OGC Nice confirm Youssoufa Moukoko departure
Moukoko netted just two goals for Nice, both of which came in the 8-0 hammering of Saint-Étienne back in September. He was often used off the bench in Ligue 1 in the first part of the season but was given more opportunity to prove his credentials in the Europa League. He did not take them, failing to net in eight games in that competition as Le Gym finished second from bottom in the League Phase and without a single win.

Nice's elimination from that tournament coincided with the German dropping out of the picture entirely. His last game in any competition came in the Coupe de France against Stade Briochin in early February; his last start in Ligue 1 came all the way back in October.
Unsurprisingly, therefore, Moukoko will not be retained by Nice. 'We won't keep him,' confirmed Bocquet during an interview with Ici Azur. There had been an option to make the deal permanent for €18m. He will therefore return to parent club Borussia Dortmund. Reports in Germany suggest that the Bundesliga giants will look to sell the forward.

Mainz make internal decision to part company with Nelson Weiper
Kicker reports that Mainz striker Nelson Weiper will not be traveling with his Bundesliga club to Norway this week to contest a Conference League playoff fixture. Already left out of Mainz's DFB Pokal squad yesterday due to issues stemming from a contractual dispute, signs are strongly pointing to a messy divorce. Kicker's Thiemo Müller further notes that Mainz are actively seeking a replacement for Weiper on the transfer market. Weiper has officially been demoted to the club reserves and will be remaining there until the transfer window closes on September 1st. In principle a lot could still happen between now and the close of the window. Should Mainz not be able to find a taker and procure a replacement for the 20-year-old, there could still be reconciliation. Müller nevertheless notes that Mainz have made an internal decision about the future of the talented Germany U21 international. A new striker could be unveiled very soon. Club management are working hard on bringing in a new forward. Müller leads his piece with the headline 'Tischtuch zerschnitten' ('tablecloth cut'). The German idiomatic expression refers to the archaic manner in which German divorces were once conducted. Separated spouses divided up one of the household's most prized possessions by snapping it in half. Mainz have decided they must sell Weiper this summer rather than risk losing him on a free in January. GGFN | Peter Weis

Photo Gallery: Thomas Muller's Major League Soccer debut
Photo Gallery: Thomas Muller's Major League Soccer debut Thomas Muller's Major League Soccer debut was almost perfect. Almost. The German soccer icon came off the bench for the Vancouver Whitecaps on Sunday and put the ball into the back of the net just minutes later. Then the offside flag went up. 'I think the moment when I scored the goal was amazing. The noise in the stadium and then also the reaction of my teammates, that was a great start for me," Muller said. "In the end, the result was a little bit disappointing. But that's the game. That's the game.' The Whitecaps (13-6-7) settled for a 1-1 draw with the Houston Dynamo (7-11-8). Muller signed with the Whitecaps on Aug. 6 after playing 17 seasons for Bayern in the German Bundesliga. There, he became a household name, scoring 250 goals across all competitions and helping the club to 33 titles, including 13 league championships. Here is a look at some scenes from Muller's MLS debut. This report by The Canadian Press was first published Aug. 18, 2025.

Chelsea Could Move In For This Bundesliga Ace Soon: What Will He Add To Maresca's Team?
In a recent report, Sky Deutschland mentioned that Chelsea could move in for Red Bull Leipzig playmaker Xavi Simons soon. It has been mentioned that the Blues have already agreed personal terms with the Dutch attacker but are yet to decide on a fee with the German club. Simons' Decent Form In German Football Last Season The 22-year-old managed to impress with his performances for RB Leipzig in the previous campaign. Simons found the back of the net 11 times and secured eight assists in 33 matches for RB Leipzig last season in all competitions. The Dutch attacker was a reliable performer in the final third as he averaged 2.09 shots per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. He even interchanged possession accurately with his teammates in the opponent's half based on his pass success rate of 78.6% in the top tier of German football (stats via Simons is under contract at the German club until the summer of 2027, so Chelsea would have to make a convincing offer if they want to get a deal done for the Dutch talent in this transfer period. WOLFSBURG, GERMANY – APRIL 11: Xavi Simons of RB Leipzig celebrates scoring his team's third goal during the Bundesliga match between VfL Wolfsburg and RB Leipzig at the Volkswagen Arena on April 11, 2025 in Wolfsburg, Germany. (Photo by) What Will Simons Add To Chelsea Boss Enzo Maresca's Side? Simons is a decent dribbler with the ball and can make some promising runs with it in and around the opponent's penalty area. He has got the vision to play a few killer passes in the final third and can strike the ball with venom from long range. However, there are some question marks over whether the Dutch talent can maintain his good form in the Premier League if the Blues manage to get him on board this summer. We can expect Simons to add a lot of firepower to Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca's frontline. He is good enough to challenge for a regular starting spot at Stamford Bridge this season and could help the Blues compete across all fronts in the coming years. At 22, Simons is destined to have a bright future in European football. Thus, Chelsea would do well to snap him up before the end of this transfer window. However, Maresca has to be patient with his progress before he can get the best out of the Dutch playmaker at the West London club.
