Joe, with Sarah and Jacob coming second, and the rest of the votes for 'other'. This account explained: 'Now that's a hard choice. Joe/Dawn and Jacob/Sarah are both absolutely awful, terrible and I hope they end but I think Joe/Dawn edges out because they actively don't care about three kids plus they're both just bad people.' A viewer debated: 'Joe did things outside of that relationship BUT the way he treated Clemmie and the way Dawn covered it up by saying it was nothing was a hard and disturbing watch.' Discussing Sarah and Jacob, a profile also chimed in: 'I like Joe at least, so definitely Sarah and Jacob, as I don't like either of them or this stupid storyline.' This reply said: 'I agree, I'm not a huge fan of this Jacob and Sarah too. I like Joe Tate as he's so charming, but just wish he wasn't with Dawn.. poor Billy!' 'Dawn has better chemistry with Joe than Billy,' another put. Some commented John and Aaron, as well as Chas and Al, when discussing the on-screen couples that have bothered them the most throughout the soap's history. One person said: 'Chas and Liam. Zero chemistry, and just intolerably smug.' Another added: 'I have to agree with you on that very accurate description!' But someone argued: 'How could you not like Chas and Liam? I think they're a nice couple. Recommended reading: 'Although, to be fair, when was the last time they had a scene together?' Meanwhile, this user shared: 'Paddy and Mandy are worse than insufferable. So I guess they don't make the cut.' Which Emmerdale couple have you not taken to over the years? People are cancelling Netflix subscriptions for very unexpected reason
Netflix is one of the many streaming services that have a range of movies and shows - but now users are cancelling their subscriptions and opting for another source of content Film enthusiasts worldwide are ditching their Netflix subscriptions and reverting to a more traditional style of viewing. The unexpected reason for the cancellations is that budget-conscious viewers are seeking cheaper, and in some cases free, ways to watch their favourite films and shows. A move away from streaming platforms has been prompted by some people finding it hard to justify the cost of multiple services. Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, Apple TV+, and Amazon Prime are just a handful of the many streaming services available, all offering original content. However, fans are pushing back against the "limited" range of streaming options. Astonishingly, many have revealed they're returning to the era of DVD and Blu-Ray. One user on the r/Frugal Reddit page wrote: "How many of you are cancelling subscriptions and going back to DVDs? My mum in particular isn't tech friendly so has kept all DVDs and loves picking one to watch. "I still have my DVDs too but got caught out on subscriptions. I personally have decided to cancel all subscriptions for half a year so we can only have six months max of subscriptions. For example, I may have signed up to Stan for three months while watching a TV show I can't buy then cancel. "Then a few months later I did three months of Netflix to watch some documentaries and now cancelled and that's it for the year. Who else is moving back to DVDs? It's been amazing to not be stuck with decision fatigue and actually own things again. Next year we will only allow ourself three months total for the year for subscriptions." Movie lovers are discovering that the switch is much simpler than expected, claiming that borrowing DVDs from the library is a cost-free and straightforward way to access new films. One comment reads: "I just get free DVD rentals from my local library." Another added: "I don't know why I never thought of this. I'll have to check mine out, thank you!" A third individual has dubbed libraries as a "cheat code" for accessing top-notch films and telly programmes without depending on streaming services. They wrote: "Library's the cheat code: no fees, no contracts, and the shelves throw you into shows and movies you'd never pick from a scrolling app." Another user shared: "We have a bunch of DVDs but pretty much stopped watching them when we got streaming platforms. "Then as more and more streaming platforms came around and the options for available shows and films on each got smaller and smaller, we started watching some of our saved electronic films instead. "Most DVDs and blue ray discs come with an e-copy on the disc that we saved to our home server. Some of our older DVDs don't have the electronic version so we hooked up one of the gaming systems to our TV and watched a film last weekend. "We will probably do this more often as the selection on the streaming platforms get smaller." A third person pointed out that DVDs were anywhere between 25p and 50p in charity shops, meaning you could genuinely save cash if you fancy reducing your subscription costs.
