Disney undergoes huge shakeup amid Hulu merge as multiple shows are scrapped leaving fans furious
It's been an eventful year for Disney Plus viewers - and not necessarily in the best way. Disney recently announced that streaming service Hulu + Live TV would be integrated into Disney+ following the news of the merge made in a bid to give subscribers more content in one place. Instead, the changes - among others - seem to have more implications for people's favorite shows. As Disney restructures its streaming strategy, many fans have been left wondering if their shows will be renewed for another season. So far in 2025, Disney+ has only renewed four shows: The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder (season 4), Wizards Beyond Waverly Place (season 2), Percy Jackson and the Olympians (season 2), and Daredevil: Born Again (season 2). Everything else seems to be walking a fine line. And it's not necessarily just unpopular shows that have been scrapped - there have been a few high-profile picks that haven't survived another season. Extraordinary, the critically-praised supernatural comedy, has been axed before a third season. The historical mystery Shardlake, starring Sean Bean, also got the boot. But perhaps the most gutting blow for many came when Goosebumps was canceled after just two seasons. While based on R.L. Stine's beloved books, Disney pulled the plug - though Sony Pictures Television is reportedly shopping it to other platforms. And fans were not pleased at the slew of changes. 'I hope Extraordinary gets picked up by another streaming service because holy shit I'm so upset they cancelled the renewal. Disney made a big mistake,' one fan shared. 'Why cancel a show with nostalgia value when half the platform is filled with forgettable reboots?' one X (formerly Twitter) user asked. 'Disney is where properties go to die,' another said. The patterns around the cancellations aren't random. While these shows may have been popular and growing fan bases, it seems as though Disney is axing anything that doesn't deliver immediate, metric-based success. So if a show has slower audience growth - even if it has a strong fan base - it could be vulnerable. It was reported that between 2020 and 2023, Disney canceled a larger percentage of its series than competitors like Netflix or Max. Usually these kinds of cuts happen after just one or two seasons, before a story has a chance to gain momentum. Doogie Kameāloha, M.D. and The Mysterious Benedict Society were all canceled after just one of two seasons in 2023, despite growing interest in the shows. It seems as though Disney is 'tightening its belt' after costly acquisitions like 20th Century Fox. This includes not only canceling shows, but getting rid of some titles from the platform completely. But all hope is not lost for Disney fans. Some of the shows that were canceled - like Goosebumps - are being pitched to other streamers and networks that could potentially give them a second life. And Disney's platform itself hasn't stopped rolling out new content despite the cancellations. Disney is still rolling out new titles like Eyes of Wakanda and Raising Asia. Though, it's unclear yet whether these shows will survive the platform's seemingly strict decision-making.

Alien: Earth cast spill on 'sweetest vegan' cast as horror series' new Xenomorph
Alien: Earth cast lift lid on 'sweetest vegan in the world' cast as sci-fi horror's new Xenomorph The cast of the new Alien TV series, Alien: Earth, have admitted that they couldn't help but giggle at the man inside the iconic Xenomorph suit on set The cast of Alien: Earth have disclosed that the performer behind the legendary Xenomorph costume was far from menacing when the cameras stopped rolling. Crafted by acclaimed Fargo creator Noah Hawley, this fresh FX series launches this week on Disney+ across the UK, functioning as a prequel to Ridley Scott's 1979 science fiction horror masterpiece. The show's diverse ensemble features both emerging talent and established performers, including Timothy Olyphant, Sydney Chandler, Alex Lawther and Babou Ceesay. Naturally, no instalment in the Alien saga would be complete without the spine-chilling extraterrestrial creatures, and Hawley has stressed a commitment to authentic practical effects to deliver the terror. During a preview at Alien: Earth's London premiere, the cast disclosed that performer Cameron Brown was predominantly housed within the classic dark costume that has been petrifying audiences for more than four decades, reports the Mirror. The terrifying sci-fi horror franchise returns this week (Image: FX) "It was Cameron Brown, who's a vegan," Ceesay revealed. "Dressed in an eight-foot suit. "Snarling in your face, K-Y jelly dripping out of his mouth. Yeah, scary." Nevertheless, Ceesay and his fellow cast members couldn't suppress their laughter whilst fondly recalling their experiences with Brown during filming. Lawther remarked: "It's really easy to run away scared from a Xenomorph when it's really a man who's a Xenomorph chasing you." The performers also disclosed that their alien-costumed colleague would regularly pause for snacks of carrot sticks and hummus, creating a sharp contrast to his carnivorous on-screen character. During a panel discussion at Comic-Con's Hall H, lead actress Chandler previously confessed she was "giddy" to be pursued by a Xenomorph, describing Brown as "the sweetest person in the world", according to GoldDerby. Lawther concurred at the time: "There's something hysterical about the fearsomeness of the Xenomorph, but then he takes off his head, and he's from New Zealand, and he doesn't eat meat. "If you think me and Sydney are soft-spoken, just wait till you meet the Xenomorph." Devoted enthusiasts of the original film by director Ridley Scott, along with its later sequels, will be delighted to learn that Hawley utilised practical effects and sets wherever possible. Expanding on the benefits of practical techniques over CGI, he said: "I think it's meaningful, both to the cast and, I think audiences know when something's real or not real. "We've gotten very good at tricking them, but, usually, what you need is some realistic element in the shot. "The thing with horror is your imagination does most of the work for you, so you don't want to see the monster for too long. You want to see the shadows, you want to see the open door. "The shot is half a second and you've got a tail on a fishing line and that's probably gonna work, you know what I mean?" Critics are claiming the Alien franchise is stronger than ever with the fresh TV prequel, but will it convince fans who believe the Xenomorphs should have remained in space? Find out soon. This Is M&S' Most-Awaited Dress Ever – And It's Already Selling Fast
It was back in 2022 that Valentino debuted a saturated pink catwalk filled with bright pink monochromatic looks, and in one fell swoop, laid the groundwork for how we wear (and style) the saccharine shade. Then in 2023, Greta Gerwig's Barbie brought the colour off the runway on everyone from Margot Robbie and Zendaya on the red carpets to our favourite influencers and fashion editors around the city. Fast forward to now, and the playful shade hasn't exactly lost its hype. So, when Marks & Spencer quietly launched its Belted Midaxi Waisted Dress last week – a dress that I'm certain would've had a cameo in the Barbie movie if it had been released two years earlier – I knew it was a style I needed to get my hands on. M&S' pink marvel isn't just interesting because of its colour, either, even if the search for 'Marks and Spencer pink dress' is up by 180% this month. The dress has a double-belted waist that creates definition without feeling too tight, and the midaxi hemline offers that in-between length that just works with almost any shoe. Still, it was the colour of the dress that originally caught our attention, as the pink is bright enough to make a statement yet somehow feels subtle. For those who prefer something more understated, the dress is also available in black, which is a timeless option that only draws even more attention to the frock's chic silhouette. M&S, Belted Midaxi Waisted Dress - Medium Pink M&S' Belted Midaxi Waisted Dress has everything you'd want from the perfect pink dress. Designed in a flattering regular fit, the dress features a simple rounded neck, as well as a double-belt cinched waist detailing around the middle. If you do want to get your hands on the dress, you're going to have to act fast, as some sizes are already sold out. Naturally, the pink iteration lends itself to a more playful way of styling, whether you choose to pair it with a neutral kitten heel or go all out with metallic accessories. Pink might get a bad rep, but it's actually easier to style than you might first think, particularly if you're a sucker for a black accessory, or tan sandals. The black version would suit a more laid-back way of dressing – for example, with ankle boots and a trench coat when the temperature drops, or with strappy sandals and a raffia tote in the summer. M&S has long been teasing its Belted Midaxi Waisted Dress on Instagram and showcasing it in stores for weeks – long enough for the Grazia desk to (somewhat heavily) speculate about its online release date. Now that it's finally here, it's proving to be incredibly popular, with multiple sizes of the dress already sold out, and we can see why. In pink, it's a reminder that a pop of colour can still be chic, and in black, it's a masterclass in timeless dressing. My advice? This isn't a wait-until-payday purchase, it's a secure-before-your-size-vanishes purchase (don't learn this the hard way). M&S, Belted Midaxi Waisted Dress - Black M&S' highly-awaited dress is also available in a versatile black colour. With the same round neck and double-belted detailing, style with a pair of white socks and black chunky loafers, or with a pair of Havaianas. Free People, Marbella Midi Free People's pink dress is more bubblegum pink than Barbie pink, but it's still just as sweet. Designed with retro-inspired charm, its Marbella Midi dress features a corset-esque bodice, A-line skirt and striped jacquard fabrication. House of CB, Cindy Cut-Out Woven Midi Dress House of CB also hopped on the pink trend with its Cindy dress. With a fitted bodice and straight neckline, as well as a full skirt, it's similar to the M&S style, and comes in an aptly named shade 'ballerina pink.' Nobody's Child, Sleeveless Starlight Midi Dress The Nobody's Child take on a pink midi dress is in a lighter baby pink and is finished with glorious details, like two side pockets, a buttoned-down front and a V-neck. Finish the look with fuchsia accessories for a pop of colour, or tan sandals. Revolve, Mirelle Linen Maxi Dress Price: $219 Revolve's pink offering comes in the form of its Mirelle dress. Made from a comfortable linen-cotton blend, the dress features a partially-lined bodice, self-tie shoulder straps and back zipper closure. It's most definitely a dress you can wear to a wedding, but also to a garden or dinner party too. ASOS Design, Sleeveless Drop Waist Maxi Dress Price: $45 ASOS' pink midi dress is a good one if you're on the hunt for a dress that can do it all. Heading to a wedding? Style with heels and a clutch bag. Off to dinner? Pair with ballet flats and chunky bangles. Or on your way into the office? Throw a boxy tee over the top and a pair of loafers.
