Punjab: Rallies against land pooling policy on Aug 11, 20
SKM senior leader Sarwan Singh Pandher, who was in Jalandhar, said the farmers, farm labourers and traders from across the state would be participating in this mega rally themed 'Zameen Bachao, Pind Bachao and Punjab Bachao Sangarsh'. 'We are not going relent till the government scraps this anti-farmer policy with immediate effect,' he said, adding that not only the agricultural land, even residential areas and grain markets in several districts come under the purview of this policy. Pandher said they have also invited other outfits of the SKM to join the stir but yet to receive any response.
Another SKM leader, Manjit Singh Rai, said there is no need of urbanisation in Punjab at such a large scale. 'The state government has been working on the lines of the BJP, which introduced three anti-farmer laws in 2020. The implementation of the land pooling scheme is going to be the last nail in the coffin for the state government and AAP as they have to face serious repercussions,' Rai said.
He added that the farmers and their representative bodies were not consulted by the government before drafting this policy.
Meanwhile, farmers at Kukkad, situated on the outskirts of Jalandhar city, have also installed boards, banning the entry of AAP leaders in the village.

Along with Chief Minister Mann, the program saw the presence of Punjab In-charge Manish Sisodia, AAP Punjab Women's Wing State President and Moga MLA Amandeep Kaur Arora, and Punjab Women's Commission Chairperson Raj Lali Gill. Kejriwal addressed the gathering via video conference. Highlighting AAP's inclusive approach, Kejriwal told the women leaders, 'Only the Aam Aadmi Party gives women the opportunity to enter active politics. Other parties use women only as a vote bank. Their women's wing leaders bring women to rallies or attend women-centric events, but they do not allow women from ordinary families to enter active politics.' He emphasised the party's efforts for women's welfare, particularly through the 'War Against Drugs' campaign. 'Women suffer the most due to drugs because drugs snatch away their children and husbands and destroy their homes. Therefore, women should participate in the 'War Against Drugs' campaign and contribute significantly to eradicating drugs from Punjab,' Kejriwal said. He urged women to admit addicted family members to de-addiction centers, noting that the facilities are equipped with modern amenities, including air-conditioning, to ensure patients' comfort. 'In my view, the greatest act of virtue is saving people from drug addiction and bringing their families back on track,' he added, encouraging women to run awareness campaigns in their local areas. Kejriwal also spoke about AAP's broader governance initiatives, stating, 'We built good schools for the children of the poor, mohalla clinics and good government hospitals for their treatment, and made their electricity bills zero. These schemes have made life much easier for poor people, otherwise in such times of high inflation, survival would have been very difficult.' Chief minister Mann addressed the importance of women in society, criticizing opposition parties for limiting their participation. 'Other parties also form women's wings, but they remain limited to a minister. Women from ordinary households are only there to shout slogans,' he said. Mann added, 'Just as a home cannot function properly without women, similarly the country also cannot function properly without their participation.' He highlighted initiatives like free electricity and mohalla clinics that ease the financial burden on women, sharing an example: 'Once I met a milkman who thanked me for doing a lot for milkmen. I asked him how? He said that after 300 units of electricity were made free, women started saving money. Earlier, people used to settle accounts with me every three months. Now they pay me every 10 days because they are saving money on electricity, treatment, and their children's school fees.' He also noted the campaign against drugs primarily benefits women, as they are often the most affected by addiction in their families. Mann cited economic empowerment efforts through self-help groups, saying, 'In Sangrur, with the help of the government, 100 women formed a group and started their own work, and today their monthly turnover has reached Rs 1.5 crore. Apart from this, thousands of women have been recruited into the Punjab Police. Today, women are moving ahead in every field.' Highlighting ongoing efforts to train women leaders, Mann said, 'Just today, we have sent around 350 women sarpanches and panches from Fatehgarh Sahib to Maharashtra for training at government expense. The government will bear the cost of their stay, food, and travel. We are working with full commitment to empower women, and in the coming days, meaningful results will be seen.'

Police stops farmers rally in Ongole district
The police personnel stopped 'Quit Corporation – Quit Agriculture' programme, organised by Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) and United Front of Trade Unions, at Mini Stadium in Ongole on Wednesday. The leaders of both organisations expressed ire over the issue and warned the government that it would face public anger if it tried to suppress protests with force. As per the call given by National Joint Kisan Morcha, the leaders of A.P. Farmers' Association, All India Rythu Coolie Sangham, Kisan Congress, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Congress Party, and various public organisations reached the Mini Stadium on Wednesday morning to hold a rally. On knowing this, police inspectors Y. Nagaraju, M. Srinivasa Rao and M. Venkata Krishna arrived at the place with police personnel and stopped the rally. They announced that prior permission should be obtained to conduct such a rally as Section 30 of the Police Act hss been in force in the district. The SKM leaders urged the police officers to allow them to conduct the rally peacefully, however, the appeal went in vain. The police officials warned that the rally would not be allowed and the protestors arrested if the rules were violated. The SKM leaders strongly condemned the obstruction of the rally and questioned how the programmes being undertaken by the ruling party were allowed when Section 30 was in force in the district. SKM Prakasam district convener Chunduru Ranga Rao called the police personnel's act of blocking the rally a disgrace. 'It is wrong to obstruct agitations on public issues and farmers' issues in a democratic country,' he said. A.P. Rythu Sangam district secretary Pamidi Venkata Rao questioned whether the Centre would waive off the farmers' loans in the State. He alleged that the Narendra Modi-led government had waived off loans worth ₹16 lakh crore to corporates, sold 2 lakh acres of cultivable land in the State at a cheaper price, and allowed tax evasion of lakhs of crores of rupees.

AAP Slams Centre For Shielding Vote Fraud, BJP Says "Baseless Accusations"
New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party on Tuesday alleged that the BJP-led central government was avoiding discussion in Parliament on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls to hide its role in large-scale vote manipulation. The Delhi BJP dismissed the AAP's charges as baseless attempts to justify its electoral defeat. Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh claimed the Modi government's refusal to debate the SIR issue showed it was "part of the entire game". He alleged several cases of multiple votes registered at Union ministers' addresses and petitions by BJP workers to delete thousands of votes in 14 assembly constituencies in Delhi. Singh said similar electoral fraud took place in other states, including Maharashtra, Haryana and Bihar. AAP's Delhi unit president Saurabh Bharadwaj accused the Election Commission of deliberately obstructing access to voter lists and demanded legal action against election commissioners "whenever the government changes". Hitting back, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva countered that opposition parties were making "baseless accusations" to undermine democratic institutions after losing elections. He said while AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal had accepted the February poll results as the people's mandate, its leaders were now alleging rigging "just to stay in the news". Sachdeva said that the AAP lost the Delhi assembly elections due to its "misgovernance, corruption, and inefficiency".
