KIN cast to share secrets at Fastnet Film Festival
KIN Uncovered takes place on Saturday, 24 May at 5pm, as part of the festival's packed programme running from 21 to 25 May. The panel discussion will be moderated by award-winning director Paddy Breathnach.
Joining him are Aidan Gillen (Frank Kinsella), Maria Doyle Kennedy (Birdie Kinsella), Clare Dunne (Amanda Kinsella), and co-creator and writer Peter McKenna.
Together, they'll explore the making of KIN, discussing its gripping storytelling, complex characters, and how the series became a standout in Irish television.
McKenna, a five-time IFTA winner, is also known for Hidden Assets, Red Rock, and Gangs of London series 3. Breathnach, whose directing credits include VIVA and Rosie, has recently worked on Netflix's Bodkin and The Dry.

The trailer for the award-winning Irish film A Want in Her has been released ahead of the documentary's arrival in cinemas in October. The synopsis says: "When her mother goes missing somewhere in Ireland, artist Myrid Carten returns from London to find her. "Her search takes her into a feuding family, a contested house, and a history that threatens to take everyone down, including herself. "Intimate, surprising, and often darkly funny conversations with her mother and other family members reveal the trials of loving someone who struggles with addiction and madness. " A Want in He r is an immersive, first-person account of the cost of love and how difficult it can be to escape. "It asks the universal question: how can we be with those we love without losing ourselves?" Speaking about her film's release, director Myrid Carten said: " A Want in Her is a film for the big screen, and I'm delighted it will be in cinemas across Ireland and the UK in October. "Some of the best moments of the festival run have been seeing it connect with audiences and getting messages like 'what a feeling to be in a cinema where everyone is just entirely focused and immersed in what is happening on the screen'." Winner of the Audience Award and the Documentary Award at the Dublin International Film Festival (DIFF), A Want in Her is released in cinemas on Friday 10 October.

Dawn's son Callum Kerr, who played PC George Kiss in soap opera Hollyoaks and appeared in Netflix's Virgin River, today issued a plea for any friends of his mum not to attend her 'killer's funeral. The Scots actor had proudly walked his mother down the aisle during her marriage to Andrew in September 2023. 'Our mother was killed by multiple blows to the head, and Andrew was found deceased by hanging. 'His injuries are consistent with self-hanging, and no defensive wounds were found on his body. 'There is also no evidence whatsoever of any third party's involvement at this stage. Police also considered the possibility of a hitman linked to Andrew's anti-fraud work in the financial crime sector - or a botched burglary. Colin Farrell risks it all in Ballad of a Small Player
The trailer for the Colin Farrell-starring psychological thriller Ballad of a Small Player has been released ahead of the film's arrival in cinemas and on Netflix in October. Ballad of a Small Player will be released in Irish cinemas on Friday 17 October and on Netflix on Wednesday 29 October. The film teams Farrell with Edward Berger, the director of the Oscar-winning Conclave and All Quiet on the Western Front. "Lord Doyle (Colin Farrell) is laying low in Macau - spending his days and nights on the casino floors, drinking heavily and gambling what little money he has left," reads the synopsis. "Struggling to keep up with his fast-rising debts, he is offered a lifeline by the mysterious Dao Ming (Fala Chen), a casino employee with secrets of her own. "However, in hot pursuit is Cynthia Blithe (Tilda Swinton) - a private investigator ready to confront Doyle with what he is running from. "As Doyle tries to climb to salvation, the confines of reality start to close in." Ballad of a Small Player is based on the Lawrence Osborne book The Ballad of a Small Player and is adapted for the screen by Rowan Joffe (Tin Star, 28 Weeks Later). The film will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in September.
