Omid's promotion adds pace to Selangor's frontline
The 24-year-old, known for his pace, joined the Red Giants' U-23 side in October last year and is now eager to make his mark with the senior team.
"Since arriving last year, I felt right at home," said Omid in a statement.
"Selangor are a professional, development-focused club, and I'm proud to now be part of the senior team. This is a great opportunity for me to grow, not just as a player but as a person."
"My aim is to play as much as I can, give my all, and help the team succeed."
Born in Mazar-i-Sharif, Afghanistan, and raised in the Netherlands, Omid began his career in the youth ranks of AGOVV Apeldoorn before moving to FC Twente's academy in 2011.
He went on to score 10 goals and provide three assists in 31 matches with Twente's youth squad and also featured for their reserve side.
His development continued with stints in the youth setups of Vitesse and PEC Zwolle, later earning promotion to the senior squads of both Dutch clubs.
Omid's professional breakthrough came in Australia with Para Hills Knights SC, where he made 26 appearances, including in the National Premier Leagues South Australia.
He made his senior international debut for Afghanistan in a friendly against Vietnam on June 1, 2022, and has since earned nine caps.
Selangor have also signed Brazilian striker Chrigor Moraes and Thai international midfielder Picha Autra.
The club are reportedly close to finalising a deal for former Kedah and Chonburi forward Willian Lira.

Deeromram at the double as Red Giants down Brunei 3-0
PETALING JAYA: Selangor bagged their first win of the Super League season after cruising past newcomers Brunei 3-0 at the Petaling Jaya Stadium on Tuesday (Aug 12). Katsuhito Kinoshi's men made a flying start when Thailand international Kevin Deeromram tucked home a low cross in the fifth minute. Deeromram was on target again in the 36th minute to double the Red Giants' advantage. Brunei showed brief flashes of threat after the break, forcing Selangor goalkeeper Kalamullah Al Hafiz into action, but their blunt attack failed to produce a breakthrough. Thailand's rising amateur Kritchanya Kaopattanaskul sank her career first hole-in-one en route to a commanding lead following the first round of the Maybank Championship A sean Qualifier on Tuesday (Aug 12). The 17-year-old Thai national team member produced the magical ace on the 147-yard par-three fourth hole at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club's West Course, which saw her post a stellar first round of five-under-par 67. She leads by five shots from Malaysia's Zulaikah Nasser and another Thai amateur, Achiraya Sriwong, who shot matching 72s. Four players – Genevieve Ling and Aretha Pan, both from Malaysia, Thai amateur Namo Luangnitikul and Thai professional Chakansim Khamborn – are tied for fourth place on one-over-par 73. After two rounds, the top-five players will earn exemptions into the US$3 million Maybank Championship, the region's premier LPGA Tour event, from Oct 30 to Nov 2.
