F1 world reacts to eye-watering detail around Australian GP move for Oscar Piastri
Oscar Piastri is set to emulate a number of Australian motorsport legends by having a grandstand named after him at next year's Australian Formula One Grand Prix. The news has sent fans of the F1 championship leader into a frenzy, with details emerging about the eye-watering cost for tickets to sit in the Piastri Grandstand at next year's grand prix at Albert Park, which takes place from March 5-8. The new stand will be located opposite pit lane on the main straight, in a development that will add to an existing stand at Melbourne's iconic circuit. The Fangio Grandstand will effectively be sectioned into two and capacity will be expanded, with the new Piastri Grandstand incorporating the most premium and sought after seats closest to the start line. It will come at a significant cost to fans lucky enough to snag seats in the new stand though, with the Australian Grand Prix site releasing eye-watering details of the ticket packages for the grand prix in 2026. The cheapest option for a one-day ticket start at $290 for an adult at Friday's practice sessions. There are one-day options for both Saturday $610) and race day Sunday ($835), as well as a two-day pass encompassing both days for a cool $950 per adult. And for the most cashed-up and passionate fans out there, a four-day pass from Thursday to Sunday will set spectators back a whopping $1045. Piastri will join a number of other legendary Australian drivers to have a grandstand named after him, including Jack Brabham, Arthur Waite, Alan Jones, Daniel Ricciardo and Mark Webber. And the 24-year-old Victorian admits it's a 'surreal' feeling and an incredible honour to be recognised for his achievements, as Piastri chases Australia's first F1 world championship in 45 years. The Aussie driver took to social media to deliver the massive news and says he can't wait to see the reception from fan at his home grand prix next year. "I'm very excited by the news that I'll have my own grandstand at next year's Australian Grand Prix," Piastri said. "It feels very surreal, and I never thought this would happen but the support is incredible and I can't wait to see it all come together next March. Seeing all the fans in my own grandstand directly opposite the McLaren garage is going to be an amazing experience and I'm really looking forward to feeling the energy and the atmosphere." Only gone and got a grandstand — Oscar Piastri (@OscarPiastri) August 18, 2025 Piastri's six grands prix wins in 2025 are already more in a single season than any other Australian driver since the world championship started in 1950. McLaren teammate Lando Norris is second on 275 points and also has 12 podiums, while Red Bull's four-time defending champion Max Verstappen is third on 187 points. Mercedes driver George Russell is fourth in the standings on 172, while Ferrari's Charles Leclerc (151 points) rounds out the top-five ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix starting later this month. Chris Pratt talks hanging out with Robert F. Kennedy Jr.: 'I love him'
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has a fan in Chris Pratt. The "Guardians of the Galaxy" star, 46, spoke with Bill Maher on the "Club Random" podcast about his relationship with the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services. "I've spent a number of occasions hanging with him, just in a strictly family dinner kind of vibe, and I really got along with him well," Pratt said during the episode released on Aug. 18. "I think he's great. I think he's funny. I like him. I love him." Pratt's wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger, is a member of the Kennedy family. She is the granddaughter of Eunice Kennedy Shriver, a philanthropist and sibling of Robert F. Kennedy. Pratt also told Maher that politics is a "nasty business," and he has seen "how the person you are can be such a contrast to the person that people are being told that you are." Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger welcome their first son together Kennedy, who endorsed Trump's 2024 election bid after dropping his own campaign for president as an independent, has been criticized for his history of promoting false or misleading claims about vaccines. "When you jump on the bandwagon with the most divisive president ever, it makes sense that you're going to be made to look terrible," Pratt said. "So I don't know what to believe. It's not like I sit with Bobby and go, 'So hey, let's talk about this.' We're just playing cards or playing Mafia or having fun or having dinner. I'm not going to pick his brain to find out exactly which of those things are true. I just kind of assume that none of them are, and for the most part, I wish him well." Pratt argued that even critics of the Trump administration should be able to root for its success in some instances. "I'd hate to be so mired in hatred for the president that any success from his administration is something I'd have an allergic reaction to," he said. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. declares 'loyalty' to Trump, rules out a 2028 presidential bid The "Terminal List" actor did not endorse a candidate in the 2024 presidential election, even as several of his Marvel costars rallied around former Vice President Kamala Harris. In an essay for his mother-in-law Maria Shriver's Sunday Paper before the election, Pratt wrote that he was "trying to make sense of the election through the eyes of Americans on both sides." "I've been thinking a lot about where we'll be as a nation on November 6th, how we can attempt to move forward after so much division, and how some of the lessons that sports teach us may be just what all of us need as we chart a course forward," he wrote. Pratt went on to add that after the election, Americans should exercise their "civic duty" to "accept the results and focus instead on showing up for each other."
