York police investigating after rabbit shot on front lawn of Newmarket home

Police are investigating after a rabbit was shot on the front lawn of a home in Newmarket, Ont., on Sunday.
Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the area of Glenway Circle and Eagle Street W. in Newmarket shortly after 11 a.m. on Sunday, York police said in a release Tuesday.
A homeowner told officers that they discovered a rabbit had been shot in their front yard, police said.
Police said video surveillance shows that a white Ford F-150 pickup truck stopped in front of the residence at 6 a.m. Sunday. A suspect leaned out the back of the window and fired a shot at the rabbit, striking and killing it.
"It is incredibly concerning that someone would be firing a firearm in a residential area, killing a rabbit for no reason," said Const. James Dickson in an email to CBC Toronto.
Officers are asking anyone with additional surveillance or dashcam video from the area to contact York police or Crime Stoppers.
