Tanishk Bagchi SLAMS Bollywood for hugely underpaying musicians: 'Even Ed Sheeran doesn't have the numbers I've clocked in...'

Composer, lyricist and singer
recently reveals if artists benefit from the music they have created. He also drew comparisons between Ed Sheeran and him.
Frustration Over Musicians' Lack of Recognition
When asked whether musicians earn from the songs they create, Tanishk expressed frustration over how low composers rank in the industry's hierarchy in his chat with Bollywood Bubble.

He explained that even when a song becomes a massive hit, credit usually goes to the singers like
or
, or sometimes to composers like
or himself. However, the first recognition often goes to the actors featured in the video, as audiences typically associate songs with the visuals. He also pointed out that lyricists, in particular, are rarely acknowledged at all.
Unrecognized Lyricists:
,
, and
Tanishk Bagchi went on to highlight how even well-established lyricists like Sayeed Quadri and Kausar Munir often go unrecognized by the general public, despite having written some of Bollywood's most popular songs.
He shared how, in conversations, many people are unaware of their work until he points out hit tracks like 'Tune Maari Entry,' 'Galliyan,' or 'Tera Ban Jaunga,' which were penned by these writers. He added that even someone as respected as Irshad Kamil faces this issue, noting that while lyricists may be content with their work, many remain unfamiliar with how to promote themselves or navigate publicity.
PR Responsibilities Shouldn't Fall on Musicians
Tanishk Bagchi further emphasized that veteran lyricist Irshad Kamil is only now starting to explore public relations, but ideally, he shouldn't have to—such responsibilities should fall on the production companies.
He pointed out how musicians are rarely given proper visibility during a film's launch, and even in solo projects, names like his are often forgotten. What's more disheartening, he said, is that even a small credit for the lyricist doesn't find space on promotional posters. Despite feeling the system is unfair, he admitted that artists continue to work quietly, as speaking out could cost them the opportunities they already have.

The Struggle for Recognition Despite Success
He concluded by expressing his frustration that despite the hard work musicians put into creating songs for films, they don't receive the recognition they deserve. He explained how every time, they have to start over and rebuild their reputation from scratch. Reflecting on his own success, he pointed out that he's written so many songs with billions of views, surpassing even Ed Sheeran's numbers over the last five years.
However, he questioned why, despite this success, he still hasn't achieved the level of recognition that global artists like Ed Sheeran have. The issue, he believes, lies in the lack of proper acknowledgment for musicians in the industry.

Mohit Suri recalls time when Tanishk Bagchi asked him to leave the recording room: 'He practically told me to get out'

Director Mohit Suri , who is currently awaiting the release of his film ' Saiyaara' , recently shared a light-hearted incident from the music recording sessions. In a chat with IANS, the director recalled the time when music composer Tanishk Bagchi asked him to leave the recording room. Talking about working with debut singers, Faheem Abdullah and Arslan Nizami from Kashmir, Suri said, 'The recording and jamming sessions used to be very serious till the time I was there. After that, what did they do? I don't know. They asked me to leave the recording session. Then I just realised the fun part started after that". The director remembered that while they were all in the room, Tanishk looked at him and said, 'Sir, please leave now.' Mohit laughed and said, 'He practically told me to get out.' He went on to explain that Tanishk knew the singers were trying to impress him without giving their best. Though strict with them, Tanishk was also protecting the singers and helping them improve. Mohit added, 'All throughout he was like, 'No, no, no. sir, let them dub in their hometown only because they are in their comfort zone. Or else they will get scared'. That was such a sweet thing. He was like a father who was holding and protecting them. I am not very interfering but a very curious director who wants to be everywhere. I was told to get out by Tanishk". 'He is a musical genius. He knows how to do it the best. And the one thing I know is in music, it's the idea that's the genius", he concluded. The film 'Saiyaara' will hit theatres on July 18, 2025. 'All those TikToks, but can't lip-sync properly': Addison Rae slammed for awkward lip-sync fail during Diet Pepsi live performance

Addison Rae is one of the few TikTok stars who've successfully crossed over into mainstream fame, and her recently released self-titled album, Addison, marks a major step in that journey. While the project has been gaining traction, a viral video of her performing—some say lip-syncing—her pre-released track, Diet Pepsi, has sparked online criticism, despite the song's massive popularity. Addison Rae dragged for lip-sync fail at Spotify event The video, dated June 6, shows Addison performing Diet Pepsi live at her Spotify event in New York City. Dressed in a white knotted crop top and denim shorts, she leaned into her playful side, teasing the crowd with a flirty performance. While the vibe was fun and on-brand, some fans took issue with what appeared to be lip-syncing—or rather, not syncing at all. Live vocals weren't even expected, but the mismatch still left viewers calling it unprofessional. The video has since gone viral on X (formerly Twitter), racking up over 10 million views. Many users have slammed the 24-year-old for not even doing 'the bare minimum' during a performance that marks the beginning of her music career. Addison Rae performing 'Diet Pepsi' tonight at her spotify event in NYC! One comment that gained traction summed up the frustration many viewers felt: "So singing in your head voice the entire time is talent? I can't hear her SING. Literally just sing with your chest, please, so I can hear what you sound like." The user went on to criticise the technique, arguing that relying solely on head voice isn't exactly impressive: "It's not impressive because it's actually so easy to sing in your head voice, way easier to control than your chest voice. head voice is shower singing lmao." Another user chimed in, pointing out how far the conversation has strayed from Addison's origins—and not in a flattering way: "Crazy all of this stemmed from her doing dancing TikToks and not giving credit.' "She can't even lip-sync too… Oh lord," a third user wrote, while a fourth added, "She's not even trying to pretend she's singing live." One person simply wrote, "All those TikToks, but she can't lip-sync properly????" Addison Rae scores surprising praise with Pitchfork 8.0 rating Meanwhile, Pitchfork awarded Addison Rae's new album a solid 8.0, calling it 'a very good debut' with thoughtful pop craftsmanship. Fans have been echoing the praise, noting Rae's genuine effort and artistic vision. Pitchfork gives 'Addison' by Addison Rae a score of 8.0/10. Ed Sheeran praises Addison Rae's album: 'She's a superb pop star' On June 7, Ed Sheeran gave Addison Rae a major co-sign while spinning her vinyl in an Instagram reel posted to his account, @teddysvinylbreakfast. 'So, I've got Addison Rae's album. I've been listening to her for a while,' he said, holding up the record. 'My friend Elvira, who works very closely with me on my records, did most of this album. It is bloody fantastic. I think Addison is a superb pop star. And yeah, 'Diet Pepsi' was my favourite one.' Ed Sheeran urges fans to check out Addison Rae's debut album:'It is bloody fantastic. I think Addison is a superb pop star.' He wrapped up with a casual shoutout: 'If you haven't checked out the record, go check it out.'

Deepshikha Nagpal recalls simplicity of Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan on sets: ‘Everybody wants vanity vans today'

Actress Deepshikha Nagpal recently opened up about the stark contrast between Bollywood stars of the 90s and the current generation of actors. In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, she reflected on the simplicity and humility she witnessed on sets back in the day — particularly recalling her time shooting Koyla (1997) with Shah Rukh Khan . Deepshikha pointed out how acting wasn't considered a 'respected' profession earlier, and the focus was purely on the craft. 'Acting was not a profession before; it was not a respected job. Now, everybody wants to become an actor; they want vanity vans and staff. I have seen Shah Rukh Khan working in Koyla. There were no vanity vans back then. He would just sleep there in the midst of coal mine machinery and flashing lights. The focus was on work. That we need to finish this scene by this date,' she said. 04:11 SRK-Salman's 'Kat' fight! Salman Khan too had no entourage in the early days Deepshikha also recalled the simplicity of Salman Khan during his earlier years in the industry. She said that both Shah Rukh and Salman were grounded and approachable on set. 'I've even seen how Salman once shot for films. Big stars would get a big makeup room. He would walk alone from the set to his makeup room without a bodyguard or security. 'After working for 30 years, they demand [entourages] today because they have such a fan following.' What's next for SRK and Salman? On the work front, Shah Rukh Khan is gearing up for King, directed by Siddharth Anand, where he'll share screen space with daughter Suhana Khan and actor Abhishek Bachchan. Meanwhile, Salman Khan is yet to announce his next project following this year's release of Sikandar.
