Jitendra Kumar And Ravi Kishan Join Mirzapur: The Film Cast
The world of Mirzapur is about to get even bigger. While fans were already buzzing about seeing Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, and Divyenndu reprise their iconic roles on the big screen, we've exclusively learned that Jitendra Kumar and Ravi Kishan have also come aboard the highly anticipated film adaptation of the hit web series.
Although the makers are keeping the nature of their roles under tight wraps, the excitement is palpable — will these new additions be portraying familiar faces from the Mirzapur universe, or are brand-new, game-changing characters about to be unleashed?
A source close to the project told HTCity, 'Jitendra and Ravi Kishan have joined the cast of the film. The mahurat puja took place on Thursday, and both were present at the celebrations. Their characters are being kept as a big surprise for the fans."
The insider also revealed that pre-production is in full swing. 'The look tests and reading sessions of the cast have already started and will continue for the next few days. Jitendra and Ravi have also joined the pre-production work. The film will go on floors next month," the source added.
While Ravi Kishan politely declined to comment, efforts to reach Jitendra for confirmation yielded no response.
About Mirzapur: The Film
Announced in 2024, the film promises to reunite the OG trio — Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, and Divyenndu — in a theatrical spectacle. Created by Puneet Krishna and directed by Gurmmeet Singh, the film is slated for a 2026 release in cinemas across India before making its way to OTT. Shweta Tripathi is also expected to return as Golu.
In an earlier interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ali Fazal teased that the film would take fans back in time. 'We are very excited. It is the OG cast and we are going at the back of the table. Back in time, I suppose. It has to be back in time because there are like some dead people walking," he said. When asked if this meant a prequel, Ali coyly replied, 'You will find out. But we are really excited to bring it to the theatres. Peaky Blinders also did that. It wasn't like a one-off or an odd choice of move."
With the return of fan-favourite characters, the promise of new surprises, and a theatrical scale to match Mirzapur's gritty legacy, the stage is set for one of the most talked-about releases of 2026.

CM Yogi leads Janmashtami rituals at Gorakhnath
Gorakhpur : The sacred festival of Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated with traditional fervour and devotion at the Gorakhnath Temple in the presence of Chief Minister and Gorakshapeethadhishwar Yogi Adityanath . Arriving from Lucknow late on Saturday night, the CM led the midnight rituals marking the divine appearance of Lord Krishna. At the temple, the CM first paid homage at Guru Gorakhnath's shrine and bowed before the samadhi of his spiritual guru, Mahant Avaidyanath. The festivities began with soulful bhajans at the Mahant Digvijayanath Smriti auditorium, where children dressed as Radha and Krishna added a colourful and festive charm to the atmosphere. The CM interacted warmly with them, showering affection, sharing light-hearted moments, and presenting toys and chocolates. As the clock struck midnight, the temple premises echoed with the sounds of conch shells, bells, and devotional chants. CM Yogi carried the idol of infant Krishna from the sanctum sanctorum and placed him in a floral cradle. He then performed the ceremonial jhulan (swing ritual), followed by the traditional aarti and the joyous singing of 'Nand Ghar Anand Bhayo' and other hymns. The event witnessed the participation of prominent personalities, including Gorakhpur MP Ravi Kishan, MP Vijay Dubey, BJP MLC Dharmendra Singh, and saints from Ayodhya and Varanasi. Thousands of devotees thronged the temple, offering prayers and witnessing the rituals. Competitions in Krishna–Radha attire drew enthusiastic participation, with prizes awarded to children across different categories. A devotional evening of bhajans, led by noted folk singer Rakesh Srivastava and his troupe, captivated the gathering with traditional renditions of sohar and other folk hymns, adding to the spiritual fervour of the occasion. During the celebration at the temple, MP Ravi Kishan sang bhajans and broke into an impromptu dance during the evening programme. Nandotsav rituals mark Lord Krishnas birth at temples in Mathura, Vrindavan
Mathura (UP), Aug 17 (PTI) Temples in Mathura and Vrindavan on Sunday reverberated with festivities as they celebrated Nandotsav, a celebration marking the joy on Lord Krishna's birth held a day after Janmashtami. Gyanendra Kishor Goswami, a priest at the Banke Bihari temple in Vrindavan, said expressions of joy form an integral part of devotion in the Brijbhoomi. 'A mixture of curd and turmeric is used to symbolise infant Krishna's mischief. In a ritual known as 'dadhikandha', this mixture is playfully thrown on the devotees," Goswami said. During the celebrations, toys, clothes, jewellery and money were flung from the sanctum sanctorum for the devotees to collect as 'prasad', a tradition commemorating Nand Baba's delight at Lord Krishna's birth, he added. Earlier in the day, a 'Mangl Aarti' was performed at the Banke Bihari temple after the ceremonial 'Mahaabhishek'. At the Shri Krishna Janmasthan in Mathura, the Bhagwat Bhavan was decorated as Nand Bhawan, which echoed with chants of 'Nand ghar anand bhayo, jai Kanhaiya Lal ki' along with devotional songs. Kapil Sharma, secretary of the Shri Krishna Janmasthan Seva Sansthan, said toys, clothes, sweets and utensils were distributed among the devotees as prasad. Similar rituals were held at Vrindavan's Sapt Devalaya. At the Dwarkadhish temple, the deities were adorned as Nand Baba and Ma Yashoda. 'The festival reflects the joy of Krishna's parents at his birth. Items are distributed to the devotees on this occasion to share the happiness," Rakesh Tiwari, the temple's media and legal advisor, said. Last Updated: Crathie Kirk is the Royal Family's usual place of worship when they stay at Balmoral. The King and Queen are in Scotland for their yearly holiday. King Charles and Queen Camilla were pictured at Balmoral for the first time this summer, with the King driving her to a church service on Sunday. The Queen sat beside him in the passenger seat as they went to Crathie Kirk church, which is near the castle. Charles looked relaxed as he waved to people while driving his Audi Q8 e-tron electric SUV to the service. Camilla smiled as she joined him in greeting the public and photographers. The King and Queen dressed smartly for the Sunday service. King Charles, 76, wore a camel coat over his usual suit and tie. Queen Camilla wore a stylish hat with green and black feathers that matched her outfit, GB News reported. Crathie Kirk is the Royal Family's usual place of worship when they stay at Balmoral. The King and Queen are in Scotland for their yearly holiday. The trip usually starts in August, but Charles's holiday was delayed because he was leading the Victory over Japan Day commemorations. VJ Day, observed on August 15, marks the end of World War Two worldwide. On Friday, the King and Queen attended a ceremony at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire to mark the day. They were joined by Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, members of VJ associations, military personnel, and senior politicians for the national remembrance service. The King laid a wreath in honour of those who died and held a two-minute silence. While at the event, Camilla was moved to tears when a 105-year-old war veteran paid tribute to Charles in his speech. Yavar Abbas saluted 'my brave king" as he added a personal message. He spoke directly to King Charles and praised him for attending despite his ongoing cancer treatment. The veteran also said that the King's late grandfather, King George VI, would have been proud of him. King George VI, who was Queen Elizabeth II's father, struggled with lung cancer for years before passing away in 1952. view comments First Published: August 17, 2025, 22:57 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
