How to avoid falling for a Man Child on the dating scene & the tell-tale sign you're already seeing one without knowing

THE dating world is hard to navigate as it is, with more apps than anyone could know what to do with, ghosting, red flags and more.
Now, the term 'Man Child' has been thrown in there too, as Sabrina Carpenter's latest single has singletons calling out their ex flames.

The term describes a man who acts like a child in a relationship, or just in general.
That includes emotionally immature men who can't, or won't, give their partner support.
They might be immature, unreliable and irresponsible, leaving you to pick up their slack - the last thing you want in a long term commitment.
Luckily, dating app Hily relationship expert Dr. Marisa T. Cohen, PhD, shared with the Daily Mail the tell-tale signs to be on the lookout for if you're either trying to avoid dating a Man Child, or wondering if you're already seeing one.
According to the pro, one easy way to figure out a person's emotional maturity is to pay attention to how they handle conflict in different areas of their life.
'Their answer can tell you a lot — like if they're self-aware, whether they stick it out when things get rough, and how well they keep their cool (or not)," Marisa explained.
Another indicator if a potential lover is a Man Child or not is if they did the work on themselves by going to therapy and learning skills to regulate their emotions.
'You'll get a sense of what they need, how they handle things, and maybe even how they deal with stress or think about mental health,' the expert explained.
Another good was is to ask your potential suitor what they're most proud of in their life.
This way, the pro explained, you can hear about their big wins and how they "handled any curveballs along the way."
Love Island fans call Islander a 'red flag' as he makes shock dating admission
It's pretty normal to talk about past relationships when getting to know someone you might be romantically interested in, but avoiding basic questions is the key to really getting to know someone.
Instead of asking when their last relationship was, for example, the dating pro suggested asking what they learned from it.
'Basically, you're seeing if they've taken time to reflect, process the ups and downs, and figure out how to do better next time,' the expert said.
According to VeryWellMind, if your man doesn't help around the house you should be on high alert.
"If asked to help with chores, an immature person might respond petulantly.
"They might need to be bribed or demand compensation for performing tasks that are simply a routine part of keeping a home and functioning as a responsible adult."
Not only that, put their partner might need to remind them to shower, brush their teeth and perform basic hygiene tasks.
If a man is acting like Peter Pan, you could easily fall into the trap of being his Wendy, meaning you could end up unconsciously encouraging his behaviour by acting like his mum.
You might even enjoy being able to comfort and look after him in the early days of the relationship, the pros noted.
"Initially, you might have felt attracted to and enjoyed these aspects of your partner's personality.
"As your relationship progressed (perhaps even to marriage), however, you might have become exhausted by, or even resentful of, your partner's immature behaviour."

Sabrina Carpenter in sassy comeback amid 'over-sexual' album cover backlash

Pop singer Sabrina Carpenter has finally broken her silence after sending the internet into a frenzy over the controversial cover art for her upcoming album Man's Best Friend Sabrina Carpenter has finally shared her thoughts on the backlash she received after revealing the album artwork for her new project Man's Best Friend. Sabrina shared the album cover on June 12, posting two images, one of a dog wearing a collar which reads Man's Best Friend and the second shows the pop star on her hands and knees, as a mysterious figure standing over her is seen pulling her hair. ‌ Instantly, the commentary around the album artwork began online, as people dissected what the deeper meaning is behind this sort of imagery and what effect this could have on other women. ‌ One TikToker shared their views about the controversial cover, saying: "I'm excited to hear the music! Just not so keen on the cover. Seeing this alongside the Sydney Sweeney stuff and Bonnie Blue's petting zoo, I just really have to question what on earth is going on at the moment." READ MORE: Sabrina Carpenter slammed by domestic violence charity as she defends sexy image Another commented, writing: "I feel like the undertone of violence in this cover is so triggering," while someone else shared that they felt the pop star was "hypersexualising herself for the male gaze" and, as a result, "setting us so far back". It sparked an interesting conversation online around 'choice feminism' and female sexuality. After five days of discourse, Sabrina clapped back at the fury online with couple of quick-witted posts. In response to a post on X that read "Does she have a personality outside of sex?", the ex-Disney star wrote: "girl yes and it is goooooood." The album cover reveal came with the release of her first single from the new project, titled 'Manchild' in what many believe is a dig at her ex Barry Keoghan. The song caused quite a stir but went straight to number one. An account called Chart Data shared some stats about Manchild, confirming its success, writing: "Manchild is the first new solo #1 hit on the Hot 100 by a female artist since Please Please Please. Both by Sabrina Carpenter. In response to her success and seemingly the backlash the song faced, Sabrina simply wrote: "I had a funny response, but I'm just going to say thank you <3." In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Sabrina went into more detail about the constant flood of comments she receives about her sexualisation after receiving backlash from her racy performances on tour. She said: "They're like, 'All she does is sing about this.' But those are the songs that you've made popular. Clearly you love sex. "You're obsessed with it," she continued. "It's in my show. There are so many more moments than the 'Juno' positions, but those are the ones you post every night and comment on. I can't control that."

Sabrina Carpenter slams criticism of her raunchy new album cover featuring the star in a shocking pose

Sabrina Carpenter divided audiences with the new controversial cover for her upcoming seventh studio album Man's Best Friend - dropping August 29 - which features her provocatively kneeling beside a suited man with a fistful of her hair. So when X user @esotericsoul777 asked 'Does she have a personality outside of sex?' the 26-year-old pop star replied on Monday: 'Girl yes and it is goooooood.' Sabrina has also received criticism for the simulated sex positions she demonstrates onstage while performing her song Juno during her Short n' Sweet Tour. 'It's always so funny to me when people complain,' Carpenter told Rolling Stone last Thursday. 'They're like, "All she does is sing about this." But those are the songs that you've made popular. Clearly you love sex. You're obsessed with it. It's in my show.' The two-time Grammy winner continued: 'There's so many more moments than the Juno positions, but those are the ones you post every night and comment on. I can't control that. If you come to the show, you'll [also] hear the ballads, you'll hear the more introspective numbers' 'I find irony and humor in all of that, because it seems to be a recurring theme. I'm not upset about it, other than I feel mad pressure to be funny sometimes,' Sabrina noted. On Monday, Carpenter celebrated her new single Manchild debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. 'I love ya @jackantonoff @amyallen!' the Versace brand ambassador - who boasts 105.3M social media followers - thanked her co-producers. 'I can't tell you how much this means to me! This song makes me so happy. Thank you eternally for listening.' Sabrina's previous single Please Please Please also reached the No. 1 spot, while her single Taste peaked at No. 2 and Espresso peaked at No. 3. Carpenter is next scheduled to resume her $33.2M-grossing, 72-date Short n' Sweet Tour on July 5-6 at Hyde Park in London. Carpenter told Rolling Stone last Thursday: 'It's always so funny to me when people complain. They're like, "All she does is sing about this." But those are the songs that you've made popular. Clearly you love sex. You're obsessed with it. It's in my show' (pictured in November) The two-time Grammy winner continued: 'There's so many more moments than the Juno positions, but those are the ones you post every night and comment on. I can't control that. If you come to the show, you'll [also] hear the ballads, you'll hear the more introspective numbers' (pictured May 5) The Pennsylvania-born blonde bombshell has been a singer for the last decade, but her career got a major boost in 2023 while serving opening duties for Taylor Swift. Sabrina - who gets 68.7M monthly listeners on Spotify - originally taught herself how to play piano and guitar with YouTube tutorials. Carpenter had a nepo-baby leg up in the industry thanks to her famous aunt Nancy Cartwright, who has been the voice of 10-year-old troublemaker Bart Simpson since 1987 on The Tracey Ullman Show followed by Fox's long-running animated sitcom The Simpsons.

Will Smith reveals he turned down HUGE role in one of the greatest films of all time for box office flop Wild Wild West

Fans were left in shock after Will Smith revealed he turned down a role in one of the greatest science fiction movies of all time for his box office flop Wild Wild West. The American actor, 56, appeared as a guest on KISS XTRA radio on Saturday and discussed with Craig Mitch the movies he wished he had never turned down. Kicking off the interview, Craig asked the star: 'I don't know if you can confirm it that you turned down The Matrix to do Wild Wild West?' Smiling, Will replied: 'That was one of my beautiful scars!' and the pair broke out into a fit of laughter. Action-comedy Wild Wild West co-starred Kevin Kline, Kenneth Branagh and Salma Hayek and was a critical and commercial disappointment. It grossed $222.1 million worldwide against a $170 million budget. In contrast, The Matrix - starring Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss - grossed over $463 million worldwide on a $63 million budget. Yet that wasn't Will's only bad decision. Craig, who was intrigued to know more, then asked: 'Are there any other movie roles that you've, you know, turned down?' Will then shockingly revealed that British-American filmmaker Christopher Nolan brought the action/ sci-fi movie Inception to him first. Inception, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Michael Caine and Tom Hardy, was the fourth-highest-grossing film of 2010, making over $837 million. Will said: 'I can't it hurts too bad!' as Craig cut in, laughing: 'Oh, you don't even want to revisit it!' Will added: 'It hurts too bad. I don't think I've ever even said it publicly before... gonna say it now because we're opening up to one another. Chris Nolan brought me Inception first, and I didn't get it.' Appearing lost for words, Craig said: 'Wow! That's never been said before?' and Will confirmed: 'I've never said that out loud.' 'And now that I think about it, It's those movies that go into those alternate realities they don't pitch well. He confessed: 'But I'm hurt by those two...I'm hurt by those two.' Radio presenter Craig Mitch, who was intrigued to know more, then asked: 'Are there any other movie roles that you've, you know, turned down?' and Will confessed it was Inception Inception was the fourth-highest-grossing film of 2010, making over $837 million (Christopher Nolan, Leonardo DiCaprio and Marion Cotillard pictured in the film) Following his radio appearance, fans took to X, formerly Twitter, to share their opinions - and many were divided as some praised Will for turning down the movie while others were shocked he would do such a thing. One user shared a meme as he wrote: 'Reading about Will Smith turning down Inception because he didn't understand it and also The Matrix because he didn't understand it.'; 'When Christopher Nolan asks you to be in one of his movies you don't say no. You just say yes no questions asked because it will all make sense later.'; 'I can kinda understand turning down the Matrix because the Wachowskis were fairly unproven at the time and the concept was wild at the time. But Nolan was proven at the time. You just say "Yes."' While another defended Will's choice to turn it down, saying: 'Well Inception is one of the worst movies ever made so I'm happy for Will he skipped it. Totally drivol made for people who never had a creative thought in their life or watched any art house films to go have their "minds blown".'
