Teenager dies in R24 crash near Barbara Road
A 17-year-old male died following a collision on the R24 West near the Barbara Road off-ramp on Saturday, July 26.
According to the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD), the crash occurred at around 18:00 and involved a blue Chevrolet and a white VW Polo.
EMPD Freeway Unit officers responded to the scene alongside emergency medical services.

'One of the passengers sustained serious injuries and was transported to Tambo Memorial Hospital for medical treatment,' the EMPD confirmed in a statement.
The teenager was declared dead at the scene by EMS paramedics.
The circumstances surrounding the crash are under investigation.

Vehicle recovered after Avoca hijacking
TRACKER SA and members of Marshall Security's Special Operations Team helped in the recovery of a Mercedes-Benz that was hijacked in Mill Road in Avoca on Saturday (July 26) at about 07:00. 'The victim was approached by four armed suspects wearing balaclavas and robbed of her vehicle. Team members then picked up on a signal and responded to KwaMashu A-Section, where the vehicle was recovered and found abandoned, in collaboration with Tracker's Ground Team and KwaMashu SAPS,' explained Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell. In a separate incident, also on Saturday (July 26), officers from Swift Private Security detained a suspect after a vehicle stolen last month was recovered on Peter Road in the Springfield Park area. 'At approximately 16:25, we were alerted by a vehicle tracking company to assist in locating a white VW Polo reported stolen last month from the Cornubia area. Our response team began tracking the vehicle using real-time location updates provided by the tracking company,' explained Swift Private Security spokesperson Sanveer Sooklall. 'With co-ordinated efforts the vehicle was successfully located, and one suspect was apprehended on the scene. Members of Greenwood Park SAPS arrived and took custody of the suspect and the recovered vehicle for further investigation and processing.' Investigation continues into André Naude's murder five weeks later

Police spokesperson, FC van Wyk, said: 'Kindly be advised that the matter you are referring to is still under investigation. There are no new developments to report to the media at this stage.' Naude was shot and killed in a hail of bullets on June 12 in Voortrekker Road, Parow. Police said he had been in the company of friends when he was ambushed by gunmen inside a vehicle. Naude, 55, died at the scene while a 61-year-old man was wounded and two others aged 45 and 55 were unharmed. IOL reported that at the weekend, two lives were lost during a shooting in Voortrekker Road in Parow. It is understood that a gunman in a silver VW Polo had opened fire.
