Three-day voter awareness rally flagged off in Buxar
The rally would be held under the SVEEP (Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation) programme, coinciding with World Bicycle Day and World Environment Day.
The aim of the rally is to raise awareness about the importance of voting and inspire citizens to participate in the democratic process without fear, said a district administration official.
On this occasion, DM also administered a pledge to the attendees, emphasising the need for free, fair, and peaceful elections. "Every vote counts, and every voter's participation strengthens our democracy," the DM said in his address.
The rally, led by local youth icon Abhiram Sundar, saw enthusiastic participation from young citizens and volunteers riding bicycles. As they traversed various parts of the city, they engaged with the public, spreading awareness through slogans such as "First vote, then refreshment" and "Voter awareness is the identity of a strong democracy".
Participants carried placards highlighting the significance of voting, while also promoting eco-friendly practices through the use of bicycles. The initiative skillfully blended the messages of democratic responsibility and environmental conservation.
The event was also attended by Buxar DDC Akash Choudhary, DPRO Saurav Alok, senior officials, NCC cadets and school students. All took a pledge to contribute to the success of the voter awareness campaign.

Dhami inaugurates model Sanskrit villages in all 13 Uttarakhand districts
Dehradun: Uttarakhand chief minister on Sunday inaugurated 13 Sanskrit villages — one in each district of the state — and announced a primary Sanskrit school in each. Sanskrit has been the state's second official language since 2010, with Uttarakhand being the first in the country to grant it that status. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now In 2022, the govt announced plans to develop a modern Sanskrit village in every district, where the language would eventually become the common tongue. State education minister Dhan Singh Rawat also announced that from next year, NCC and NSS will be introduced in Sanskrit schools, and shortages of teachers will be addressed. Trainers were appointed to Sanskrit villages in April this year. In Sanskrit villages, the language will be used not just in ceremonies but in daily conversations, festivals, rituals, and even on public signboards. The special instructors will train residents to communicate fluently in Sanskrit, encouraging them to recite shlokas from the Vedas, Puranas and Upanishads during rituals, and sing in Sanskrit during festivals. The initiative is inclusive, involving children from all backgrounds, including those from the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes, to foster social harmony. Villages may also adopt Sanskrit names for public spaces, with a gradual focus on building touristic appeal. The CM said each model village would see the construction of dedicated Sanskrit buildings and residents will be encouraged to use Sanskrit in daily life, making it part of everyday conversation, behaviour, and communication again. The Central Sanskrit University is providing trained instructors, and local committees are helping oversee curriculum and activities. Instructors undergo training at the Sanskrit Academy in Haridwar, and lessons cover shlokas, epics and Vedic texts, with plans to integrate AI and introduce signage in Sanskrit throughout the villages. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Special scholarships are being provided to promote Sanskrit in schools, and students excelling in the subject will be honoured under the Sanskrit Student Talent Award Scheme. To further boost the language, the Uttarakhand Sanskrit Academy in Haridwar is organising events such as the All-India Research Conference, the All-India Astrology Conference, and the All-India Veda Conference. Officials noted that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 seeks to make Sanskrit a modern, practical language, with universities being equipped with digital resources, e-learning platforms, and mobile apps. A Sanskrit vision statement, outlining the state's roadmap for promotion of the language in line with NEP, was unveiled on the occasion.

Patna DM writes to Bihar Deputy CM Sinha to submit his response on holding two EPIC IDs
The Patna District Magistrate (DM) on Sunday wrote to Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, asking him to explain why his name appears on two voter ID cards (EPIC) in different constituencies. The DM said Sinha's name is listed in the draft electoral rolls for two Assembly areas. One is Bankipur (Constituency No. 182), and the other is Lakhisarai (Constituency No. 168). Both voter lists were published during the Special Intensive Revision in 2025. The DM also noted that Sinha's name was on both lists even before this revision. 'Moreover, your name was found recorded at both places even prior to the Special Intensive Revision,' the DM added in his letter. The Deputy CM has been asked to submit his reply by 14 August. Live Events Earlier on Sunday, Vijay Kumar Sinha responded to RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav's claim that he holds two voter ID cards with different addresses and ages. He said that his whole family had voter IDs from Bankipur. In April 2024, he applied to add his name to the Lakhisarai constituency and to remove it from Bankipur. However, the removal did not happen immediately. He contacted the Booth Level Officer (BLO), filled out a form, and took a receipt as proof. Sinha explained that he voted only from Lakhisarai in the last election and will do so again. He also said the deletion form he submitted was rejected for some reason. After the draft voter list was published, he raised the issue with the Election Commission of India (ECI). The ECI has given a one-month correction window before the final voter list is published. Sinha said those questioning the Election Commission do not trust the Constitution and are spreading confusion, which harms democracy. He asked Tejashwi Yadav to apologise, calling his allegations false and damaging. 'This is their jungle raj, BJP does not play such games. I neither commit age fraud nor insult any constitutional body,' Sinha said. He added that the people of Bihar and the whole country know how the RJD leader tries to tarnish others and should apologise for the false accusations. Inputs from agencies
