Australian influencers threaten to 'go on strike' and stop posting content as they start a union
Veronica B, known for her skits about Middle Eastern stereotypes, took to the stage at the AIIMS Creator Hub in Sydney on Wednesday night with her demands.
She said she 'doesn't know how the world would survive' without influencers, and moaned she was 'sick and tired' of being treated 'like a joke'.
'I'm sick and tired of us influencers being treated like we're a joke... We deserve more rights and we deserve to be taken seriously,' she said.
Veronica, who has 578,500 followers on TikTok, was cheered on by 100 other influencers as she said it was 'hard work' being an influencer.
From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop.
'As content creators and influencers, I don't know how this world would survive. How would people know where to eat if we didn't do restaurant reviews?' she continued.
'How would people know how to do their makeup if we didn't do Get Ready With Me videos? How would people know what to wear if we didn't do outfit hauls.
'I've decided to start an Australian Influencer Union.'
Other fellow content creators have voiced their support for Veronica online.
Dani Russell, who boasts 700,000 TikTok followers, uploaded a video questioning what was harder: being a mother or a creator.
Sydney-based creator Jasmin Mitwali claimed influencers work even harder than doctors and teachers.
'Honestly I do [work harder]. You literally have to stay relevant, come up with content all the time, film, do the work behind-the-scenes,' she said.
It comes after Veronica was slammed in December 2024 for saying it was 'hard work' being an influencer.
She found herself in hot water after an interview at the Sydney TikTok Awards went viral.
The comedian was asked about her line of work as she posed on the red carpet moments after arriving at the awards show in a Rolls Royce.
'I know it looks fun but it's hard work,' Veronica said of her influencing gig.
'You have to think of content, you have to edit it, you have to film it, you have to be constantly relevant and that is not easy.'
Veronica was quickly slammed for being 'out of touch' by viewers of the viral clip.
'I'm just coming home from a 13-hour shift, on my feet for 11 of those 13, but damn this must have been hard! Praying for you,' one woman wrote.
'I think the disconnect may be between a job being "hard" and "taking time". Even if it takes time to edit film etc, it's not necessarily "hard" work,' another wrote.
'Finished my 12-hour night shift and am about to start my next shift four hours later but this must have been so hard for you,' a third commented.

Lions star Bundee Aki reveals he missed arrival of his daughter during Australia tour after wife gave birth in a CAR
Aki admitted he played poorly in the defeat to Australia YOU'RE KIDDING Lions star Bundee Aki reveals he missed arrival of his daughter during Australia tour after wife gave birth in a CAR Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) BUNDEE AKI has revealed he became a dad again during the Lions' series win in Australia — with his wife giving birth in a car. The Irish centre held his hands up on his shocker in Sydney on Saturday in a 22-12 defeat, which saw the tourists miss the chance of a Wallaby whitewash. 3 Bundee Aki's wife has given birth to a daughter Credit: Instagram 3 Aki now has five children Credit: Instagram After the Lions failed to clinch a series clean sweep, Aki then announced he had become a father for the fifth time two weeks ago. The 35-year-old has yet to meet new daughter Aine, who was born in the build-up to the opening Test win in Brisbane. Wife Kayla was in New Zealand with family when she got in touch to say she was ready to give birth before he helped the Lions to a 27-19 triumph. Aki recalled: 'Credit to my wife. She's a powerful woman. I was in the hotel in Brisbane and I knew we were overdue. 'Ten minutes later, she video calls me and I was like, 'S**t, what's going on?' I saw a baby on the video call, so she had it in the car. 'They're both healthy. But their old man admitted he put in nothing close to an A-star performance in Sydney as the Lions were mauled in a monsoon. The game was suspended after half-time for 38 minutes due to lightning, with the Aussies 8-0 up through Dylan Pietsch's try and a penalty. Finn Russell was spotted in the dressing room flicking through his phone and Aki had his feet up on a bean bag before play resumed. But the Wallabies struck twice after the delay to get the victory. Aki had his worst game in an international shirt but fronted up. He said: 'I wasn't great. It was a poor game but you have those days and you have to live with it. 'We won the series and that's all we came for. 'Now, I want to enjoy my break. I haven't seen my family for eight weeks. I have a newborn child I haven't met yet.' Australia got it over the line thanks to a turbo-charged display from lock Will Skelton, who was on the wind-up all match, and second-half tries from Max Jorgensen and Tate McDermott. Jac Morgan and Will Stuart crossed to give the Lions some consolation — but Skelton had shown the Aussies the way. Wallabies scrum-half Nic White said: 'For once, someone stood up to them.'

Sydney split from her ex- fiance, producer Jonathan Davino, earlier this year. They had dated since 2018 and got engaged in 2022. However, she is now said to be casually dating in America. A source said: 'Her Instagram DMs are packed with messages from famous men trying to get in contact with her. 'It's mostly guys playing for teams like Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal. 'They offer her trips to Europe to see them and take her on a date, but she's not the kind of person who does that. 'Some of them are very insistent and have even tried to find her address to send her flowers, but she always refuses. 'I'd say more than 100 people, from celebs to millionaires or very rich people from the Middle East and Asia, contact her every month.' Pals are now joking to the White Lotus actress that she is 'the most wanted woman in America since Madonna'. While Sydney doesn't mind polite messages, the source said she is quick to call out those who misbehave. They added: 'The ones who cross the line of respect are quickly blocked. 'Not long ago, an American actor who had recently divorced approached her to take her on a date. 'She declined and he started being very rude, so she told him to stop talking to her and to show some respect to her and all women.' In May, Sydney said of her new single life: 'I'm learning a lot about myself, spending more time with my friends. And I'm loving it.' Sydney and Jonathan are said to have been 'rocky for some time' before calling it quits. 3 The source said Sydney is quick to call out those who misbehave Credit: Getty Her busy work schedule was reportedly partly to blame. Lions star Aki's baby born in car before first Test
In the aftermath of the British and Irish Lions' third Test against Australia in Sydney, a beaming Bundee Aki was riffing about all sorts of topics included the series win being the greatest achievement of his career, the special bonds forged between the players and how he would love to see Andy Farrell go again as Lions coach in he mentioned something extraordinary, almost in passing - his wife Kayla had given birth to their fifth child in a car on her way to the hospital before the first Test of the what he wanted to do now, the New Zealand-born Ireland centre replied: "I want to enjoy my break, my family time."I haven't seen my family for eight weeks. I have a newborn child who I haven't met yet."Pardon?"Yep, a girl. She was born when we were playing in Brisbane, so I haven't met her. Her name is Aine, so I'm looking forward to going and meeting her," he to my wife," he went much credit to Kayla, who has now given birth to the couple's fifth child. The first was born in hospital and the next three at home, while Aine entered the world in the back of a car en route to a hospital in New Zealand, where the rest of the Akis were visiting family, as Bundee and the Lions prepared for the first Test in remarkable scene happened mid-tour and never got out in public. "She's a powerful woman, a strong woman. If you only knew the story of what happened, it's a funny story in itself," the 35-year-old that point, Aki was faced with a gaggle of journalists desperate for the full story. We have journeyed around Australia for six weeks looking for gold like this and here we were, literally doing the last player interview of the entire trip and the greatest tale of the tour was tumbling out in front of us."Have we got time?" asked the Connacht player. He may as well have asked if we would like a free lunch."It was a good day. I was in the team hotel. I knew we were overdue. The missus calls me and she's like, 'My water hasn't broken but I'm going to the hospital, I'm feeling contractions'."We were getting ready for the team meeting pre-match and she calls back and says she's now on the way to the hospital."Five minutes later, she sends a photo - her water had broken. I was like, 'Cool, OK, are you almost there?' This is like 30 or 40 minutes away from the hospital. I said, 'You'll be all right, Mum is there'."Ten minutes later, she video calls. I was like, 'What's going on?' - and I saw a baby on the video call. She had it in the car on the way to the hospital. They're both strong and healthy, so happy days." Aki was not in the 23-man squad for the first Test, but after the arrival of Aine he was confident the Lions would get the result they duly won 27-19 after blitzing the Wallabies in the first half and secured the series - with Aki now in the side - in Melbourne the following week."I knew it was good 'Juju' [a magical property bringing good luck]. I knew we were going to have a good day," he added."All my kids start with A and my wife loved the name Aine. That's five As in the family - Armani, Adrianna, Andronicus [their one son], Ailbhe, and now Aine."Now that the series is over, the Lions players are scattering this way and that. Some are flying home, some are exploring Australia, others are venturing to different climes in search of a matter how amazing their destinations turn out to be, none of them will be as special as the place Aki is now heading for.
