Aim for 2029 poll win, forestall YSRCP ‘misinformation campaign', Naidu tells TDP leaders

The Hindua day ago

TDP national president and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has called upon the party leaders and cadres to prepare for the 2029 elections from now itself, as otherwise, the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) would seize the opportunity to garner votes by waging a misinformation campaign, the kind of which it did effectively during 2014-19.
The good work done by the TDP during those years came to a naught as the people believed in the machinations of the YSRCP, which went on to set new benchmarks in corruption and push the State backward by 20 to 30 years through its regressive policies and distinct brand of vindictive politics, he said.
'We should not commit that mistake again. Each one of us should reach out to every household and explain what the coalition government did in the last one year in order to win their confidence,' he exhorted.
Addressing a meeting of the TDP MPs, including Union Ministers K. Rammohan Naidu and Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, State Ministers, MLAs and MLCs as part of the 'Suparipalana - Tholi Adugu' (The First Step in Good Governance) campaign on Sunday, Mr. Naidu said the NDA government in the State has done many good things in the last one year but the task of undoing the damage that had been done by the YSRCP during 2019-24 was far from over, as basically the public debt amounted to a staggering ₹10 lakh crore and the institutions that were undermined, had to be put back on the track one by one. The YSRCP was looking to mislead the people on what had been done by the coalition in the last one year, Mr. Naidu said.
Revival of Central aid
One conspicuous feature of the YSRCP regime was almost all the 95 Centrally-Sponsored Schemes (CSSs) becoming defunct during its term due to non-payment of the State's contribution, but the NDA government managed to revive 86 CSSs in spite of severe constraints.
Attempts to stall Central funding for the construction of the capital city Amaravati was another audacious thing done by the YSRCP with political motives. After thwarting those attempts, the coalition government could garner support for Amaravati in the form of ₹15,000 crore assistance from the World Bank and ADB.
Mr. Naidu said the TDP had done social re-engineering on the basis of caste and religion across the different regions and won the trust of voters, who gave the alliance (TDP - Jana Sena Party - BJP) a phenomenal strike rate of nearly 94% in the 2024 elections.
The YSRCP spent huge sums to win the elections but had to be content with just 11 seats as the people were vexed with its style of governance, whereas the TDP-led alliance offered a new hope of progress and peace. In the last one year, the NDA government maintained a fine balance between development and welfare, he observed.
The Chief Minister further said the YSRCP excelled in misleading people and it was evident from the manner in which the conspirators behind the Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy murder made the whole State believe that the death was due to a heart attack but they could not hide the facts forever. The 'kodi - kathi' incident and the alleged attempt to murder Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy by throwing a stone at him reflected his deceptive mindset.
Performance appraisal
Mr. Naidu told the party's elected representatives to be accessible to the people and that he was getting real-time updates of their performances, saying that only those working with true spirit of service to the people would be able to win in the 2029 elections.
He made it clear that he would not tolerate indiscipline and failure to fulfil the people's aspirations, while pointing out that he was pressing for the demonetisation of currency notes of ₹500 denomination.
It would help in curbing the menace of money power in elections to a large extent, he asserted, claiming that the TDP had always used the Central government support for development of the State, be it the crucial role played by it in the formation of the National Front or the United Front governments.

Health services in state are in ICU, says Akhilesh

Lucknow: Blood donation is the greatest gift, and by donating it voluntarily, we can help patients in need. It's good to donate blood on special occasions like a child's birthday, parents' anniversary, or your own wedding anniversary, said chief . Tired of too many ads? go ad free now He was speaking at a blood donation camp at KGMU on Monday, organised to mark his birthday on July 1. The camp was organised by members of the Maurya, Shakya, Kushwaha, and Saini communities, where 107 youth and party workers donated blood. Akhilesh praised the volunteers and called the event a true example of socialism and public service. Targeting the state govt, the former CM said, "Health services in Uttar Pradesh are in the ICU. Hospitals are in poor shape, and facilities exist only on paper. The poor are left to fend for themselves." He added that the medical infrastructure built during the SP govt is now being neglected. Praising KGMU, Yadav said the institution is among the most respected globally, with its doctors serving worldwide. "If the SP returns to power, we'll invest every possible resource to build world-class institutions and ensure the poor get proper treatment," he said. He also criticised the BJP-led govt over the state of business and industry, calling the situation an "economic emergency." He said that a major UP-based infrastructure firm was being sold, warning that privatisation is harming employment and economic growth. "If businesses thrive, jobs will grow, and the economy will strengthen," he said. On environmental issues, he alleged that the BJP failed to clean rivers despite large budgets. "They didn't clean rivers—they cleaned out the funds," he said, promising to beautify the Gomti riverfront and install a statue of freedom fighter Virangana Devi Paswan if the SP returns to power. He thanked the PDA (pichda, dalit, alpsankhyak) workers for organising the camp, urging that his birthday be celebrated as a day of service and social commitment.

Tribal protests, Union minister Shivraj Chouhan's push force MP government to halt proposed Sardar Patel Wildlife Sanctuary

BHOPAL: Massive protests by tribals accompanied by pressure by union agriculture minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has compelled the Dr Mohan Yadav-led Madhya Pradesh government to put on hold the process of creating Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Wildlife Sanctuary in Sehore district of the central Indian state. 'In pursuance with the directions from the government, the proposal to create the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Wildlife Sanctuary in parts of the Sehore Forest Division is put on hold. Entire process on the issue is put on hold till further orders,' principal chief conservator of forests (PCCF-Wildlife) Subhranjan Sen wrote to the DFO-Sehore on Monday. Importantly, the proposal to create the sanctuary in the Sehore Forest Division (which comes under the home district and parliamentary constituency of the current union agriculture minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan) was first mooted during the Congress government in the state, when the current Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar was the state's forest minister. Around six years later, in May 2025, the present BJP regime headed by Dr Mohan Yadav had set the ball rolling again on the issue, seeking a revised proposal from DFO-Sehore to create the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Wildlife Sanctuary. Just a month later, 50 houses of the tribal community were reportedly demolished by the forest department for removing encroachments from the Khivni Wildlife Sanctuary in the adjoining Dewas district on June 23. Four days later, massive protest by tribals was reported in Sehore district, where the local MP and union agriculture minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was attending a development meeting at the district collectorate. The tribal protestors, including men and women from Sehore and Dewas districts were protesting the June 23 demolition of houses and the proposed Sardar Vallabhbhai Wildlife Sanctuary, which they alleged would affect 2 lakh people in Sehore and Dewas districts.

Bihar: BJP's Sanjay Jaiswal claims

Gaya (Bihar) [India], June 30 (ANI): As the political heat intensifies in Bihar ahead of the forthcoming Assembly polls, BJP MP Sanjay Jaiswal claimed on Monday that 80% of people associated with Jan Suraaj Party are 'criminals'. Hitting back, Prashant Kishor questioned his intent, asking why they are not arresting these people despite being in power in both Bihar and the Centre. BJP MP Sanjay Jaiswal said, 'Prashant Kishor doesn't care about people. A person who killed a Dalit community is holding a board in Bettiah claiming to be a candidate of Prashant Kishor's Bettiah Legislative Assembly. 80% of his associates are criminals... You can't expect a good party from such individuals.' Replying to this, Jan Suraaj Chief Prashant Kishor asked the ruling BJP and NDA government to nab those 'criminals'. 'His government is currently ruling Bihar, and the BJP-NDA has the government in Delhi. So why have they let all criminals free? They are putting on their face by claiming that all the criminals in Bihar are connected to Jan Suraaj. If that is the case, then what are you doing? Catch those criminals and put them in jail. Are you taking money from them so that they can stay in Jan Suraaj?' Kishor said. Bihar elections are expected to be held later this year, in October or November; however, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has not announced an official date. While the NDA, comprising the BJP, JD(U), and LJP, will once again seek to continue its stint in Bihar, the INDIA bloc, comprising the RJD, Congress, and left parties, will aim to unseat Nitish Kumar. In the current Bihar Assembly, comprising 243 members, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) consists of 131 members, with the BJP having 80 MLAs, JD(U) having 45, HAM(S) having 4, and the support of 2 Independent Candidates. The Opposition's INDIA Bloc comprises 111 members, with the RJD leading with 77 MLAs, followed by the Congress with 19, the CPI(ML) with 11, the CPI(M) with 2, and the CPI with 2. (ANI)
