Two unidentified assailants shot at a private doctor at his clinic in Kot Ise Khan town in Moga district on Friday afternoon. Investigators said after the attack, the assailants sped away on a motorcycle. (HT)
Investigators said the criminals visited victim Aniljit Kamboj's clinic posing as patients and got themselves examined by the doctor before firing at least two shots at him.
Reports said Kamboj was the stepfather of Punjabi film actor Tania.

Moga senior superintendent of police (SSP) Ajay Gandhi said Kamboj suffered gunshot wounds to the chest and arm. 'He remains hospitalised and doctors attending to him termed his condition as stable. We are working to ascertain the cause behind the crime,' said the SSP.

Investigators said after the attack, the assailants sped away on a motorcycle. They were spotted moving around the clinic before the crime.
Gandhi shared police had vital clues about the accused and efforts were on to nab them.

BATHINDA: A well-known businessman of Abohar town in district Fazilka, Sanjay Verma was killed outside his showroom Monday morning. Sanjay Verma along with his elder brother Jagat Verma owns 'New Wear Well', a tailoring showroom known across Punjab for stitching of Kurta Pyajamas. Sanjay Verma just had reached the showroom in the main bazaar of Abohar when three persons fired at him and fled on a nearby parked bike. He was rushed to civil hospital where doctors declared him dead. The motive of the crime could not be known but as per the family members, he had no enmity with anyone. Police officials reached the spot and investigations are being made to know motive behind the killing. Angry Abohar shopkeepers downed shutters after the killing. Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar, who belongs to Abohar and Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal raised question marks over the prevailing law and order situation in Punjab. Only three days ago, two persons had fired at Punjabi Actress Tania' stepfather Dr Aniljit Kamboj by posing as patients at his clinic in Kot Ise Khan town of district Moga.

Last Updated: Two of the arrested accused had gone to Dr. Kamboj's clinic on the pretext of seeking treatment and then opened fire. Moga Police, along with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) and Counter-Intelligence, arrested three people in connection with in the recent attack on Punjabi actress Tania's father, Dr. Aniljit Singh Kamboj. After a brief exchange of fire, the accused, reportedly associated with the terrorist network, were arrested. An exchange of fire between the police and the accused resulted in all three accused being injured. They were later admitted to the hospital for treatment. Speaking about the case, Moga SSP Ajay Gandhi informed that on July 4, two youths had arrived at Dr. Kamboj's clinic under the pretext of seeking treatment. One of them opened fire, leaving Dr. Kamboj critically injured. He was immediately taken to the hospital. Following the incident, a joint investigation was launched. CCTV footage helped identify the accused, and intelligence reports indicated they were armed and mobile in a vehicle, possibly planning another attack. Acting on the tip-off, the police set up a trap to intercept them. On receiving the information, the police became alert and tried to stop the car by surrounding the area, but the accused got out of the car and opened fire. The police retaliated and started firing, and these three accused were injured and have now been admitted to a hospital for treatment, said the official. 'The three arrested accused are associated with the gangster Lakhbir Landa gang, and we are investigating further. No police personnel have been injured in this entire operation. At present, the condition of Dr Aniljit Singh Kamboj is critical," the police said. First Published:
