New Delhi [India], May 30 (ANI): Spiritual leader Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev has approached the Delhi High Court, seeking protection of his personality rights against unauthorised use of his name and image by various websites employing artificial intelligence.During the hearing before the bench of Justice Saurabh Benarjee, it was argued that his identity was being exploited to promote products fraudulently, prompting requests for takedown orders."My name is being exploited to sell products--one such example is the book Garbh Yatra (on pregnancy), which features my image on its cover. People are blindly trusting these offerings because of my reputation, making this a clear case of fraud. These entities are leveraging AI to deceive the public," he argued.The counsel representing Google submitted that affected parties must report specific URLs to intermediaries before any action can be taken.After a brief hearing, the bench stated that it would issue an interim order on the matter soon.In March this year, the Delhi High Court directed the removal of videos and content published by a YouTuber against spiritual leader Sadhguru's Isha Foundation from online platforms.While issuing the order, the court emphasised that reputation is an essential aspect of an individual's dignity. It also underscored the need to balance freedom of speech and expression with the right to reputation.

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], May 31 (ANI): The Telangana unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday, accusing him of reducing the Chief Minister's Office to a stage for photo-ops and media spectacles, rather than addressing serious issues of governance. In a sharp statement, BJP State Chief Spokesperson and Media In-Charge N.V. Subash criticised Revanth Reddy for what he described as 'bizarre and irresponsible' behaviour unbecoming of a state leader. He accused the Chief Minister of parroting false narratives that appear more in tune with Pakistan's propaganda than with the sentiments of Indian citizens. Referring to Revanth Reddy's recent remarks questioning the Modi government's military record and alleging failure to reclaim Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK), Subash said, 'Is he living in a fantasy? Even a national daily that once published such claims had to retract them after the Defence Ministry clarified the facts. Yet, the CM chooses to repeat these lies, presumably to curry favour with his party high command--Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi--thanks to whom he parachuted into the CM's chair.' Subash questioned whether the Chief Minister had any respect for the Indian Armed Forces, pointing out that the Directorate General of Military Operations (DGMO) had long clarified the facts Revanth continues to distort. 'Even a staunch BJP critic like AIMIM's Asaduddin Owaisi has no hesitation in calling out Pakistan's duplicity. But Revanth Reddy, in a stunning display of ignorance, appears to justify the enemy nation's claims,' he said. Taking a dig at the Chief Minister's priorities, Subash added, 'It is unfortunate that Revanth Reddy seems more thrilled about appearing alongside Miss World on tomorrow's front pages than expressing solidarity with the nation at a time of heightened tensions with our rogue neighbour, Pakistan.' He further mocked the CM for predicting Rahul Gandhi as India's future Prime Minister. 'Even his party members would laugh at that suggestion,' Subash quipped. The BJP Chief Spokesperson urged the Chief Minister to 'exercise restraint and responsibility' in public discourse, stating that such reckless commentary not only damages Revanth Reddy's credibility but also tarnishes the image of Telangana, a state that played a stellar role in India's freedom struggle. Deendayal Port Authority unloads 79,780 tonnes of coal in 24 hours
Kachchh (Gujarat) [India], May 31 (ANI): The Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) of Kandla set a new record by unloading 79,780 tonnes of steam coal from MV KMAX RULER in just 24 hours. In a post on social media platform X, the DPA said that the record-breaking operation was carried out with the coordinated efforts of vessel agent M/s Genesis Shipping, stevedore M/s Shiv Shipping Services, and importer M/s Gallant Metals. 'Record Reloaded at DPA! In a stellar feat of efficiency, MV KMAX RULER unloaded 79,780 tons of Steam Coal in just 24 hours at Deendayal Port, Kandla -- setting a new benchmark!,' the X post of Deendayal Port Authority added. DPA has set ambitious targets after exceeding its own target of handling 150.16 million tonnes of cargo in the financial year 2024-25. Speaking to ANI in April this year, DPA Chairperson Sushil Kumar Singh said that the port aims to handle 170 million tonnes of cargo, representing a growth rate of over 10 per cent. This new target is expected to redistribute cargo volumes among other ports. Kandla is a seaport in India situated in the Kachchh District of Gujarat. Kandla Port is the gateway port for states like Punjab, Haryana, Jammu, and Kashmir, as well as the rich industrial belt of West and North India. Kandla Port, located on the Gulf of Kutch on the northwestern coast of India, was constructed in the 1950s after India's independence as the chief seaport serving western India. According to its website, it is the largest port in India in terms of the volume of cargo handled. Deendayal Port Authority, India's busiest major port in recent years, is gearing up to add substantial cargo handling capacity with private sector participation. The Union Government is actively working to enhance the capacity of the port. Earlier in the month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for several transformational projects of DPA, worth over Rs 1,100 crore. (ANI)

Delhi High Court affirms Military Code over religious exemptions
New Delhi [India], May 31 (ANI): Reaffirming the unity and discipline of the armed forces, the Delhi High Court has upheld the termination of a Commanding Officer who refused to participate in regimental weekly religious parades, citing his Christian faith. The court stated that the Indian Armed Forces are composed of personnel from diverse religious backgrounds, but their primary duty is to safeguard the nation. It asserted that military unity is forged through service and uniform rather than religious, caste, or regional distinctions. Additionally, the court underscored the heightened responsibility of Commanding Officers to ensure that troops under their command have appropriate facilities to observe their respective religious practices while maintaining military cohesion and discipline. In its ruling, the Delhi High Court reinforced the secular foundation of the Indian Armed Forces, emphasising that while certain regiments may carry names linked to religion or region, this does not compromise the institution's neutrality. The court noted that war cries--often perceived as religious--are purely motivational, designed to foster unity and solidarity among troops. The bench of Justice Navin Chawla and Justice Shalinder Kaur also highlighted that the armed forces respect the religious beliefs of their personnel, as outlined in paragraph 332 of military regulations, which mandates that religious customs and prejudices be honoured. Further, the court underscored the pivotal role of Commanding Officers in ensuring their troops have access to religious observance facilities while maintaining unit cohesion. It ruled that commanding officers must lead by example, prioritising collective unity over individual religious preferences, especially in combat and warfare scenarios. The Court has upheld the termination of an Indian Army officer who refused to participate in regimental religious parades, citing personal faith. The officer, dismissed without pension or gratuity, had sought reinstatement but was denied. Commissioned in 2017, the officer was assigned to a regiment comprising personnel from different religious backgrounds. He argued that the unit lacked a 'Sarv Dharm Sthal' for all faiths and requested exemption from entering temples during religious rituals. The Army maintained that despite multiple counselling sessions, the officer persistently refused to attend mandatory regimental parades, undermining unit cohesion. After exhausting all options, the Chief of Army Staff deemed his retention undesirable due to misconduct. The court noted that while some regiments bear religious names and use war cries with religious connotations, these elements serve purely motivational purposes and do not compromise the secular ethos of the Armed Forces. It stressed that Commanding Officers must prioritise discipline and unity over personal religious beliefs. Recognising the heightened discipline required in the military, the bench ruled that courts cannot interfere with decisions necessary for maintaining morale and operational effectiveness. It concluded that the officer's refusal to comply had disrupted traditional camaraderie, making his dismissal justified. (ANI)
