Visakhapatnam: Leader of the opposition in AP legislative council, Botcha Satyanarayana, fainted due to heatstroke on Wednesday. Botcha was addressing a rally in his constituency of Cheepurupalli in Vizianagaram district as part of YSRCP's state-wide 'Backstabbing Day' protests against the NDA govt when he suddenly fell sick.
He was standing atop a vehicle and addressing the crowd during the rally when he collapsed. He was immediately rushed to a hospital in Vizianagaram, where he recovered after treatment.
The incident caused concern among YSRCP leaders and the former minister's followers across north coastal AP. Later, in an official release, Botcha said while speaking at the public meeting he experienced slight discomfort. "However, immediately afterwards, by the grace of God and with all your blessings, I recovered. No one should worry about my health. I thank everyone for the large participation of YSRCP members that made the Cheepurupalli meeting a success," he said.
Apart from serving as a minister under various chief ministers, including YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Botcha also worked as PCC president in erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh.

Vijayawada: A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) petition was filed before the high court seeking a probe with a (SIT) comprising officials from the (CBI), (ED), Income Tax (IT), Revenue, and Police to investigate the alleged exploitation of natural resources during the YSRCP regime. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now At the request of the petitioner's counsel, the high court posted the matter for hearing next Wednesday. One Mahek Maheswari, an advocate from South Delhi, filed the petition seeking directions for the investigation agencies to register an FIR against Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and others who possessed disproportionate assets compared to their known sources of income. Mahek, who argued as a party in person through virtual mode, requested the bench to take up the matter next week as he wanted to argue physically before the bench. The high court bench, headed by Chief Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and Justice Ravi Cheemalapati, inquired about the petitioner's identity, whether he is an activist, and if he has filed any PILs earlier. Responding to the query from the bench, Mahek said that he filed PILs on temple issues, corruption charges, and the income tax portal issue. In the petition, Mahek mentioned that the present PIL was based on information provided by the state govt in the Andhra Pradesh assembly in the form of white papers. These papers mentioned various scams that took place in mines, minerals, lands, and forest wealth being siphoned off. The white papers contain details of losses incurred to the state exchequer. Mahek mentioned that Rs 4,469 crore worth of lands were encroached in Visakhapatnam, and another land scam worth Rs 101 crore took place in Ongole. He stated that there was a Rs 3,000 crore scam in land allotments for house sites, a Rs 300 crore scam in land allotments to YSRCP offices, a Rs 3,113 crore liquor scam, and Rs 19,000 crore looted through illegal mining, including sand. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Mahek sought directions to constitute a multi-agency SIT, with the investigation supervised by a retired Supreme Court judge to ensure transparency. He said that the state police proved to be ineffective in dealing with these types of cases, and hence the matter should be probed by central agencies, as stated in the petition.

Naidu to lay foundation for grand Gandikota tourism project

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh is gearing up to boost tourism and attract large-scale investments through key initiatives unveiled by state tourism, culture, and cinematography minister Kandula Durgesh on Wednesday. Speaking to the media at Nidadavolu, minister outlined the govt's upcoming plans to transform the tourism sector and draw in industrial investments. On Friday, chief minister Chandrababu Naidu will lay the foundation stone for a prestigious 78-crore Gandikota tourism project in YSR Kadapa district, under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme in collaboration with the central govt. The event is scheduled to take place in the afternoon at Gandikota, following the conclusion of the pension distribution program in Jammalamadugu. Minister Durgesh emphasized that the project is part of the government's vision to revitalize tourism infrastructure in the region, showcasing Gandikota as a heritage and adventure tourism destination. Further, on Saturday and Sunday, Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) will organize a major tourism exhibition in Udaipur, Rajasthan. The exhibition aims to engage young entrepreneurs and industrialists from northern states and invite them to invest in Andhra Pradesh's tourism sector. In addition, minister Durgesh announced that the state will host a major partnership summit in Visakhapatnam on November 14 and 15, marking the return of high-profile investment conclaves under the new TDP-led administration. The summit is expected to open doors for multi-sectoral investments, with a special focus on infrastructure, hospitality, and tourism. A cabinet sub-committee has been formed to oversee preparations for the summit. Minister Durgesh confirmed that minister Nara Lokesh has been appointed as the chairman of the committee, while he himself will serve as one of the key members. The summit will serve as a platform to showcase Andhra Pradesh's investor-friendly policies and attract both domestic and international investors. Durgesh noted that during Naidu's earlier tenure, the partnership summit was held annually, particularly in Visakhapatnam, and resulted in substantial investments as many enthusiastic entrepreneurs responded positively to the state's proactive approach. He also criticized the previous YSRCP govt, stating that during their five-year term, there was no consistent policy to promote investment or tourism, except for holding a solitary meeting that lacked follow-through. He affirmed that the current government, under CM Naidu and deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, is fully committed to reinvigorating the state's investment climate through sustained engagement and robust summits.

TDP-led govt tarnishing Andhra Pradeshs image, says YSRCP

Amaravati, Jul 30 (PTI) The YSRCP on Wednesday accused the TDP-led NDA government in Andhra Pradesh of tarnishing the state's image by allegedly extorting industrialists, including a leading automobile manufacturer in Rayalaseema. The former MP claimed that leaders of the ruling alliance were demanding contracts, commissions and jobs, which he said could lead to factory closures and relocation of industries. 'The coalition government is tarnishing Andhra Pradesh's industrial and social fabric," YSRCP leader Talari Rangaiah said in a release issued by the party. 'Instead of visionary governance promised by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, what we see is extortion and mismanagement," he alleged. Rangaiah accused the government of 'plundering" the state's natural resources such as sand, quartz and liquor, and of stifling avenues of wealth creation. He further alleged that welfare schemes were being 'manipulated to benefit party loyalists, in violation of the principle of impartiality". The YSCRCP claimed that the number of welfare pension beneficiaries is 'steadily declining", while field assistants, animators and contractors are being retrenched, contradicting the government's promises of job creation. Rangaiah said the previous YSRCP ensured transparent and corruption-free delivery of welfare schemes through direct benefit transfer. This corrupt government threatens industries and impoverishes citizens, he alleged, calling for immediate corrective measures to protect Andhra Pradesh's economic and social future. Senior TDP leader G Deepak Reddy hit back at Rangaiah, accusing him of making false claims. 'These statements are not only factually incorrect but a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and cover up the YSRCP government's anti-industry track record," Reddy told PTI. It was under the visionary leadership of Naidu that the automobile company was brought to Andhra Pradesh, he said, adding that the state government at that time ensured a conducive environment for industrial growth, resulting in one of the largest foreign investments in the state's history. The automobile company created thousands of direct and indirect jobs, boosting the local economy and placing Andhra Pradesh on the global industrial map, he said. Contrary to the YSRCP's claims, Reddy said, it is their actions that have undermined investor confidence. He said the TDP is committed to transparent, industry-friendly governance and the creation of quality employment opportunities for the people of Andhra Pradesh. 'We call upon the YSRCP to refrain from spreading misinformation and instead focus on creating a stable and welcoming environment for investment and development," Reddy said.
