Can you hit big sixes? Harry Brook's sledge triggers Prasidh Krishna's instant dismissal
LEEDS, ENGLAND - JUNE 23: Prasidh Krishna of India bats as Wicket Keeper Jamie Smith of England looks on during day four of the 1st Rothesay Test Match between England and India at Headingley on June 23, 2025 in Leeds, England. (Photo by)
Prasidh Krishna
faced 11 balls in India's second innings. The task given to India's No. 11 by all-rounder
Ravindra Jadeja
was to negotiate the last two balls against the pacers, and he fulfilled it by surviving deliveries from Chris Woakes and Josh Tongue.
After a sudden collapse, Jadeja and Krishna forged a useful 15-run stand for the last wicket, which forced England captain Ben Stokes to bring back spinner Shoaib Bashir.
Jadeja took a single off the fourth ball, leaving Krishna with one job: block out the next two deliveries. On the last ball of Bashir's over, however, Krishna couldn't control his instincts and threw away his wicket. But you can't really blame him — he is, after all, a No.
11.

Before playing the rash shot, he was involved in a bit of banter with
Harry Brook
. The England batter asked him to hit a six, and Prasidh went for it on the very next ball — only to get out.
"Can you hit big sixes?" Brook asked Krishna.
Krishna replied, "If I had to, I would be called Brook."
But on the very next ball, Krishna went for glory, ending his 11-ball vigil.
IND vs ENG 1st Test: KL Rahul's grit, Rishabh Pant's fire keep India alive
On the final day of the match, Krishna will have a chance for redemption with the ball.
The lanky Karnataka pacer had a rough outing in the first innings, leaking 128 runs in 20 overs.
Krishna did take three wickets — including centurion Ollie Pope, local boy Harry Brook (who fell for 99), and Jamie Smith — but his erratic lengths made him expensive.
England need 350 runs on Day 5 to go 1-0 up in the five-match Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.

IND vs ENG, Leeds Weather Live Updates: Hover Cover Is Off
India vs England, Leeds Weather Today Live Updates: It cannot be better poised than Ben Stokes and Co. needing 350 runs to win with all 10 wickets in hand for the final day of the first Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. Although they ended Day 4 with a confidence-boosting spell of 21/0 from openers Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley, keeping Jasprit Bumrah out on a fifth-day wicket won't be easy. The pitch, according to KL Rahul, will behave like a 'subcontinent wicket' with dry and rough patches –which should work in India's favor by bringing Ravindra Jadeja into the picture, too. But the visitors' issues are prominent elsewhere — in uncertainty on how Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and Shardul Thakur will perform in conditions that don't directly aid their strengths. Both teams have dropped the gauntlet already — Rahul said that there 'definitely' will be a result today, while Josh Tongue said England aren't thinking about a draw — but we cannot discount the English weather. Rain hasn't affected the match much so far, but today, there's a real possibility of significant delays, which might force us into a shared result. Stay tuned as we bring you all the real-time updates!

Tilak Varma slams century on Hampshire debut; departs after scoring 100 in County Championship
Tilak Varma India batter Tilak Varma had a memorable County debut as the southpaw hammered a century on his Hampshire debut. The 22-year-old, who was unbeaten on 98 against Essex on the opening day, completed his sixth first-class century on the second day. However, the southpaw fell right after reaching his milestone, as former South Africa captain Dean Elgar caught him off Simon Harmer's bowling. Tilak Varma demonstrated that he is not just a big-hitting white-ball tyro, constructing a patient knock after coming to the crease while facing the hat-trick ball. Tilak has played four ODIs and 25 T20Is for India and has impressed for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL, but has played only 18 first-class matches. He will feature in four County Championship matches for Hampshire. "Test cricket is my favourite format," Tilak said on Hampshire Cricket's YouTube channel. "I was waiting for this opportunity. "I am ranked third in T20Is and everyone thinks that I am a T20 specialist. But for a long time, I've been saying that I am a good Test batter as well. I love to play close to the body and enjoy being challenged," he said. For real-time updates, scores, and highlights, follow our live coverage of the India vs England Test match here . IND vs ENG Test: 'Desh and nothing else' - Suniel Shetty opens up about his son-in-law KL Rahul's obsession with the game
India's KL Rahul bats on day four of the first cricket test match between England and India at Headingley in Leeds, England, Monday, June 23, 2025. (AP Photo/Scott Heppell) Suniel Shetty showered praise on his son-in-law and revealed his obsession with the game, as well as what it means to him to play for the country. The Test was interestingly poised on Monday, with India setting the hosts a tricky 371-run target for victory. Ben Stokes' side began the chase expertly on day four, with openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett erasing 21 runs from the total. Suniel Shetty said: "He says, 'Dad, I am playing for the country. So it doesn't matter what position I'm playing in. I want to play for the country.'" "And when you are obsessed with that, I don't think any position matters. Then it's about being mentally very, very strong. Emotionally clear. Desh and nothing else." 14:13 KL Rahul press conference: On his role, being elder brother in team, role clarity and match Rahul scored 137 while Pant smashed 118, as the duo stitched together a 195-run stand for the fourth wicket to bail India out on the fourth day of the Headingley Test. "Today was a tricky wicket. Tomorrow it might break even more. We'll give ourselves the best chance to pick up the 10 wickets," Rahul said during the post-stumps press conference. He, however, conceded that a score of around 400 would have placed India in a much stronger position. "At tea, there was a little bit of discussion on how much we need, or whether to give them (England) a few overs to bat and pick up a few wickets. Ideally, we would have wanted about 40 runs more," said Rahul. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like local network access control Esseps Learn More Undo India lost three lower-order batters for naught, while Karun Nair and Shardul Thakur too could only manage a handful of runs, as the visitors slumped from 333/5 to 364 all out. Rahul added that he was in awe of Pant's batting and was just admiring his audacious strokeplay standing at the other end. "You just stand there and admire and sometimes scratch your head about the shots that he plays. He has his unique style of play. He enjoys his game. He has a style that none of us will understand in this room. Just let him be Rishabh Pant," said Rahul of Pant, who, despite playing conservatively, managed 118 off just 140 balls.
