He was stabbed reportedly in his back, torso, head and face earlier this month inside the prison by a fellow inmate.
The frenzied attack left "both of his lungs collapsed, and he was placed on a breathing apparatus," a social media post on his account read.
An image has now been revealed which shows the rapper's entire body covered in blood just moments after the stabbing.
It shows him walking through a corridor wearing grey shorts and gold chains with a shocked expression on his face.
The picture was revealed after CCTV footage from inside the prison showed the rapper being stabbed by a fellow inmate.
The 39-second clip, obtained by TMZ, shows Lanez stepping out of a cell and walking up a starcase before the man charges at him and stabs him 14 times.
Lanez can be seen on the ground kicking his legs in a bid to fend the attacker off.
He can also be heard screaming, "Oh God" as he collapses on the floor.
The rapper eventually managed to flee from his attacker - alleged to be fellow inmate Santino Casio - and save his life.
Lanez took to social media to say he is "deeply thankful" to have survived the attack but has been left with two collapsed lungs.
It added that "both of his lungs collapsed, and he was placed on a breathing apparatus" but he is "now breathing on his own".
According to the post, 'Despite being in pain, he is talking normally, in good spirits, and deeply thankful to God that he is pulling through.'
His injuries were severe but not life-threatening, according to his team.
Pedro Calderon Michel, from the state Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, confirmed the attack.
He said it took place at a housing unit at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi at about 7:20am.
Staff dashed to the scene to give initial treatment and called 911.
Lanez was then rushed to an outside hospital in Bakersfield for further treatment, reports TMZ.

Michel added that the stabbing was being investigated by the prison itself as well as the Kern County District Attorney's Office.
Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion in July of 2020.
He was found guilty of assault semi-automatic firearm and two further gun charges at trial in December 2022.
Megan Thee Stallion testified against Lanez during the trial, recalling that the pair had left a party at Kylie Jenner's Hollywood Hills home.
Megan told the court that they argued and she jumped out of the car, before Lanez fired a gun at her heels and ordered her to dance.
She required surgery to remove bullet fragments from her foot.
Lanez has always refused to apologise and maintained his innocence, and his lawyers appealed his conviction.
A judge denied a motion for him to receive a new trial in May 2023.
Some figures from the hip-hop world controversially came out in favour of Lanez, including Iggy Azalea who penned a letter in support of him.
The biggest hits from the star include The Color Violet, with over a billion streams, and WHATS POPPIN.
Just last week, the rapper posted a photo of himself behind bars, teasing the release of his next album.

However, later that night, she found herself seated next to Malik after he squeezed into a booth to be next to her. Malik then 'slid his hand under her right thigh and touched her butt,' according to the lawsuit. Starling was terrified after the encounter and was 'noticeably trembling in fear' while she tried to eat. Starling escaped the situation by excusing herself to go to the bathroom. When the show began and the group went to their seats, Malik allegedly attempted to get Starling to sit next to him. When Starling's general manager sat with her instead, Malik was 'visibly angry with the situation,' the lawsuit states. She was then instructed to submit an official resignation letter, despite having informed HR that she had no intention of quitting. Not even a month after the concert, she received an email that HR was 'upholding her resignation.' She was later informed that the third-party investigation couldn't substantiate her claims. Starling's attorney, Jack Shulz, told Daily Mail that he sees the comparisons between her story and the viral video of the Astronomer CEO Andrew Byron and his HR chief, Kristin Cabot. 'Although a lot of the focus is the comparison to the deplorable acts of this CEO and that of the Astronomer CEO at the Coldplay, a harder look should be given to the acts of the two human resources departments, which are present themselves as being neutral and having open doors to employees,' he said. 'Here, Starling and others immediately reported the incident, HR acted to protect the company, and she was terminated for speaking up. Actor Aubrey Plaza continued to return to the public eye Tuesday night, eight months on from her husband Jeff Baena's tragic death. The filmmaker, who Plaza married in 2021, died by suicide aged 47 in January, after which it was revealed they had split four months before his death. An LA County Medical Examiner's autopsy report obtained by revealed that the filmmaker and actress had separated back in September of last year, and she had been living in New York at the time his body was discovered on January 3. The report detailed how the Life After Beth director had been 'experiencing marital difficulties' in his final months and how he had been in therapy. An investigator noted in the documents that Aubrey, whose name was redacted in the final report, said she had spoken with Jeff the night before his death. The report also tragically revealed that Aubrey had been concerned for her estranged husband's wellbeing. The paperwork said: 'In October 2024, Baena made concerning remarks to [Plaza] which prompted her to call a friend to perform a welfare check on her husband. Baena had been attending therapy since that event.' The medical examiner's report also determined that Baena did not have drugs or alcohol in his system at the time of his death. It stated that Aubrey 'knew her husband to be alive' as of January 3 because he had sent her a text message that morning. The report indicated that a dog walker discovered his body after hearing loud music coming from his home, which she said was 'unusual.' After she called him and didn't get an answer, she entered the home and discovered his remains.

Trump calls for Fed board member to quit in fresh attack on central bank
Donald Trump has demanded a Federal Reserve governor resign over fraud allegations in a fresh attack on the independence of America's central bank. On Wednesday, Mr Trump called on Fed member Lisa Cook to quit after claims from Bill Pulte, the federal housing finance agency chief and a key Trump ally, that Ms Cook had committed mortgage fraud. Mr Pulte, a leading critic of the Fed and its chairman Jerome Powell, said he had sent a criminal referral letter to Pam Bondi, the attorney general, demanding an investigation into allegations that Ms Cook falsified documents and claimed two properties as her primary residence. In response, Mr Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social: 'Cook must resign, now!!!' Mr Pulte, who is in charge of America's mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, is a staunch Trump supporter who has become one of Mr Powell's loudest and most aggressive critics. Mr Pulte has written dozens of posts on X criticising Mr Powell's decision to hold interest rates, claiming the Fed's renovation was 'riddled with fraud' and accusing Mr Powell of 'conducting economic warfare against America'. The president's demand is the latest attack on Fed independence after Mr Trump spent months hurling criticism at Mr Powell for keeping interest rates high. The president has repeatedly called Mr Powell a 'numbskull' and 'Mr Too Late' for failing to cut rates and has several times threatened to oust him. Mr Trump's attacks have triggered widespread warnings over the Fed's ability to operate independently from government interference and jitters in the bond market. Ms Cook, who was appointed by former president Joe Biden, has so far voted in line with Mr Powell to keep interest rates on hold at every federal open market committee (FOMC) meeting since December. Her potential departure from the board would open up another opportunity for Mr Trump to appoint an ally who would favour interest rate cuts. Dissent against Mr Powell is rising at the Fed. The last FOMC meeting at the end of July saw two board members – Christopher Waller and Michelle Bowman – vote for an interest rate cut. Both Mr Waller and Ms Bowman are in the running for Mr Trump's pick to replace Mr Powell, whose term as chairman expires in May. This month, Mr Trump nominated Stephen Miran, the chairman of his council of economic advisors, as a temporary board member to replace Adriana Kugler, who announced she was stepping down before her term was due to expire in January. Mr Miran's nomination needs to be approved by the Senate, but it is feasible that he could be in place in time for the Fed's next interest rate decision on Sept 17. Investors are betting that Mr Powell and the rest of the FOMC will favour a September cut after surprisingly bad jobs data suggested that the American economy is weaker than previously thought. Mr Trump and Scott Bessent, the treasury secretary, are in the process of choosing a permanent replacement for Ms Kugler on the board and become Mr Powell's replacement as chairman.
