11 agri officials sacked over Kishangarh fake fertiliser scam

Jaipur: Cracking down on deep-rooted negligence and alleged collusion, Rajasthan agriculture minister Dr Kirori Lal Meena Friday suspended 11 officers of the agriculture department in connection to the unearthing of fake fertiliser manufacturing racket operating out of Kishangarh.
The suspended officials, according to the minister, were found to be complicit or grossly negligent in allowing the scam to thrive for years. The action followed raids personally conducted by Meena at factories and godowns in Kishangarh, where fake fertilisers were being manufactured and supplied to at least 15 to 16 states on. "Despite an earlier inspection on Dec 30, 2024, officials reported nothing suspicious.
The inspection report was deliberately suppressed and the matter was closed," Meena said.
He said there was clear evidence of collusion between officials and the fertiliser units. Those suspended include Banshidhar Jat, then deputy director (Quality Control); Jwala Pratap Singh, assistant director (Quality Control); Govind Singh Naruka, assistant director (Plantation); Mukesh Kumar Chaudhary, assistant director (Plant Protection); Mukesh Kumar Mali, now joint director, Beawar; and Kailash Chandra Sharma, now deputy project director, Agricultural Technology Management Agency.

Man stabbed to death during mobile phone snatching attempt in Delhi, juvenile apprehended
NEW DELHI: A man cycling home from work was stabbed to death by three individuals, including two juveniles, after he resisted a mobile phone snatching attempt in northwest Delhi's Ashok Vihar area. During the course of the investigation, a 17-year-old juvenile suspect was apprehended in connection with the crime. During interrogation, the juvenile confessed that the motive behind the attack was robbery. "Amit was returning home from work when he was intercepted by the trio, who threatened him at knifepoint and demanded his phone," police said. He told cops that while attempting to snatch Amit's mobile phone, an altercation ensued. In the course of the struggle, his two accomplices attacked Amit with knives. Man stabs girlfriend, kills self with gun in Kanpur; police say couple had eloped before

Karnataka home minister G Parameshwara MANGALURU: Home Minister G Parameshwara chaired a progress review meeting on law and order at the Mangaluru City Police Commissioner's Office on Friday. The meeting was attended by senior officers from Mangaluru City Police and Superintendents of Police (SPs) from four districts under the Western Range: Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, and Chikkamagaluru. Various issues were discussed, and officials were given directions to implement strict measures. To fully dismantle the drug network, officers were asked to keep a close watch on the movements of drug peddlers and take legal action wherever necessary. Concerns were raised about the increasing number of traffic rule violations, especially involving minors under the age of 18 driving vehicles, which has led to accidents and fatalities.
