Christian Horner could make shock return to F1 with Red Bull's rivals after brutal sacking and have very frosty reunion

CHRISTIAN HORNER is jobless for the first time since 2004 after his brutal Red Bull sacking last week.
The 51-year-old is now twidling his thumbs on gardening leave for the rest of the year.

And Horner and will be weighing up his options from January 2026 onwards.
Rumours have been swirling around over the Brit's potential destinations - including a shock move to Ferrari.
Reports in Italian and German media begun claiming in May that Ferrari boss Fred Vasseur's position is under threat.
Vasseur hit out at the reports and said they were "disrespectful" and "very harsh".
But German outlet BILD has added fuel to the fire, claiming that Ferrari had made "informal" contact with Horner.
Horner dismissed the report - but speculation will continue to grow as the weeks go by with him sitting on the sidelines.
Come the Belgian Grand Prix later this month, Horner will be missing from the F1 paddock for the first time in nearly 21 years.
And Horner, who won six constructors' championships and eight drivers' titles with Red Bull, will no doubt be getting itchy feet soon.

If Horner did pen an unlikely move at Ferrari it would see him form a wild pairing with his old rival, seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.
Hamilton has a Ferrari contract until at least the end of 2026 and is already a huge voice within the Italian team.
Christian Horner SACKED by Red Bull F1! Shock Departure After 20 Years
It is likely he would not be impressed if Horner replaced Vasseur, given he is a big fan of the Frenchman and has thrown his support behind him in public.
When Vasseur's future was under speculation, Hamilton said: "I love working with Fred – Fred's the main reason I'm in this team and got the opportunity to be here, for which I'm forever grateful for, and we're in this together.
'We're working hard in the background, things aren't perfect but, for me, I'm here to work with the team but also with Fred.
"I want Fred here. I do believe Fred is the person to take us to the top, so that's that. So it's all nonsense."
Bad blood
Hamilton took a strong take on Horner's alleged 'inappropriate behaviour' with a female colleague last year.
The ex-Red Bull boss was twice cleared from it by an independent investigation but Hamilton said it was "hanging over the sport" and said the outcome was "important for the future of F1".
He also hit out at Horner in 2023 for "stirring" when he claimed Hamilton tried to join his team after leaving Mercedes.
At the time Horner said that a member of Hamilton's team had been in touch over a possible switch to Red Bull earlier in the year.
Hamilton rebuffed it and said Horner had actually been the one to text him and try set up a meeting.
Obviously there was bad blood going back between the two during Hamilton and Max Verstappen's fierce and controversial title fight in 2021 which reached its crescendo in the contentious season finale in Abu Dhabi.

Hamilton changed his tune
Recently, with Horner still at Red bull, Hamilton admitted he regretted referring to Red Bull as a "drinks company" in 2011.
His comments suggested that he is previous beef with Horner was water under the bridge.
At Silverstone he said: "Many, many years ago, I remember saying something about Red Bull being only a drinks company.
'I always regretted it because I was just saying that Mercedes at the time were great.
"I was really just trying to gee up my team. But the truth is, Red Bull have been an incredible team. There are so many people there that are exceptional and they've dominated for years.'
Horner makes his feelings on Hamilton known
It feels like Horner would have no qualms working with the British 40-year-old, who he has praised in public this season.
Speaking earlier in the year, Horner said of Hamilton's Ferrari move: "I've seen some pictures, I think it [Ferrari red] suits him.
"It's great for Formula 1. Lewis Hamilton in a Ferrari – that really is box office.
"I think it's just another dynamic for this year that could be super exciting."
Back in 2023, Horner was asked whether he would sign Hamilton for Red Bull.
He replied: "What Lewis has achieved in F1 is second to none, but we're very happy with the drivers that we have – they're committed as a pair for not only this season but the next season as well.
"I can't see where we would be able to accommodate Lewis, but I'm sure they're [Mercedes] going to sort their issues out and we're certainly not writing him off yet."

Hearts report and player ratings v Hamilton: Debut goal, trialists, Claudio Braga impact in Premier Sports Cup

Victory over Hamilton Academical put Hearts in a strong position to win Premier Sports Cup Group E and reach the tournament's knockout phase. With two wins from two ties so far - and two still to come - the Edinburgh club are firm favourites to go through and will now be eyeing a seeding slot. The three group winners with the best records are seeded for the last 16 alongside Scotland's five European entrants. Premiership side Hearts will hope to earn that privilege following a comfortable 4-0 win over League One Accies. Stuart Findlay marked his debut for his new club with an early goal and Elton Kabangu doubled the advantage before half-time on the Broadwood Stadium astroturf. James Wilson added a third in the second half on what was a straightforward evening for those from Gorgie. Perhaps the most notable element of the match was substitute Claudio Braga's impact for the visitors. After setting up Wilson, the Portuguese forward scored the fourth amid a repertoire of flicks, tricks and direct attacks which captivated the travelling fans. Hamilton hosted Hearts at their temporary home in North Lanarkshire with two former Tynecastle players in their starting line-up - captain Scott Robinson and midfielder Connor Smith. Former Hibs striker Oli Shaw took the field in attack, while ex-Livingston, Motherwell and Ross County defender Ricky Lamie was one of two trialists playing for the home side. The other was former Rangers and Dundee United midfielder Charlie Telfer. Derek McInnes made seven changes to the Hearts team after Saturday's 4-1 victory over Dunfermline and switched from a 4-4-2 formation to a 3-5-2. Defender Stephen Kingsley missed out through illness, whilst goalkeeper Zander Clark, full-back Harry Milne and striker Lawrence Shankland were not risked from the start due to slight niggles. One of the changes saw Findlay make his Hearts debut on loan from Oxford United, and he made an immediate impact. From Blair Spittal's fifth-minute corner, the centre-back rose above Robinson at the back post to power a header beyond the Hamilton goalkeeper Jamie Smith. It was precisely the start the visitors wanted. The dominated most of the midfield exchanges, with Calem Nieuwenhof and Spittal both looking to break lines with forward passes when possible. Wilson broke Hamilton's defensive line after a clever backheel by Spittal on 36 minutes, but Kabangu stumbled in the act of shooting. The Belgian had another goal attempt blocked, as did Wilson, whilst Smith parried Spittal's effort as half-time approached. Hearts' hadn't fully capitalised on their first-half superiority and needed a more clinical edge. It arrived in stoppage-time before the interval. Christian Borchgrevink played a neat one-two with Alan Forrest and scampered towards the byline on the right to cross for Kabangu to tap home. Wilson enjoyed a similarly straightforward conversion on 69 minutes thanks to the panache of Hearts substitute Claudio Braga. The Portuguese gathered possession midway inside Hamilton's half and set off on a driving run through the opposition rearguard. His low cross found the Scottish teenager for a simple finish at the back post. Braga looked particularly delighted with his assist as he celebrated in front of the travelling support. Indeed, he was the undoubted star of the closing stages with a series of runs, tricks and flicks before etching his own name on the scoresheet. Fellow sub Harry Milne crossed from the left and Braga steadied himself inside the penalty area before his deflected shot evaded Smith en route to the net. Time for another good-natured celebration from a player who lacks nothing in character. He looked infinitely more comfortable as a central striker than in the wide-left role he filled against Dunfermline. Calem Nieuwenhof's midfield display was another major positive for McInnes, whose team now take on Stirling Albion and Dumbarton in their final two Group E games. Here are the Hearts player ratings from Broadwood: 1 . GK: Ryan Fulton 6/10 Took over from Zander Clark and wasn't tested greatly. Did what he needed to do with ease. | SNS Group Photo Sales 2 . RCB: Michael Steinwender 6/10 Composed on the right of the back three. Could have fed wing-back Borchgrevink quicker on a coule of occasions. | SNS Group Photo Sales 3 . CB: Frankie Kent 7/10 Marshalled the back three. His vocal influence could be heard from the back of the stand. | SNS Group Photo Sales 4 . LCB: Stuart Findlay 8/10 Scored a header minutes into his debut and was commanding all night in defence. | SNS Group Photo Sales

Odsonne Edouard to Celtic transfer message sent and received as Crystal Palace pitch comes with a warning

A return to Parkhead for the striker doesn't look realistic right now as Yamada edges closer and Abrosino fight is on Celtic have been told former hero Odsonne Edouard is set to become available this summer, writes Michael Gannon in Portugal. ‌ But the Hoops have been warned it would take serious cash to seal a Parkhead return for the striker. ‌ Edouard has been told he can leave Crystal Palace ahead of the new campaign despite having a year left on his contract. ‌ The 27-year-old was snapped up by the Premier League outfit for £14m in 2021 but has fallen out of the picture in recent times and spent a disappointing loan spell at Leicester City last term. Edouard is weighing up his options but there is interest from several clubs across the continent – with Celtic facing huge hurdles to have any hope of a reunion with Brendan Rodgers. The Hoops are closing in on a deal for Kawasaki Frontale frontman Shin Yamada – but face a fight to land Italian target Giuseppe Ambrosino. Yamada was an unused sub for Japan in last night's 1-0 win against Korea and is now expected to complete talks with the Scottish champions. But Napoli youngster Ambrosino is also being targeted by Serie A side Cremonese, who are making a move for the Italy under 21 ace. Celtic are chasing several targets including Antwerp wide man Michel-Ange Balikwisha and Cercle Brugge full back Flavio Nazinho. ‌ The Hoops have yet to make an official bid for the Portuguese under 21 cap but are expected to step up their interest. Nazinho came through the ranks at Sporting Lisbon – who Rodgers' men face in the Algarve on Wednesday night. ‌ The Hoops are set to ramp up their pre-season preparations against the Portuguese big guns. Full back Anthony Raltson – who got his first action of the summer in Saturday's clash with Estrela – said: 'It was nice to get my first minutes into the legs at the weekend and we've got another game coming up and we'll be ready for that. 'It's going to be a tough game but it's the games you want to play in to get yourself ready for the upcoming season. ‌ 'We've got a good run of training sessions so the gaffer and the coaching staff can implement the style of play they want played because not all seasons are the same. 'You need to adapt your game so there are things which have been fine-tuned and getting the boys back into the swing of things. 'And then there have been some new things added, which we've all had to get to grips with, and it's been very clear what we need to do. ‌ 'It's nice to get everyone back together, and on the pitch it's been hard work, it's been tough, the boys have been putting the work in and it was good to get the first minutes in the legs as well. Off the pitch, it's been nice to spend a bit of time together.' Meanwhile defender Lenny Agbaire has departed Celts to sign for Rotherham United. The 20-year-old spent last season on loan at Scott Brown's Ayr United and was a regular for the B team. But the centre back has left in a bid to secure first team football.

Major update on Celtic target Giuseppe Ambrosino's future as ‘Napoli schedule meeting with club to thrash out transfer'

GIUSEPPE AMBROSINO is edging closer to completing his Napoli exit. The Celtic transfer target has plenty of options on the table this summer as at least two Italian clubs are circling - along with Brendan Rodgers' side. SunSport understands the Hoops are closing in on a deal for Yamada, and the path has now cleared for a move to be finalised as he is no longer on international duty with Japan. But although the Hoops look set to land the Kawasaki Frontale hitman, the same can't be said for Ambrosino. The 21-year-old is closing in on a move to another club in Italy instead, according to reports in Italy. Advertisement Local Naples outlet Il Corriere del Mezzogiorno (via state that talks have progressed between Napoli and Cremonese for the striker. It's said Ambrosino is one of four players that Napoli boss Antonio Conte has made available for transfer and has told sporting director Giovanni Manna to find another club for him. It's believed that Cagliari and Celtic are two other clubs looking at him but Cremonese are now leading the race. It was reported last week that Cremonese had tested the Italian champions' resolve with a £2.5million bid. Advertisement There are no further details on the offer at this stage but the latest report claims that Napoli have scheduled a meeting with the fellow Serie A side this week to potentially thrash out a deal. It's believed the meeting will be held tomorrow and a deal could soon be finalised. Cremonese are also keen on another young Napoli forward as it's stated that Alessio Zerbin is on their radar too. The report suggests that the Italian side are looking to sign BOTH players and are not just looking at one of them. Advertisement Celtic, meanwhile, are looking at a loan with an option to buy with Ambrosino. Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page
