Ulrika Jonsson, 57, slams trolls for ageist comments over podcast appearance
Ulrika Jonsson has slammed trolls who targeted her following a recent podcast appearance. The TV presenter, 57, took aim at the trolls who criticised her appearance recently and called them out for their "nasy comments".
It came after the former model appeared on Spencer Matthews' Untapped Podcast, which is also filmed for fans to watch. Ulrika took to Instagram at the weekend to shut down any bad mouthing and had a stern message for those taking aim at her.
Ulrika explained in her lengthy post that, while she also had positive comments, some viewers felt the need to call her out on her "over-tanned" and "ageing" appearance. But the star wasn't prepared to let them away with it and explained the reasoning behind her look.
After sharing a snap of her blowing a kiss to the camera, she wrote: "I feel I need to address something. I don't get a lot of nasty comments - or if I do, I don't see them or send people love in response.
"But a couple of weeks ago I took part in a fab podcast @untapped.podcast to discuss my sobriety with the smart @spencermatthews. I wore no make-up. Partly because I kinda forgot that a project for the ears is nowadays also a feast for the eyes.
"But as someone who has had to wear heavy make-up on screen from 5am for years, I'm not a fan."
She also confessed to have suffered from eczema as a child, in particularly on her body in the creases of her arms and legs. She also said she had it on her face. Therefore, make-up was "agony" to wear."There were a lot of positive comments about the WORDS I said on the podcast," she continued. "But a considerable amount about my tanned appearance. AND how OLD I look."In a few weeks I will be 58. I will never look like the fresh 21yr old that used to greet you first thing in the morning by the weather board."
She also admitted she isn't ashamed to be "a sun worshipper" and knows she is likely to "pay the price" for that. But she also said that her uneven pigmentation also won't be helped by ageing.
In a candid confession, Ulrika revealed she uses filters on her pictures on occasion as it's easier than applying makeup. However, she also said she works tirelessly in her garden all year round, which often means she is in the sun.
She went on: "I rarely sunbathe any more. Haven't had a sunbed for 6 months - which I do occasionally in winter months. Not ashamed. I have not had a holiday - of any kind - since 2018. That's 7yrs."So, I understand that an over-tanned, imperfect and AGEING face offends you. But try to listen to the words rather than constantly judge women's appearance. You might learn something."
And in a defiant sign-off message, she concluded: "And making people feel s*** doesn't make you a hero."
While she turned off the comments on the post, Ulrika was met with appreciation from over 20,000 followers hitting the like button. Among them were Saturday Kitchen's Matt Tebbutt and Celebs Go Dating's Anna Williamson.
Ulrika had been open on the podcast about how sex has become 'interesting' since she stopped drinking alcohol 13 months ago. She revealed how she felt going sober could impact her sex life, but revealed it has helped.
And she revealed how not drinking on dates has changed her outlook: "Not having a drink and going on a date, it's hard - it's really hard because people are not as attractive," she said before adding that after drink "you just become a little bit more available I guess - it is easier."

John Torode's wife Lisa Faulkner breaks silence on MasterChef axe
Lisa Faulkner has broken her silence after her husband John Torode was sacked as judge on MasterChef following an allegation of racism. John Torode's wife Lisa Faulkner has broken her online silence following her husband's sacking from MasterChef. She's spoken after it was confirmed Torode's contract with the BBC series would not be renewed due to a historic allegation of racism. In a video posted on her Instagram on Monday night, July 28, the actress told fans: "Hi there, I just wanted to check in and say hello. I'm here and just thank you for all your lovely comments because they really, really mean a lot. So thank you." Lisa, 53, married Torode in 2019. This is the second marriage for the pair, with the former Holby City actress previously being with Chris Coghill, known for his role as Tony King in EastEnders. They share an adopted daughter named Billie. Torode's ex-wife is Jessica, and they have two children together. The former MasterChef star, 59, also has two older children from a previous relationship, reports the Mirror. Lisa and Torode first met when Lisa competed on Celebrity MasterChef back in 2010, forming a strong friendship that eventually blossomed. The pair hit it off immediately, maintaining their friendship after filming, but Lisa insists there was no initial romantic spark. "He was a judge on a show I loved and I was petrified of him. He was brilliant and gave us all tips so you didn't want to let him down," she recalled. "All I could think was, 'That sauce hasn't worked'. I didn't see anything but food for three months. After I won, we did The Good Food Show and stuff. John and I always got on, but I never thought about me and him." John Torode's contract with MasterChef will not be renewed, as confirmed by the BBC and production company Banijay UK. The Australian-born presenter, 59, began co-hosting MasterChef with Gregg Wallace in 2005. Torode acknowledged that he was the subject of a complaint regarding the use of racist language, which was upheld during a review conducted by law firm Lewis Silkin into the alleged behaviour of his co-presenter Gregg Wallace. Banijay UK issued a statement saying: "In response to John Torode's statement, it is important to stress that Banijay UK takes this matter incredibly seriously. The legal team at Lewis Silkin that investigated the allegations relating to Gregg Wallace also substantiated an accusation of highly offensive racist language against John Torode which occurred in 2018. "This matter has been formally discussed with John Torode by Banijay UK, and whilst we note that John says he does not recall the incident, Lewis Silkin have upheld the very serious complaint. Banijay UK and the BBC are agreed that we will not renew his contract on MasterChef." The report from Lewis Silkin, commissioned by Banijay UK, found that 45 out of 83 allegations against Wallace were substantiated, along with two standalone allegations made against other individuals, including one for using racist language. Torode acknowledged he was the individual accused of racist language but stated he had "no recollection of the incident" and was "shocked and saddened" by the allegation. A BBC spokesperson commented: "John Torode has identified himself as having an upheld allegation of using racist language against him. This allegation – which involves an extremely offensive racist term being used in the workplace- was investigated and substantiated by the independent investigation led by the law firm, Lewis Silkin. John Torode denies the allegation. "He has stated he has no recollection of the alleged incident and does not believe that it happened. He also says that any racial language is wholly unacceptable in any environment. "The BBC takes this upheld finding extremely seriously. We will not tolerate racist language of any kind and, as we have already said, we told Banijay UK, the makers of MasterChef, that action must be taken. John Torode's contract on MasterChef will not be renewed." Despite Torode's MasterChef dismissal, he has continued to grace television screens alongside Lisa for their own programme. An insider close to ITV confirmed to the Mirror that their scheduling for John and Lisa's Weekend Kitchen 'remains unchanged' despite John's dismissal from MasterChef.

Inside Brooklyn Beckham's ‘financial flex' in feud with dad David as his £85m superyacht dwarfs family's £16m vessel
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) BROOKLYN Beckham is trying to outdo his estranged dad David — by going on holiday on his billionaire in-laws' massive yacht. The 26-year-old sailed into Saint-Tropez in an £85million, 80-metre (260ft) vessel called Project X. Two days later, Brooklyn's dad David, 50, and mum Victoria, 51, arrived in the same French dock in a £16million, 40-metre (130ft) yacht named Seven. A source said: 'Brooklyn's yacht dwarfs the one owned by David and Victoria. It's a financial flex. 'Their relationship is beyond soured now but Brooklyn has really landed on his feet. Nicola and her parents, Nelson and Claudia, are his family now. And he's clearly enjoying the spoils.' Brooklyn's vessel, with a master suite, a VIP cabin, five double rooms and two twin cabins, has a crew of 28. It also boasts a 25ft by 9ft glass-sided swimming pool, a wellness suite, a spa and a 360-degree sundeck. David's yacht is half the size, with five cabins that sleep ten people, and up to seven crew members on board. The boat, which he bought in 2022, also features a spa bath on the upper deck as well as a 65ft garage, which is packed with water toys including a tender and a jet ski. David and Victoria bought Seven — so-called because of their daughter Harper's middle name — in an upgrade from a smaller £5million vessel. They are in Saint-Tropez with Harper, 14, and their other sons Romeo, 22, and Cruz, 20. David and Victoria Beckham's agony as family feud explodes into WW3 and pals say 'Brooklyn has totally cut them off' Brooklyn, along with his wife Nicola, 30, no longer speak to his family following a much-publicised feud earlier this year, which The Sun understands was sparked by money. We first revealed the rift in May. But it worsened earlier this month after brothers Romeo and Cruz appeared to block Brooklyn and Nicola on social media. Those close to Brooklyn said a reconciliation with his family was off the table, adding: 'There's too much water under the bridge.' Brooklyn and Nicola have posted pictures from their break on social media — including one of her naked in one of the yacht's baths. Aspiring cook, photographer and model Brooklyn also posted a snap of himself drinking a bottle of beer next to billionaire businessman Nelson. 10 Brooklyn taking a dip in St. Tropez, where he is staying with his wife Credit: BackGrid 10 Brooklyn shared snaps following his luxury boat trip on Instagram Credit: Instagram 10 Brooklyn hangs out on the mega-expensive vessel Credit: Instagram Brooklyn and Nicola have also been seen out shopping in posh boutiques in and around Saint-Tropez. He also met his godfather, singer Sir Elton John, last week in Cannes. Sir Elton is said to have tried to be a peacemaker in Brooklyn's feud — but is not taking sides. An insider said: 'Elton is the showbiz equivalent of Switzerland. He's utterly neutral in this row. He just wants everyone to be happy. 'He wants to look after them in his role as 'spiritual adviser' as a godfather. It's a role he takes seriously.' 10 Brooklyn and Nicola no longer speak to his family following a much-publicised feud Credit: Instagram 10 Brooklyn and Nicola have posted pictures from their break on social media Credit: Instagram
