None from KCR family will be allowed into Cong till I am there: Revanth

Hyderabad: Chief minister A Wednesday said no member of BRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao's family will have an entry into as long as he was at the helm and termed them as 'enemies' of Telangana. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The CM was replying to queries in an informal chat with reporters in New Delhi, before returning to Hyderabad after his three-day trip, regarding speculations over BRS MLC K Kavitha following her letter to KCR recently and her subsequent statements. He dubbed her rebellion as a family drama to seek people's attention as BRS had become almost irrelevant in Telangana politics, drawing a parallel with the Telugu movie 'Assembly Rowdy'. The CM said despite Kavitha openly stating that 'devils' have gathered around KCR, the BRS chief was yet to respond to his daughter's accusations. "The entire KCR family is trying to ensure that political discussions revolve around them. But they are traitors of Telangana," Revanth alleged. When asked to comment on KCR's appearance before the PC Ghose commission probing Kaleshwaram project, the CM said: "Today, KCR gave his version of the Kaleshwaram project to the commission. In two days, I will come out with all the details of the project in front of the media. The people of Telangana should know the facts." He also slammed Union minister G Kishan Reddy, accusing him of creating hurdles in the development of Telangana. "Kishan Reddy is acting at the behest of KCR. Several infrastructure projects such as the Regional Ring Road have been delayed due to his interference. I ensured land acquisition for Cherlapally railway station," he said, explaining the state govt's proactive role. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now "Kishan Reddy has not brought a single key project to Telangana from the Centre. But, if he comes forward for development of the state, I am ready to hold a review meeting on projects with him. I want to ask Kishan Reddy whether he ever gave a report on Telangana projects or at least asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to grant a project to Telangana. Did Kishan Reddy ever mention Telangana issues in the Union Cabinet?" Revanth asked. Pointing out that Union minister Nirmala Sitharaman took Metro rail to Chennai and another Union minister took Metro rail project to Karnataka, he said that Kishan Reddy did nothing for Telangana. 'Naxalism reduced in Telangana due to Indira's land reforms' Responding to queries on Naxalism, Revanth Reddy said their ideology will exist in some form or the other as long as societal inequalities persist. After Indira Gandhi became PM, land reforms were brought in as a result of which Naxalism declined in Telangana. Indira brought the slogan of 'land belongs to tillers' and distributed land pattas to lakhs of SC and ST families, he said. The previous Congress govts also built houses for the homeless, he said.

5,500 Annapurna Bhawans to have fair price shops, common service centres

Lucknow: Around 5,500 upcoming 'Annapurna Bhawans' will be a blend of fair price shops and common service centres (CSC) provisioning essential govt and non-govt services to citizens in rural and urban centres of Uttar Pradesh. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The key feature will be the hallmark of these centres which would be constructed across all districts – the state govt plans to set up at least 75 Annapurna Bhawans in each district. The development comes a week after the cabinet gave its nod to step up the construction of Annapurna Bhawan by utilizing funds and sources other than Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGS). These centres may now be set up using MP/MLA Local Area Development Fund, tourism development fund, Bundelkhand Vikas Nidhi or any other govt-approved scheme. The feature comes as an add-on after the successful implementation of PM Gareeb Kalyan Anna Yojana, Centre's flagship scheme that was put in place at the peak of coronavirus pandemic. The state govt has already set up around 3,500 Annapurna Bhawans. "Another 2,000 are in the pipeline," food and civil supplies minister Satish Sharma told TOI. Currently, there are around 80,000 fair price shops in the state. Sharma said that selected shops would be shifted to Annapurna Bhawan free of cost. "The objective of the scheme is to improve the accessibility of fair price shops and ensure their transparent operation," he said. In a communique to all divisional commissioners, principal secretary, food and civil supplies, Ranveer Prasad said that each Annapurna Bhawan would be constructed over an area of around 484 sq feet. The shop will comprise two sections – one for the fair price shop, the other for CSC. These centres will also have a 96 sq ft verandah, which would serve as a waiting area. The district administration will choose the working agency – gram panchayat in rural and development authority in urban areas.

Centre approves MSP procurement for moong, groundnut in UP

Lucknow: The central govt has accepted the Uttar Pradesh govt's request to procure moong (green gram) and groundnut at the minimum support price (MSP). During a video conference on Wednesday with union minister of agriculture and farmers' welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan, UP agriculture minister Surya Pratap Shahi informed Chouhan that during the Zaid (summer crop) season of 2024–25, moong has been sown over 1.60 lakh hectares and groundnut over 1.74 lakh hectares in the state. He requested that these crops be procured at MSP—a request that was readily accepted by the union minister. For the Zaid 2024–25 season, the procurement target has been set at 34,720 metric tonnes for moong and 50,750 metric tonnes for groundnut. This decision is expected to benefit a large number of farmers in Uttar Pradesh. Chouhan also assured that, if needed, the procurement targets for moong and groundnut could be increased. Additionally, he stated that if a proposal is received for the procurement of urad (black gram), it will also be approved. Shahi expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and union minister for the decision taken in the interest of farmers. He also urged the Centre to procure maize—currently being cultivated on approximately 4.80 lakh hectares during the Zaid season—at MSP to further boost farmers' income.
